OFFbase: the Barmy Automated Squadron Experience for OFF
Creaghorn replied to Lothar of the Hill People's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
imo it makes perfectly sense to have the bully and coward becoming friends. fear attracts the fearfull. the last thing a coward wants is to have the bully beeing his enemy. and the cowards is rather glad if he befriends the bully and therfore is not the target anymore but somebody else. of course it's no real friendship, but hey, if you remember your time in school, the bully is always accompanied with cowards who are only strong when the bully is near, and they are glad that they can together target some other weak one. the real enemy of the bully is the other bully or similar, someone who will not run or duck when the bully comes. personally i have additionally to OFFbase a file where i note everything and have all in one sight. when i like somebody, i make a starsign, if i dislike somebody i make a red starsign. same for the other guy towards me. no opinion means no signs, and depending of how many points one has i know if he is a very good friend, or am i just getting along etc. 5 black stars mean very good friend, 5 red stars mean enemy. also i made some colourmarkings if the NPC become friends among each other. if somebody is my friend, and also a friend of somebody else, then i check if the other person is also my friend. if we all three get along, then we all have the same colourmarking and i know that we are a kind of clique. of course one character can belong to more groups, depending of how good everybody is with the other. e.G. here i'm daniel croft and i'm getting along quite well with rick falkland. he is befriended with fabio ross. both have therefore green markings. since i'm not befriended too well or ambivalent towards ross, i don't have a green marking and am therefore no part of the clique but just with falkland. i'm very good friend with swithin and with a fellow who recently fell. swithin was also good friend with the fellow and therefore we three had black markings, showing we were hanging out together. of course we suffer more about the recent loss than the others. -
you mean the cinecitta cinema complex in nürnberg? wow. i just recently learned that THX is not a sound technology like dolby digital but just more or less a hightech soundsystem and the perfect alignment of speakers. so nothing to do with the quality of the sound itself but how and in what manner you hear it. and that many cinemas have to pay licence for the THX label year after year although the speakers are aligned like that already.

pretty long 2 hours my friend. still nothing available yet oh well, stupid me. seems it's pretty modern lately to update old mods instead of uploading it new . now i've lost one precious day of trying the new DM, waiting for it instead of just reading correctly

that's because in every other country it's celebrated in such a manner that everybody knows it. in german the people who know, they know, who not, the don't. military stuff etc. is pretty much muted here. same with all the german soldiers fighting in afghanistan etc. people hardly appreciate anything a soldier is doing there. in the news there is only something mentioned if some germans die at once due to an ambush or something. a soldier is not much respected. when seeing one in uniform the people rather think why this freak isn't wearing civil cloths instead of glorifying playing war. especially since in germany carneval starts on 11.11. not too many people think about volkstrauertag, although i'm also pretty sure that many people here also don't know why carneval is celebrated in the first place.

OFFbase: The Barmy Automated Squadron Experience for Over Flanders Fields
Creaghorn replied to Lothar of the Hill People's topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
if your pilots name is X and you want to transfer him or get transfered, then you create a new pilot with name Y at the squadron you want to go to, but the date must be in future of the current date of your main pilot (personally i created a new pilot and went to the pilots dossier file and changed the date to be two days in future of the main pilot). then you go to OFFBase again and transfer him to the new squadron. pilot X will then automatically be the in the new squad and pilot Y is an option to fly with him in the same squad, but other character. if you then go into OFF manager and retire pilot Y again, then he will become automatically a NPC (non-player-character, AI mate so to say) and you will fly with X as before in the new squad and Y is just another mate like the others. easier to do than to explain- 103 replies

does that mean that star wars is only fictional???
-
yes. time went by quickly. and since we are still more or less flying as enthusiasticly as in the beginning, it shows how good the product is. it's not just about eye candy, not about this and that. main thing in cultstatus games is the long lasting effect. that people are willing to spent money on upgrading their rigs mainly to fly this sim. although the label 2008 is almost not correct because it was releast at the very end of 2008

