what also would be great is a doppler effect on extern engine sound, and just for immersion, the visual reload on spandaus, like it is already with the lewis. what also might be improved is the effects when crashing. i don't think a plane is exploding every time on impact. it should just crash and get deformed, but without those yellow neon surround blast.

i agree. two seaters don't need to act agressively like bristol fighters, but more evasive they could be. right now they only fly straight. they should look to do their job, but when there is a fight, they should fight or at least try not to be fodder. in real (better) two seaters were the tougher opponents and a lot of the famous aces lost their lifes because of two seaters.

Your consensus of AA ( Archie) in game
Creaghorn replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
as i said, if possible, very tight on target, but 99% missing would be perfect. -
i can confirm it. the chance of beeing hit by flak is greatly reduced, which is very good. but they are spread around wide more so one can see flakbursts, but can not take it as an indicator where enemies are because the bursts are everywhere, and i think that's what Bandy means. it should be more concentrated on the enemy aircraft and more tight, but still very rarely hitting them. probably impossible to combine it. beeing very close on target but still 99% missing.

i am not sure, but i think the pilots didn't taxi the aircraft out but the ground personell pulled and pushed it out to the takeoff spot side by side and let the engines warm up, while the pilots made breakfast or got dressed. but i might be wrong.

forgot to mention, a lot more unreliable guns, both for ai and for player. and a lot more unreliable engines.

i am not sure, since WW1 movies which are dubbed in german use the same phrase in german, saying "kontakt". i was just guessing. since the only german WW1 book i red is the book of MvR. he talkes about shutting the "zündung" on or off, which means translated "ignitor" so i would guess they said "zündung an". and since in germany they still say to this day for running engines, especially where physical action is needed (motor boats, old cars, chain saws...) "anwerfen", i would guess they used it in WW1 too. maybe the phrase comes from early aviation afterall, because "anwerfen" means "to throw on". but i would like someone to confirm or to correct, who has the real knowledge about the phrases of running engines in WW1. as an interesting sidenote what comes to my mind. "franz" was called the observer/gunner/navigator in german two seaters, and if they got lost or disoriented, they said they have "verfranzt" themselfes. this phrase is widely used to this day in germany, if somebody gets lost, but i doubt anybody knows what the source was.

i wanted just to make voice commands for stuff where voice was necessary in real. so since only in flyboys vocal commands were able between biplanes, i didn't want that. i thought maybe when flying two seaters i can switch between gunner/observer and pilot with "franz" and "emil". or when warping saying "warp" and to stop warp saying "stop" or something like this. got to figure it out. in any case a very good tool. you are right. i'm astonished myself how many folks are playing sims, racing games, ego shooters, stuff like this 24/7 without having a life, and never heard anything about trackir, which is the best tool for sims ever made.

have figured out i have to make my xml. profile by myself and did it. trained it to my voice and tried it out. very cool. it really works. thank you fortiesboy at the moment i just tried "E" when i say "anwerfen" it starts. i'll try to use more phrases to implement the steps of lanzfeld to have a more realistic start. e.g. - treibstoffgemisch maximalfett (for mixture) - bereit (for battery) - zündung an (magnetos) - anwerfen (engine start) looking forward to try it out if it's going to work. would be great. any more ideas i could do by voice command? maybe switch between gunner and pilot when in two seaters or getting out of warp or stuff like this. really cool sowftware it is.

thank you, have downloaded Shoot 1.6.4. but where can i find the XML. profile for BHAH? seems it requires such file to have the key commands mapped.
-
wow, never heard about it. is it freeware? have to try it. i use something similar at home when i yell "food", and wether some minutes later there suddenly appears a meal, made by my girlfirend, or after yelling "food" two seconds later a slipper is plunking on my head. doesn't work properly it seems
-
i tried it and it's really cool. feels more realistic than "E" button. one problem occured when i tried to assign the steps to various buttons on my stick. usually in controls menu you choose the assignment, click on it and a small window appears where you can make the new assignement. then you click "ok" and it's saved. but my "ok" button is not clickable. nothing happens when i click it. i can't even make the small window disappear again so i have to get out via taskmanager. anybody else has this problem or a solution for this? it wasn't always because at the beginning when i set my buttons it worked and still workes, even when installing BHAH completely new the assignments are still there. thank you

damage model like IL 1946 sturmovik
Creaghorn replied to radio's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
hallo radio, set your aircraft resolution in workshop to medium, not high res. then you'll see more damage than you would like to see . by the way, medium resolution is still very sharp and the setting everybody uses. -
hi olham, coincidentally i am in the same jasta at the same time right now. i started with jasta 12 in oct. 1916 and flew in the alsace for the first time. as i did now my about 60th mission and same number of hours with one confirmed kill yet, i "transfered" my whole group to jasta 26 at the end of january 1917. see you at the mess, old chap.
-
wow, thank you. got to try it. on automatic mixture, do i still have to do 1.?
-
is there anywhere a step by step guide for manually starting in BHAH? i usually have E on my stick, but would love to do it the proper way.

just came back couple days ago from paris. it was about the 5th time i was there and i really love it. almost feel like at home there. if you need some vacancy there, i can give you an emailadress and a link to their website. it's officially bed'n' breakfast but it was one of the loveliest places i have ever been. a mansion (like in resident evil games) and the most beautiful house i've ever been with very lovely owners. unbelievable cheap and only handful miles from downtown.

