I was crushed... I actually thought no one knew who he was, then my paranoia kicked in and I thought.. my sick sense of humor wasn't working.. then I thought.. Geroge is going to see this and come over and put me in one of his grills.. then I thought.. no, he can't do that because I bought one of his grills once, and even though it worked pretty good, I didn't like trying to clean it.. then I was just starting to think that everyone was against me when you made your comment. Sorry PD, didn't mean to stray off subject, but obviously, from what Winder said, OFF isn't merging with CK and the subject just wandered over to what other posibilities there were, like ROF, and then to the general subject of support of WWI sims that we are most impressed with. There didn't seem much else to say about the rummor about OFF and CK, is there?

Yes, I agree, especially when they are obviously trying to produce a real sim, not just an ardade spin off with pretty graphics like Wings of Prey turned into, though I enjoy it too and bought it. With limited funds I will support ROF and OFF, as I think they are both heading in the right direction and I respect what they are doing.

Yes, I have those fond memories, but it also brings up all the problems with the Voodoo, then Glide, graphics..they really were Voodoo.. like when you would attack the balloon and it would put too much load on the card and you would get the "zebra strip" and "Black Hole" terrain distortions, etc. And, look at that flamming balloon.. looks like a squashed muffin with puffs of flame above it. As moders we really pushed that engine to the limits.... it's simply amazing that it went on as long as it did. That's what happens when you have an immersive sim that combines all things as a cohesive whole. Its final death was trying to keep up with modern equipment, and the dated graphics.. as things looked better, it was hard to go back to RedBaron, there were no furthur improvements possible. Here is the announcement of my On-The-Edge RedBaron 3d Snow mod.. I had done the first one for RedBaron II, then I came out with it for RB3d..sure looks dated, but at the time it was "cutting edge" terrain. and how many times did you fight over this river near Dunkirk?

Yes, that would be neat.. I remember making a cow patch (cow mod ) for Red Baron many years ago, any one remember it? Players liked it and I had a sign, please don't shoot! So, maybe we'll get some moving cattle, civilians, etc. in P4, excellent idea, but sounds like WM has already got plans! BTW.. Rise of Flight just added sun reflections in the watter and it's extremely effective.. is there any way to add reflection qualities to the water in OFF to get a similar effect?

Hohoho..." just put a piece of cordite, in the chamber and when an explosion is detected a 15amp current is sent through..." right.. 15amps.. that should fry your cordite and your computer as well.

I wouldn't worry about it, keep it as real as possible, Pol, that's why it's great to have more then one choice, like I said, for just fun arcade, you can fly games like Wings of War, then come back to OFF for a more reality based flight.

HS, again, good work, but I'm having trouble with the one over the town.. it keeps stopping about a minute into the film. Even if I let it download whit it on pause.. have tried it several times. Does it play allright for everyone else?

Oh well, guess we'll jsut have to wait and see.

I just watched Richthofen vrs Brown on a rented DVD and I had to laugh.. towards the end the dog fights had planes blowing up as if they had been hit with explosive war heads. Otherwise, fun movie, lots of dog fights with real planes, though not very accurate historically. A really fun WWI game is Wings of War. You can fly a number of different planes and some of us made mods for it that improved the looks of the terrain and we added new skins. The graphics and lighting in it are prettyh amazing, on a par with ROF. Anyway, in the default game you can fire rockets at other planes and blow off their wings, etc. When you don't want to get into all the frustrating sim restrictions that OFF and ROF have, this is a lot of fun to fly in. I still have it installed and I still enjoy flying when I just want to unwind and have a lot of fun immediately.

Works fine for me and I have nothing special.. maybe a problem on your end?

I want to bring this up, not to start any forum arguments, but maybe to get some intelligent discussion going about the FM flight model in different sims for this plane. I'm sure most of you are aware that Rise of Flight just released their Fokker EIII with their latest patch, update. It's quite beautifully modeled and skinned with lots of moving parts, including the wing warping effect with moving cables. I would like a comparison of what sim seems to have captured the EIII most realistically as to fm... I tried the ROF EIII and it just doesn't seem to be modeled correctly, it seems to easy to fly, while their Nieuports seem way to fragile and falls apart in any dive I try, as well as not being that maneuverable, but that's another subject. My impression was that the EIII was mainly good at attacking 2 seaters which it did with a surprise hit and run tactic, not as a turn fighter and that it didn't get in dog fights that much. And, of course, it's big advantage was having the synchronized gun shooting through the propeller. (except when the synchronizer cable jumped teeth and it shot off it's propeller!)

Well, Uncle, tends to not think sometimes, I know that.. gads, his political taunts drive me crazy, but.. look at all the good things he's done too.. he sort of reminds me of that strange, paranoid, delusional guy from the Red Baron days.. Von.. uh.. never mind. But, what would the forum be with out him? Well I must be a bad boy too, I have a minus 1 rating. Wow, I didn't know that I've been posting things that piss people off (off, not OFF, no pun intended).