OFFbase: The Barmy Automated Squadron Experience for Over Flanders Fields
Creaghorn replied to Lothar of the Hill People's topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
great. always you post a new version, i have to go to work . sounds really good. it's getting better and better. yes, that's a big reason why i also have an excel file. because the pilots have pics and i can see their behaviour to me, their character etc. at once. one suggestion i have though. as long as i know the informations about the others, revealed by the adjutant are updating once a day. maybe it's just me but when i return from a 120 minute sortie far over enemy lines to make pics about suspicious movements etc., and after that i enter the adjutants office, i rather don't expect him to be bugged because i'm entering the office again. actually he should ask how it was, glad that i'm back, what did i see and how was the sortie. instead of beeing grumpy. so entering the office between sorties, but the same day should be like entering the office the first time. also maybe some of the informations revealed by the adjutant should rather revealed in the mess. maybe inbetween sorties when going into the mess it should be with the text of rather beeing empty, and after the afternoon-sortie (when the OFF manager actually jumps to the next morning) there maybe might appear the text about having dinner altogether and/or the drinking in the mess and maybe should rather there be revealed who is what character and what happened to whom (missing etc.) anyway. i can't wait to try the new version. very well done sir- 103 replies

that means that with the new version i just replace everything besides the pilots and squadrons folder in OFFBASE? great. good to know that . i created additionally an excel file with every AI pilot having an own block with his name, a random pic and free space to make notes about their personality, with updating it the more gets revealed over time. then there are four main registers in the excel file. friendly, neutral, unfriendly, and casualty. and depending what happens with the pilot, i remove his block to the apropriate register.- 103 replies

what's a bit funny that everytime i install a newer version, the guys in the squad who liked me, suddenly are my enemies, and the man of god suddenly turns into a tyrann etc. because the personality dice is thrown new again . anyway, i like it more and more. that is something to look forward to when landing. what also might be a necessary factor is the group feeling. ok, i'm good with x and good with y. which might indicate that x and y are good among themselves too. so you sooner or later have a group with whom you hang out instead of single persons. maybe a best friend potential with one or two, but slowly the people grow to a group. so maybe there might be encounters with groups, contentig of x, y , z etc. or if you are part of the group, you have a group-encounter with a newcomer (you're the new lad eh?), which is also qite realistic and common. so you might also know who hangs out with whom without you beeing involved. that would add lot of immersion. a list of names as now, and additionally a list of groups where you can see who is involved in this group. you might sooner or later enter this group and make encounters as the group with others randomly or as a single person as before. wether by dice roll or by own choice. the higher the morale of a squadron is, the fewer groups, and therefore more mates are involved in it. that's then really the band of brothers group. any newcomers are not involved in any group in the beginning. if the morale is bad in a squadron, then you have many smaller groups, as it is in real life. maybe even with a sort of exhaustion counter. for you or maybe even for all mates. the higher the exhaustion, the more often you fall into the direct opposite of the character you have during encounters. then it's time to take a leave, otherwise you'll keep the opposites characteristics more and more. if someone dies, your exhaustion counter jumps up a point or so. if one of your "group" dies, then it jumps up 5 points. something like this. then you'll become a killer, drinker, whatever until taking leave. otherwise more or less keeping like that permanently if not doing something against it. if you then take leave or simply skip one or to days, then the counter slowly decreases again. after leave of course more. depending of the character the exhaustion rises slower than other. e.g. a priest can cope better with losses than a coward. a charismatic leader slower than a schoolboy etc. what do you think? possible?- 103 replies

The OFF incomplete campaign editor 0.5.1
Creaghorn posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
i tried this interesting mod of Lothar of the Hill People, which seems to include bletchleys personality profile and other stuff. so far i like it. didn't tried it much yet but so far i like what i see. it has a quite professional touch for a mod and it seems there is lot of work done to create it, although i don't know what is meant with "incomplete". maybe there will be updates over the time, maybe with pictures of the fellow pilots etc.? however, my current campaign character is more the low rank intellectual type and obviosuly not very liked yet . i have the feeling this new mod is not endorsed enough or got lost in the forums nirvana, so here the reminder. thank you Lothar -

good idea HPW, i thought about something like this as well. for instance that if you are a schoolboy, then you might slowly turn into a charismatic leader. or at least be a grown old young man after months of battle, or become a drinker. but you won't be a schoolboy anymore after a while. of course if there are some changes, then only what's logical. a tyrann turning into a schoolboy wouldn't be too realistic. but maybe it should be also by own choice because to figure out what fits, who can turn into what, do i even want that to happen etc. wouldn't be easy to implement. this mod is great so far. still need lot of phantasy of course, but alone the evolution from the first posted version couple days ago and latest version shows how much potential this has- 103 replies

i don't have the experience with teens yet (besides thinking about my own youth), since my son is now just a year and two months old. but i think the behaviour of them, trying to test you how far they can go, is similar in a way. generally i would say it is ok. human species is more or less still a version of monkeys or gorillas, and every family-tribe there has a silverback or an alphamale. and if the younglings try to test them and go too far, then he is drumming angrily on his chest. i think the human is similar in a civilisized way, of course differently with small childs than with teens, but the point is to show them "you better don't go any further, son." if you are usually not like this (which i hope), then your son will definitely know he went too far, and he will be sorry. you protected the respect of your wive, his mother and that was exactly your job. also it's important for him to know that you can be a friend, a mate and a pal, but you are still the parents and an authority he has to respect. not only just because you are parents, but because you earned the respect. i don't think you went too far. you did not hurt him, it's not happening often. he just crossed the line and you were drumming on your chest. that's all.

