strangely it happened to me too the last couple days. it never happened before but the last couple days it happened maybe 2 or 3 times. i don't think it's because of the latest patch. the patch i'm using now for several weeks now and nothing happened before. i rahter think it might have to do with my AA set to 16Q, wich makes the game look better and run smoother. but it might be the recources are faster eaten up. might also be from using the rig with to many other things too long which eats up resources before actually starting to fly. maybe you worked on some pictures or sounds or other resourcehungry files or something like that before you started playing?

i think my update at the first topic went unnoticed, sorry for posting it again. in the first version i forgot the german names beginning with "L". now they are added and all in all there are now 1597 names. please feel free to use the updated version

it's not as popular as in the countries you mentioned, but in europe the dutch and italian league is very good. the highest german level is maybe equivalent to A-ball. maybe the best teams have AA level. depends on the team you're playing for. there are lot of good college players, minor leaguers, pros from j-league and even some some players who had several games or seasons in the majors, but never made it as starters or were not in the 40-man roster anymore. if you are good enough, you can earn some ok money. not very much to just rely on this sport. that's why lot of players are doing another job somewhere because you want to have something solid if you can't play anymore or get hurt or something. here in germany is all about soccer. every player who can run straight and tie his shoes by himself in the 10th league will get some sort of money. the crowds watching baseball here are also not as many as in baseballcountries. mostly between 500 and 5000 people. enough for some to get nervous, but not enough to feel like beeing in yankee stadium. i started when i was about 10 or 11 years old after playing catch for the first time on a barbeque of some puerto rican friends. then playing stickball in croatian and german streets. then i went to a club with a little league team and when in practice i was allowed for the first time to put a catchers gear on, i got infected and the desease will last as long my body will carry on

IMHO the biggest cheat in using tac is not the fact you can spot the enemy for miles, but to know where to look at. IMHO you can see distant specks good enough when you know where to look at. but if you would scan the skies without knowing the very same speck is much easier to overlook. and that's what makes it real and is very well done here. especially with the very good lightreflections of the crafts. tac kills it completely. it's easy to overlook near formations because you focus the distance, or vice versa. how often it happens in real you can hear some engine in the air, you look up and for some seconds see nothing, and then suddenly at the same spot you see a plane flying quite visible and near. quite realistic for me. what also helps me, without tac is when i scan the skies, and notice a little stuttering when looking to a certain spot, there is a chance of aircraft beeing there in the distance. p.s. even as a kid when watching the bionic man, i wondered how lee majors always knew before where he has to look at before using his bionic eye.

How often are you outnumbered?
Creaghorn replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
i think 3 important things missing in the poll is 1. what flight density? 2. what airactivity? 3. what altitude? i think if flight density is high, you will sometimes be outnumbered, sometimes outnumber the enemy. also it depends a lot what altitude you have. if you have missions where you are up almost at the ceiling (i mean without using any tack or radar) the chance you'll miss enemies is greater. i have airactivity on low, because my rig works better and IMHO even then you run more often in fights than it was in real. but much less than with other settings. i would suggest to everybody to have density on high and altitude also on the highest. i think (don't know if true of course) the airsuperiority is some percentage. if it's a time where the allied had the numerical advantage with set high airactivity, there might be e.g. 100 squads outside and 50 german squads. if set on medium, the manager scales it down to maybe 50 british squad and 25 german, and if it's set on light then 5 british squads and 1 german (just example numbers). but the superiority stays the same. the backside is, if the manager scales it down, it might be that from the e.g. 5 british squads, 4 of them are scouts units because the manager doesn't see any differences between hunters and two seaters. it just scales it down and the rest is pure conincidence. so it might happen you'll always run into scout units and often the very same. but i might be wrong of course. i think the overall reason for beeing outnumbered often or getting into trouble with lot of enemies (even with having airsuperiority) is the too good AI-sight. shorter sight would mean less attacking squads in your area. both own and enemy AI. sorry pol. i know it's said 1000 times already, but i just point it what's IMHO one of the main reasons for a lot of things and i know you'll look into that if possible. -
sorry :blush2:

