  1. Siggi: How big is your power supply and what is the new card you got? Reason I'm asking, I have a Antec TruePower Trio 650w three rail PS and was using it with a Nvidia 8800GTS card with no problems. I recently bought a over clocked, highly rated Gigabyte GTX 260 896MB card and when playing heavy GPU requirement games I suddenly was having severe distortions after several muintes and then fatal blue screen crashes. I ended up contacting tech at Antec and they told me that for the 260GTX series cards like this one need a minimum 500w card with 36 amps. They suggested a quad rail card with 25 amps on the 12v3 and 12v4 rails, or a single rail PSU with 40 amps. You can't just go by PSU voltage ratings. I ended up sending the card back to NewEgg for a full refund, not feeling ready to shell out money for a new PSU as well as the card.. will up grade down the line later. Just a thought..
  2. Sigi: Hope you get it worked out, I understand your well deserved anger over the whole thing.
  3. I agree, I tried the demo and had no problems, bought the 1/2 price sale version on Yuplay a few days ago and it seems to be working fine, though haven't played a lot yet, and I also don't play on line. I didn't like the very long download time and the weird "seeding" message that seemed to go on forever at the end of the download.. don't know what that was all about. I entered by paid access code and the game started up with no problems that I can see. I've been very impressed that it looks so good with my not very fancy system. It may not be high FM quality, but the graphics and effects are mind blowing and well worth playing, IMHO. I still don't like the idea of a dl game with nothing tangable and the on line requirement. Rise of Flight I heard is going to drop the always on line requirement, they have had lots of complaints too. It's understandable though, when you realize all the rip offs that have been making it almost impossible for game companies to exist in todays gaming industry, where developing a game is like making a movie, getting into millions of dollars of investment.
  4. Thanks for the heads up. I was sort of put off by the price, especially since it's a non disk purchase, but I'll go look. The demo, though some what arcade and limited in area, is pretty spetacular in all visual areas, bet I have seen. I really don't like these down load game purchases.. I like to have a disk, and hopefully manual, when I fork out the money for a game and I like the idea of being able to sell it down the line if I get tired of it or it ends up just not being what I like.

  7. Sorry guys, couldn't find an Emoticon of tongue in cheak.
  8. I've got the perfect (almost) solution for those flying with guilt on the opposite side to their beloved homeland... or what ever. Flyby, and any others stuck in this mental quagmire: Anyway, this works quite nicely and brings a whole other element of intrigue and excitement to the game of OFF. Consider yourself the most cunning of spy/saboteurs, this way, you get to fly the enemy planes while helping your country and with no sense of guilt! (Unless you just really love to beat yourself up all the time) For example, you're a guilt ridden Brit, or French man, or American, but you would just love to fly one of those marvelous German machines.. so mechanically in tune, so clean, so strong.. what to do? Join the German side, work your way up to a position of being in a better Jasta, one with some aces in it. Shouldn't take to long, if you're careful and stay out of the thick of it. You may have to shoot down a few of your country men, but hay, it's for the good of your country, sacrifices have to be made. When you finally get into a good Jasta learn all you can about the most important one, you want a ace high up on the known list, maybe even Richthofen himself? You will be a hero! Anyway, when the time is right, maybe when your target has managed to get off course from the rest of the unit, sneak up behind and let him have it.. he'll never know what hit him. He will never have dreamed it was a member of his own group! What you do after that is your own business.. I doubt they will let you land in friendly territory, but you never know! Cheers,
  9. Welcome to the forum! Interesting questions, but not related to this thread, which is about the free posters available for OFF, unless you are suggesting I do some with some updated "girls" in them? ..but then, they wouldn't look WWI'ish Again, your topic is interesting, why not start a new thread on "Attracting younger players to OFF", or something similar? Wish you had joined a year ago, I think you have a lot to add to the forum. Again, welcome and look forward to more posts from you.
  10. Second Lieutenant Hiroo Onoda

Wow! What an amazing story, had never heard about him, thanks!
  11. OT: District 9

Yea, there have been a lot of good scifi films, forgot that one, I liked The 5th Element too, and also, The Matrix had a good story line, even some of the sequels have been good. A recent one that looks interesting is, Moon click Check out the trailers on it.
  12. OT: District 9

I liked District 9, it made some good cultural analogies using the alien theme and the story line worked pretty well. Could have been better if they hadn't gone over board with the fight scenes though. One good place to get an overall view of movies from many different movie critics is RottenTomatoes.com Obviously, no one is going to agree with everyone, but it's often a good indication of what the movie is like and of a films worth and it often saves wasted money on renting a DVD or paying $6-8 at a theatre. District 9 got a score of 90% (click here) Pandorum got a scrore of 28% (click here) I think my favorite science fiction movie would have to be Blade Runner (click here) followed by the first Alien (click here) For older films: 2001 A Space Odyssey (click here), of course, and Fritz Lang's Metropolis done in 1927 is a classic(click here) Also, have any of you seen Children of Men (click here) This is an amazing movie.
  13. Is the game that blurry and out of focus or is it just the video someone did?
  14. OT - Swirling the Glass

  15. Really nice work, and look at this Tripehound!
  16. Pancho Barnes was probably one of the most interesting woman flyers to have ever lived.. a stunt pilot, flyer in the movie "Wings" friend of actors and actresses and astronauts, she lived a full and reckless life. One of the computers at Nasa even has her name on it. "The Happy Bottom Riding Club" her air field and Oasis in the desert was notorious for the parties given by her "stable" of girls and her own hosting of her guests. Here's Hollyweird's version of Pancho: And here is the most flattering photo I could find of her in real life: Here's a good bio on her (click)
  17. Pancho Barnes wasn't that good looking, but what a flier and test pilot.. and the 'birth" of Edwards Air Force base. Walton and Beinhorn are good looking, but the first photo of Beinhorn she looks more like a man.

  22. Modelling porn.

Here's another model builder of WWI planes, the best I have ever seen.. scratch builds the stuff, lots of brass, lazer etching, etc. An example: Fokker D-VII His name is Ken Foran, see more here Just to get an idea of the scale:
  23. How things have changed