i'm very glad to see this mod. especially since it is not as mostly a mod where something which already exists is tweaked a bit, but something completely new. thank you again . can you give a hint what and in which form you are going to expand this mod? is there a way to see what personality the other pilots have? i'm asking because e.G. on of my mates is said to be a man of god or talks good about my hometown etc. but when i leave this message again i rather quickly forget who the other guy was, if i don't make a note. i like the encounters, and i think it lot depends on dice roll. are you planning to expand it a bit (i'm asking too much, considering how good the mod is and how much work there must be involved) to be a bit more guybrush threepwoodish in his encounters in monkey island. i mean more conversation involved? what i found out is that the mod is made for scout campaigns. sometimes the encounters therefore don't fit if you make a two seater career (e.G. arguing about a kill because both were shooting when the enemy burst in flames, having wingmen etc.) are you planning something similar for twoseater careers? maybe even with a second squadron list involved whose names only act as observers and gunners? asking much, i know. but this are more or less also hints and suggestions for further expandings cheers- 103 replies

i tried it for two sorties and so far i liked it, as mentioned in the main forum. some questions i have though. what is the online requirement about? is it for automatic updates? are you planing to expand this cool feature by adding pictures and a list of your squad etc.? are there also funerals for killed squadmates, or some things related to major offensives etc.? very well done, sir- 103 replies

great game and great WS so far. IMO the best since 1996. but IMO one reason the games have ups and downs and are thrilling is that there are two teams in the WS who actually shouldn't be there. i rather expected the yanks and the phillies, especially the phillies. but since you have IMO good teams, but not WS quality teams playing now, they are doing more mistakes, than the actually best teams who are not there would have made. and making more mistakes pitchingwise, fieldingwise, baserunningwise etc. is making the games maybe more momentumshifting and exciting. that's one of the reasons why i don't like the playoff system at the moment. often enough teams reach the WS because they had a hotstreak at the end of season and which they carried through the playoffs, instead of the actually best teams who fought all year long through ups and downs and who are maybe just caught on a coldstreak or simply exhausted. IMO they should wether extend the first round to best of seven instead of best of five, or cancel it completely and play only the division winners, like before.

never ever again will i, nor my family buy anything which has the label "made in pathetic, sick, subhuman, communist so called countrywhatever" again. and everybody who has seen the vid should do the same. 18 people walking by, uninterested or dumb looking. may they all rot in hell and suffer the same over and over again. people who live and work there for some years say stuff like that is happening almost weekly, and that in the modern and rich part of this country. they should rather grab a bible or something to learn morale, instead of praying to money, only looking fo themselves.

i have the book, but don't remember either. wasn't it even both ways? can try to take a look and find the passage. -
that with big cities is for sure a factor, but not as big as one might think. of course it's not that everybody greets everybody, that's normal. personally i like living in a big city. seeing new faces every day, going out for a drink or go eat and trying everytime something else. going to theaters, museums etc. but this case with YueYue is simply not imaginable for the human species. no matter how big the city is. i'm croatian and my wive is turkish. we went to her hometown in turkey Izmir twice this year with our son Raphael who just turned 1 this september. Izmir has about 8 million people, that's about as twice as whole croatia has. it is really amazing how much the people there love children. everytime we went downtown or so, there came people to hug him, play with him, hold him etc. even at the airport the workers there forgot their duty and were completely focused on him. and that in a city of this size. once, when we walked home from the beach we got even escorted by 12 people, where everybody wanted to play with him etc. the little brat always had his fanclubs with him. and that was really amazing. you can imagine that in a town, although having so many million people, something like with YueYue never would have happened. so yes, big cities are unpersonal, often unfriendly, but YueYue's case is still unimaginable and simply unhuman. she was not a victim of a cruel war. there were simply bunch of poeple of a sick community where one has no relation to the other, and that shows that it is a communitything.

of course that i will do it, won't change anything. this video won't have an impact to the world like the tunesian student who burnt himself, and which ignited the revolutions in the arabic countries, or the asassination of the archduke 1914, although i wish it would. that everybody who produces anything there immediately moves the production to another country, or at least future productions are not going to be made there anymore. simply with knowing that people who don't value a life, not even a childs one, shouldn't get contracts to produce my product i want to sell. that's utopic of course. i'll do it for my own concience