glad nothing happened to you and your pal. i'm wondering, what did you feel or think while it happened? IMHO life dangerous moments like this reveal the true heart somebody has. you can't control your feelings and behaviour on moments like this. you just act instinctively. and that reveals everything without using sense or education or intelligence. you simply act and maybe later you can think about it and remember what you have felt. i remember one situation when in about 2.am. i was on a highway on a section without speed limit and any lights or something. i was on the left lane and suddenly my car broke down. it simply stopped. no battery, no warning lights, nothing worked anymore. completely dead. i tried to steer it to the very right lane as long as it rolled but between the left and middle lane it just stopped and there i stuck. it was dead night and completely dark. i saw in the mirror several lights of cars coming from behind, driving with about 120 mph towards my rear and i knew they can't see me and will crash into me. just at the very last moment they saw me and passed me with a swerve. probably they were all shocked of course. then the next bunch came from behind. trucks, cars, and all i could do was just sitting inside, hoping they'll see me in time. they were too many for me to just jump out and run to safety. besides that i could not simply leave a car on the road as a deathtrap. so i just kept sitting inside, took my cell and called the police. strangely i was rather calm and without any fear, my mind worked completely clear. i remember that i was wondering if the safety belt would give me any protection and i think i have laughed when i in a fracture of a second came to the conclusion that it will have no sense. so i sat inside, seeing cars coming from behind and at the last moment facing horror of just avoding a dead obstacle in the middle of the highway. it took a while when for some seconds theere were no more lights from behind, so i jumped out and pushed the car to the safety lane. several hours later the terrifying feeling came when i thought about what just had happened and what could have happened. but strangely not in the moments when the thing happened.

of course it's ok from my side. it's an honor

sorry, drop it into CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields/campaigns/campaigndata to download, save target as...wherever you want and then drop it into the folder. @ovs probably it was a kind of situation you described . i don't know. IMHO the best pics are always those you don't know you are getting photographed

just typed in google over flanders fields. right on the first lines there is a link for Over flanders fields torrent. just took a look into it to see what it is, and it shows (after a viruswarnig first) several download servers for BHAH and about 9000 downloads shown beside each link. this sort of stuff has to be removed!!!!!!

i extended the german names file little bit because the german surnames were too repetitive. from about 140 names i added some, so there are now 1505 surnames. most of them were real ww1 pilot names. would like to post it or send it somehow to everybody who is interested. don't know how. maybe via email.

sorry, i forgot to add the "L" names. here's the updated name file. now 1597 names. if any uses it, please take this one drop it into CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields/campaigns/campaigndata to download, save target as...wherever you want and then drop it into the folder

as long as i have tried out it took a very random number of names. some from the first, some from the last part of the file. so i think it's not limited like it was in rb3d. or at least i didn't notice yet. would like to hear if anybody notices anything like this. switching out the name files as you described solves the problem. that's what i did with my fictive croatian Jasta Hajduk unit. I changed the german names for croatian names and every newbie who arrives is a croatian. so will the americans in your case. you also might simply copy the existent american name file and paste it into the french one. might save you a lot of writing. in my campaign it's very interesting right now. since i reached spring of 1918 and the fokker dr1 and dvII appears, i changed the files back to the extended german names file, because i don't have croatian skins for the dr1 and dvII. in my world they have decided to abandon the german unit and so the few remaining croatian pilots are still there and within the time there are more and more germans. right now there are only 3 left.

Must I mark specific targets for wingmen in dogfight?
Creaghorn replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
that's why i don't bother when every once in a while they don't do what's ordered. that's war an they're "humans". only adds realism . oh dear, when i imagine how often i misinterpreted signs from the 3rd base coach or didn't understand it at all. now imagine it's about life and death and you're a creagho..., no greenhorn who is more busy with his cockpit with the heart in your pants than any strange sings from the flightleader. -
Must I mark specific targets for wingmen in dogfight?
Creaghorn replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
olham, i think it depends how many enemies are around. i never assign any target to attack. from my experience when i hit only once A, usually about two of my flight attack. when i hit it more often, or every once in a while several times, all of them join the fight sooner or later. sometimes alltogether, sometimes few stay near you. it maybe depends also what ranking your wingmembers have. for me it's ok. might be rookies who of course are rather shocked than willing to fight -
i own EA's MVP baseball 2005. a large community and dev's are constantly releasing new patches and addons, new stadiums, players, cyber faces, stats, uniforms, rosters and so on. every season is like a brand new game, all with the core of the 2005 game. but they make it somehow it only works with an original game. patching with cracked or downloaded versions simply crash. i would like to know what they did. i don't think the original version can be protected, but every patch is modified it only works with the original. so maybe the add ons and patches of BHAH can be protected. let them bastards have the core release version and keep them standing on the same spot. but the large improvements and addons should not work. maybe this can be made here somehow.