French 'ACE' gives our fliers advice ...
Creaghorn replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
the pilot who shoots MvR was supposed to get 5000 pounds sterling as reward, VC, a plane as a present of the type factory he uses and some special present. when MvR heard about it he said of course he also has to agree to it, but he wouldn't make getting the reward too easy. instead he said if there is some guy with a camera to film it, of course he will bag the cameraman first just for fun. probably only yellow press at that time. but at least MvR and all the other germans believed it. maybe only a coincidence, but that was the time when 56th came to flanders and the british changed their policy. it was the first squadron where the best aces were put into the same unit. before that they didn't do it but wanted all units to be somewhat equal qualitywise. the 56th followed the circus along the frontline. maybe also a coincidence because they got stationed where the most important work was necessary, and so did the circus. -
very good points. most important would be AI vision reduced to somewhat 2nm if at all possible to alter.

French 'ACE' gives our fliers advice ...
Creaghorn replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
as long as i know it was vice versa. the 56. followed the circus. that's why they were considered as the anti-richthofen-squadron with captain ball as their leader. but might also had been some propaganda work from the press, with all the rewards the pilot would get who succeeds in shooting down the red baron and a flightmember with a camera who should tape the dogfight on film. -
hallo all, my girlfriend and i went to a trip to paris and disneyland the last couple days. we drove by car so we had the opportunity to stop at former ww1 battlefields on the way back. we visited monuments and museums from argonne forest all the way to verdun. lots of hughe graveyards with one white cross next to the other. museums with even some aviation related things. one can still feel the spirit of what happened there almost 100 years ago. you can feel the war at the verdun area to this day. it was funny i was able to tell her what happened where in which town and which airfield of wich countries have been there stationed. mostly of old rb3d days and BHAH. one touching moment was when we stopped at a resting place between argonne and verdun to plan our next moves. on some wild meadows i suddenly saw some poppies (although not flanders). i asked my girlfriend if she knows what they are. she said, yes. they are poppies. pretty unbreakable flowers. they just grow everywhere. i smiled and said, yes. i don't know nothing about flowers. one could sell me stinging nettles as roses and i wouldn't notice. but i know what poppies are and why they are the symbol of the whole war at the western front. everything was dead, destroyed, vanished from the surface. the only thing which were tough enough to grow here and there were those poppies. i wanted to make pictures about the monuments and graves but unfortunately we had only one cell for the camera and on the way back from paris it was empty

Werner Voss...some guy!
Creaghorn replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
hallo everybody, very interesting topic, my two € cents, two seaters were the primary prey a scout went after. it was their job to prevent those spies to make photos. i have red lot of times aces mentioning to shoot down two seaters is a lot harder than scouts because they could shoot back at you. the same in BHAH. mostly, if i have to make unplanned landings it's because i went after twoseaters who riddled me. if two seaters in BHAH would act more evasive instead of keep flying straight, then it would be even much more harder to get them. so i consider aces with downing lot of two seaters are the better and more worthy ones because they also help to win the war. as for MvR. he was a very humble personality, so of course he was not going to tell the world, look at me, i am a great acrobatic and skillfull pilot. he had to teach pilots to become from average to good pilots. of course he would not tell, hey, if you want to be a good pilot you have to be a stunt pilot. that wouldn't have encouraged nobody. instead he said, look. only thing you need is to have heart when you attack. you have to be focused and don't need to do unnecessary things for the audience on the ground but make the kill. that's the only thing what matters. he was responsible for a whole jagdgeschwader. to look after everybody of them. so he also had to be a role model in beeing effective. for me voss is maybe the best natural aviator in history. but he never had to take care about others. he had no leadership. i think MvR was a very very skillfull AND acrobatic pilot. but he talked himself down because simply beeing humble and a leader for others. no showoff. i have red about surviving pilots MvR had shot down, and they all praised his magnificent flying. i have red of prisoners who of the whole flying circus knew which of them were the two richthofen brothers just recognizing their amazing flying skills. there were lot of dogfights where MvR had to fight by himself against 4, 5 or more enemies at once while hes mates couldn't help because they were too inexperienced. if he would have been a mediocre flyer, he would be dead much earlier. the only person who said about him to be a mediocre flyer was HIMSELF. nobody else. a derek jeter would also say about himself beeing an average shortstop, compared to ozzie smith. but still that doesn't mean he is average. he is still one of the top ten shortstops in the world compared to the rest. for me it's the same about MvR. if he says he's no very skillfull and acrobatic flyier, he is still better and more stunt pilot than 99% of the pilots at the western front. -
hi olham, ingame you hit esc to get to the menu. then you hit joystick settings or how it's called. you should be able in a dropdown to choose saitek pedals. the breaks are responsible for a axis (i don't know which one. y maybe). this assignment you can delete and save settings. then the brakes have no effect. you should also choose you joystick and delete the assignment for you twist. otherwise you would be able to move the rudder with the pedal and also with twist rudder and you don't want that. creaghorn

maybe frank luke didn't notice it's real, but thought it's a sim, thinking, if i die, i'll make another career. few flight hours, many kills for this short period, quickly died after couple days. i think we have many frank lukes here among simmers.
