  1. British- >> I am reminded that the 17 hour, or two week stint on the Western Front, was the average time for a new pilot, when the Germans had the RFC on the run in 1917. << You are correct. I used the 17 hour survival stat ( which I thought was the average stat for the War) in a discussion once on the "Airodrome" website (where you really need to know what you are talking about), and was gently corrected, with an insightful response on the accurate rates, times etc of a pilot at the front. The 17 hour stat arose as you suggest, from that particular period and for that particular group. Personally I found that interesting as it really changes ones perception of what went on as a whole. For example teh German survival rate was surely far different. Regards, Royce PS- Where can I get you Mission D/L's?
  2. BHAH torrent!

My internet/computer savvy is limited..so if this a stupid question... How can people d/l BHAH from net if you have to buy a disc from OBD? Is it that someone bought a copy and then lets others d/l off their PC? If so, can't OBD put some kind of code on the disc, that would make it non replicable? Or something of that nature? Royce
  3. Reason for screen name....

Got mine from the squad list of European Air War, IIRC, and then used it when I joined an MP squad in RB. Started off as a Sgt. and finished as a Cpt ;>)
  4. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Olham- Add me in as well..NYC USA. Royce
  5. Recent RoF postings

    OVS- Well stated. ;>) Royce
  6. OFF Current Status

    Excellent news all around!! Royce
  7. OFF aircraft web page

HB- A "standing O" on this project. Should enhance the OFF experience immensely. When I was building FM's for Red Baron a few years ago, I compiled lots and lots of historical data on Excel spreadsheets and graphs, for flight analysis. Compared RoC, Wing loads, turn circles, accellerations, power ratios etc. between all the RB models. Frankly, I am not sure if I eventually deleted them or if I still have them on an old hardrive somewhere. If I can locate this data, I would be glad to send it along to you, if you think it useful for this project. Regards, Royce
  8. RoF First Impressions

Just saw, and went through RoF ad/promo attached to Flight Sim.com webpage. Just curious if OFF considered going in that direction. Don't know the costs, however the exposure to the sim market is large and could solve the OFF sales issues. RoF is listed at $44.95 and their promotion is excellent. Possibly OFF could look into the same exposure. Regards, Royce
  9. Dej- I have seen many creative things done with RB and OFF etc., but this really takes the cake! Supper creative work IMHO. Regards, Royce
  10. Just an FYI; there is a new Nieuport model with several Ace liveries up at Flightsim for FS2004. Curious, can an FS2004 model be converted to fly in OFF or CFS? Regards, Royce
  11. good news and bad news

Creaghorn- It's all good news!..good news is - you'll be getting your hernia fixed.. good news is - you'l get to pursue your hobby without feeling guilty.. good news is- you'll be out of the lineup and your team will win more games.. ..just kidding. ;>) Royce
  12. I enjoy the detail in the terrain and scenery. The little things that make you feel that you are flying over a live landscape. Royce
  13. PW..great news..not only for the choice in DM but also, perhaps opening the door for 3rd party tweaking of the OFF/CFS files. I sense an FM mod in the air... ;>) Royce
  14. Already donated and glad to help support the rebuild of that terrific site. Royce
  15. Is campaign dynamic

    >>And yes P4......I will not divulge the details but we are very excited about what it will bring....<< Now that's exciting..the best keeps getting better! Royce
  16. Dual in the Clouds

    Stunning!!!!
  17. ZEPPELINS OVER PARIS !

Terrific video Louvert; should be used as an OFF promotional for the simming community. If one has any combat simmimg in them, after seeing that, if you don't want to get behind the stick of one of these great crates..something must be wrong with you! Royce
  18. Finally here

Hey Luftace! Welcome to OFF..Spent some time in Afghanistan pre-taliban. Was a beautiful place at one time..stay safe! Royce
  19. In OFF I am more cautious then in RL; strangely enough. For most of my life..be first..be fast..be finished..seemed to have served me well. Royce
  20. Thoughts about OFF sales.

I agree with Matt's enthusiasm for OFF and wider exposure; and certainly OvS can't make it any plainer regarding the Dev's point of view. Ttttiger's telling you like it is, in the business of distributing creative content. Some suggerstions: someone/group of investors with Matt's desires and interest..try and buy the rights from Winder/Pol & Co. (if they'd sell) and run with the investment and risk. Assuming the Devs want to, and haven't already explored the possibility, get MS to allow whatever is used from CFS3 code or engine. Pay a royalty %, or perhaps a distribution deal if they are intersted and see a great enough potential for the effort. IMHO, unfortunately, as long as OFF is tied to CFS3 as a necessary component for operation, then it can never go anywhere above an enhanced hobby/addon etc. It's like buying a beautiful car, that will perform wonderfully, "Oh..but you need the engine from XYZ to drive it..and we have nothing to do with them". Unfortunately one won't be selling very many cars. If someone came to me with a product, and I loved it and wanted to invest capital, however, I had to have someone elses product (not part of the deal at all) to utilize it, no matter what, I'd pass. That being said..has anyone contacted MS to see if they would take a fee/royalty or some type of compensation for letting OFF use what it CFS technically provides? Can't really see why they should object..CFS3 is no longer viable in the simming sector as a stand alone product. And I thought I read somewhere that MS is abandoning the simming portion of their business in any case. FWIW, just my thoughts.. Regards, Royce
  21. Comments on the Fokker Dr I?

    Prop- Check your PM's. Royce
  22. My understanding has always been that Winder and Co. have pointed OFF toward historical realism. That being said, perhaps your base and time period was in a quiet time and/or sector. If you were flying during WW1 wouldn't you just want to complete your assignment and return home in one piece, and roll into the mess for a drink? I know I would.. then and whenever. :>) Enjoy the scenery or hit QC! Regards, Royce
  23. Yes..I think Siggi may have hit on the solution. Seems technically reasonable? Royce
