Ya, I already knew everything there is to know about two seaters.. I was just waiting for you to jump in and make some comments about them so I could laugh at you! Thanks again everyone, I can't wait till this weekend to try this out.
-
Thanks everyone for the advice and experiences. I probably won't have time to try this out again till this weekend, but am looking even more forward to it. When I switch from pilot to gunner using F8, does the plane go into AI pilot.. I really wasn't sure and didn't stay there for very long each time.. do I have to hit some sort of key command for auto pilot first? Do I need to select a enemy plane using the radar and then hit the A key for the gunner to shoot at a particular plane, or does he just shoot at what ever he thinks is best? Thanks again,

I agree. If I remember right, in Wings of Glory, you had to taxi to the end of the field after the cut scene of the mechanic starting the engine?

RC: Wow, that's a beautiful calling card! -
Well, I'm sure some of you had heard that the rights to the RedBaron engine had been bought by Damon Sly's (SP?) (originator of the RedBaron series) game "company" several months ago and that they had plans to resurrect it.. I didn't quite understand what they planed to do with a 20+ year old computer sim relic when I first heard the news, but now I see it's just a $$ making venture using the notority of RedBaron to republish these old, out of date, RB games. See the link at his new "Mad Otter Games" company in league with COG. After ther original success with RedBaron dos, the pressure from Sierra must have been horrific to produce RedBaron II for the benefit of the company stock holders and it was obvious from the first release how bad it was. And RedBaron 3d wasn't that much of an improvement except for the step up in graphics quality.. I think it's all sort of depressing. The only redeming action was the efforts by the modding community to put it all together and end up with quality products, within the limitaions of the game, like Hell's Angels group effort that OVS mentioned above, thanks agin, Otto.

OT: A Harmonica in Carnegie Hall
rabu replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This guy demonstrates virtuosity and dexterity with an instrument that normally is associated with the blues and folk music and it's pretty amazing he can get that sound out of such a small instrument. Many composers have actually composed pieces for harmonica and it's amazing how many compositions have been transcribed for harmonica. Heitor Villa Lobos (1887-1959) wrote a Harmonica Concerto in his later years, about 1950, and it's pretty incredible. I have a CD recording on the RCA Victor label of it with Robert Bonfiglio playing with the the New York Chamber Symphony, Gerard Schwarz conducting. If any of you are interested in this type of mucic, on a more serious level, this is worth getting.. really beautifully done. -
Hi, JD, can you supply a link to the ad? Thanks,

After you get through spending the money on a video cam $25, cap $5, LED's & power supply $10, other expenses $??, hours or fooling around and ending up with a 1/3 quality TrackIR with low frame rate, why not just buy a used, real, TIR3 or a newer one and avoid the hassle, know that you are going to get something that works, and avoid the grief? Unless you are a glutton for self punishment, or just love the DIY project? Common guys, money can't be that tight, it's a hardware item that will last you for years and bring a great deal of enjoymnet, and if you don't like it, I can gurantee you can easily sell it to some one else on Ebay, or elsewhere.
-
I doubt it, Wells, sorry, but I don't think it's possible, or a big priority, and TrackIR, especially used, isn't that much money, and it is almost a must for most every other flight sim anyway. I also use the external views while flying and also enjoy looking at the skins, but I don't find the limitations there as much as in the in CP view restraints where TIR makes all the difference. I think we're stuck on this one with the limitations of the CFS3 engine and I agree, they made some horrible decisions about view methods, but TIR has solved all of them, so why not just bite the bullet and get TIR?

Even if it is "something else" ... who cares, you'll be so lost in a war time period almost 100 years ago, you may not come back anyway.

$45 is selling your soul to the devil?

With the release of TrackIR4, and then v5, TrackIR3 has really dropped in price. You can find it on Ebay quite often for under $50 and it's a huge improvement over any other thing out there, including mouse look, in any game that supports it. Just checked and here is one "buy now" for $45 with shipping (click) And TrackIR3 can be updated to the same 6 views as v4 and v5 by simply buying the Vector addition with it's included three dot hat clip, but I've also seen many sold that include the Vector add on. Cheers!

Tired of always flying over the flat fields of Flanders?

I've been flying Nieuport 16's out of Lineville (South of Nancy) with Esc 75 .. beautiful mountains, but some harsh weather in August of 1916. Are all you guys going over to the German side? -
All of these screen shots are quite amazing. It's also great the way the quality of the shoots has improved over this last year, especially from those who were new to OFF a year ago and are now capturing moments as good and better then those of us who have been doing it longer. Excellent.. hope to see many of them in your article, Olham, and a big thanks for your efforts, yet again.

Here's a few I liked the best, you are welcome to use them: Damage model This next one is not that spectacular a shot, but gives one an idea of the area that OFF covers... all of it!

Thanks, did you mean this one?

Fawlty Towers and the German episode... very funny: (click here) -
I didn't want to have this missed by those who may not visit SIMHQ's OFF section regularly. This thread, "Extremely Delighted with OFF," (click link) was posted by Catch (thanks, Catch) and deserves a look. Maybe some of you would like to add a few comments as well. Salute!

I know, I know, it's amazing, isn't it? But I think many are coming around as they read others reactions to OFF after having finally taken the plunge and especially after this last patch, which, along with Version 3 itself, has been a huge improvement.

Thanks guys. I have no animosity towards the ROF developers, although I'm sick of being blasted on their forums for the least mention of OFF or any thing that is constructive criticism of ROF. Anyway, ROF does have some really fine points and I actually do hope it succeeds, it's just that I think OFF has really been passed by because of unfair put downs by many of the crowd on the ROF forum, and their close friends on IL2 who seem to have some vandetta against anthing having to do with Microsoft's CFS3.. it's really strange. Anyway, my main reason to post all this is to encourage all to spread the positive word about OFF and all it has to offer and I appreciate all the efforts here. The comparisons here are striking.. when I went on the ROF forum asking for envolvement by players of ROF who have had lots of time playing it, to help others with the many, very unclear settings and setups, I was again bullied and put down and acused of being negative.. Here, as a contrast, there is positive feedback and the desire to take part and get involved.. a big and positve contrast. As I said, one of the other positive things that goes along with OFF and the people it attracts. Salute!

Lou: Really nice work on the Tripe skin! Rickity: Those photos are pretty amazing.. guess I'm going to have to update my video card. What is your system set up and what are your settings in OFF? Thanks, -
Glad you brought that up, it should have a page there with information and comments.