hello, i just finally survived the complete albatros era (early 1918 with those outclassed, underporwered DVa's is sheer horror to survive against those odds in the much more better machines. almost like the EIII against Nieuports). now i'm flying for the first time in a campaign the Dr1. (very well done FM with all the shaky characteristics. i don't give a sh...if you can perform a complete flat spin turn whatever. i think in real only few were able to do it properly anyway and i'm definitely no Voss ). so regarding the german aircraft, this is the first one with an altimeter in VC. i was happy because i don't need to check altitude every now and then with the annoying HUD but use the real cockpit instruments. now my problem. so far it seems to work. when i start the altimeter rises and so on. but after warp, the altimeter says something different than the real altitude. does anybody else has noticed it? is it because the VC altimeter stops when hitting warp and just goes on where it had stopped after getting thrown out, without adjusting to the "real" height? it's not a big thing at all, but if true, maybe something to take a look at at the very end of the to do list...

HUD shows it in feet, after hitting "u" it shows in meters. same for speedometer. i checked that.

is there a possibility to only add the additional content? or if i use the complete all-in-one patch, does it effect the HC damage model? sorry for asking, i just doen't want to mess something up wich works very well.

Are you a hunter or a shooter ?
Creaghorn replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
even if it's set to max altitude, you'll mostly fly in medium altitude between 2000 and 6000 meters. i would recommend to set it to max alt and maximum flight density (not to mix it up with air activity!) and tightest formation. for me it seems most realistic. the chance of colliding with another mate with tightest formation is even lower because they are not spread around that far and it's easier to overview the more narrow bunch. -
they did it sometimes to prevent the inmates burning the wreckage. to make them run away, not actually to kill them. there were some known exceptions. mannock strafed downed huns to kill them because of his pure hatred against germans. they were also strafed sometimes if they didn't give up but still tried to shoot at the aircraft from the ground, what also happened sometimes. MvR wrote he once downed a two seater and didn't make them crash or burn but let them land safely. as he landed next to the enemie the two british inmates asked him why he was so careless. they tried to shoot at him from the ground but the gun had a stoppage. he was quite angry because he saved their lifes and they thanked him by trying to kill him from the ground. in another event he downed a twoseater and flew very low above the wreckage to see if they were all right, but the gunner opened fire on him. voss told him, if it would happen to him, then he would strafe him. so for me it sounds like he did not do it and if, only when the inmates didn't gave up. after the incidents MvR swore to himself, to never pardon anyone again and to make sure the enemy aircraft crashes with the inmates dead.

i can recommend james clavell's "shogun" and "tai pan" two of the best books i've red.

i know what you're talking about. i'm now feb 1918 jasta 5 with the terrible outclassed DVa's. couple days ago i was flying while my girlfriend watched tv or whatever (no time to take care what she's doing while i'm flying ). i was inmidst of a dogfight with camels. furball of about 30 aircraft alltogether. i swerved around and suddenly saw one camel evading one of my squadmates in very close range to me and flying head to head towards me, just passing me by inches. i instinctively ducked below the desk and almost fell from my chair. quite embarrassing . i just had a sortie where i was constantly scanning the sky, like always. suddenly tracer smoke from above and a fraction of a second later a camel shot by me like a meteor very close in front of my prop. i was so terrified that second that i let off a burst, shut down my engine, acitvated the map, fell into a spin and dropped my joystick. all at once (was so terrified i unintentionally hit every mapped button on my stick whilst dropping it). in that second i aged for about 10 years and my hair turned grey. :blush2:
