  1. Verdun

Good story. I remember years ago Shredward told me about his trip over there visiting the different sites and grave yards, and he sent pictures, very moving.

Very well written, BH, though I don't completely agree with you. And what you are bringing up is the long discussed debate about right and wrong, good and evil, the struggle to over come that animal part of us and rise above it.. touches all parts of our lives. The fact is that, looking at it religiously or other wise, when people make the effort to take care of everyone in their family and village and not let greed get in the way, they generally stay peaceful. When the survival of the fittest mentality takes over, as it seems to today in most of the world, you have the insane violence and wars that emerge from poverty, jealousy and hatred. And that situation has now spread to a real global village, as it were with escalation or annihilation the only answer on the human as primitive argument side. I was in no way condemning you personally for going to war, I went too, just as most young men in all countries are conned into it and in many cases it has been necessary in order to prevent some "evil" power from taking away everything we have. But as humans who have "choice" there are those who still believe that working to prevent the causes of war, or to try to rectify them is the answer, as I do now. I hope our country in particular can take this route and set examples for other countries, along with teaching our children to move in that direction or I fear we are all doomed.

I would put a LOT more stress on, until you've tried to respect each other and get along; that might have prevented the, "tried to kill each other," in the first place? Obviously that hasn't worked, look at the mess we are in.

  7. WWI items listed

I was amazed at the wooden gas alert alarms that would be hand rotated to make a clicking noise warning of gas.. I can just imagine how horrible that sound must have become associated with the gas used. Can you imagine hearing that going off in the middle of the night? It reminds me of the same items used in Mexico at fairs as such to make noise in festivities.
  8. Flyboys

Can anyone ID all the planes in this film.. There is even Eindecker (2?), it looks like.(click here)

Uhh.. Are you, by any chance... bald?
  12. I never put it past technology to find answers to problems and I'm sure they will think of some way around this as well. Not to worry though.
  13. With all that's going on in the world today, I sometimes feel like I would like to be like an "ostriche" ..over whelming sometimes.
  14. Fantastic, really enjoyed that. The timing of the music to the video was excellent, at just the right spots and I loved the ending with the updated shots. Thanks!
  15. We used to buy those for our car racks.. it's a luggage carrier, obviously.
  16. It's all go now (BHaH arrived)

CJ: Your new avitar cracks me up.
  17. HB: Give it a chance, I felt the same way at first, but after getting it adjusted and figuring out that I had the unit too close, etc., I began to get used to it and then really started getting amazed at what a difference it makes. I also just got Test Drive Unlimited and am going to try out my TIR3 in it, which it's compatible with as well. UKW and Olham: could you maybe post your settings file here for others to try out? I'd like to see what you came up with too, sounds interesting. Also, please post the link to Homeboy's tutorial for everyone. Thanks,

    Yep, my question too.
  19. Mail delivery.. The sacks were hung from the hooks. I have a feeling that the ball handles were also used as visual instructions for the other flight members in the group on each side. Notice there are handles on each side (you can just see the top of one behind the pilots back on the right. With balls of the handles brightly colored in red or orange so that the other flight members could see their position easily and be signaled when to drop their other supplies as well.
  20. Quite a Lady!

Me too.. just look at the way she is holding that mast.
