  1. Hopefully Pol or some one can comment and may have the answer.. sorry I couldn't help more.
  2. Olham: It's really easy, you just replace the tracer.dds files with the new ones and the changed xml file, after backing them up first. If you want to wait though, they will be included in yet another OFF patch, along with some other improvements.
  3. Winston's tracers and smoke mod

I checked back and yes, tracersmoke4.dds was the only file I actually uploaded; it being being lighter, at Winston's request (see the post here) I had experimented at home with the other two tracer dds files and didn't feel the changes improved the looks. Anyway, I think the current upload from Winston with my slightly changed smoke and the original tracer files I did, along with Winston's altered xml file seems to be working pretty well for everyone, so let's go with it.
  4. I think you only found the keyboard mapping, not what the mapped command does.. that probably exists in another xml file having to do with planes parking brake, or what ever. I don't think that any one in OFF has been able to actually alter the game engine, so I am pretty sure it is probably a xml setting.
  5. To Polovski:

Also sounds like you might have a background program causing the stuttering.
  6. Hay, Lou, welcome to the adult painting class!! Isn't iit nice to have a full set of paints for a change? When I first started working on Wings of War skins, and then OFF skins, it was so incredibly fun for a change to not have to be so restricted like the old days. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.. all the best, BTW.. love the dragon skin!
  7. Ctrl+Shft+B.. I didn't know that. I never flew CFS3 that much. I do think you have a good idea there; I don't think it works in OFF, but might not be hard to turn on if it's just a entry in one of the xml files? I'll bet if you do a search in the xml files for "Break" or "parking" you'll find the entry.
  8. Fantastic work, Sir.. Salute!!
  9. Thanks, HB, Also, I didn't know there was a new version of FSAutoStart.
  10. February 1917 Escadrille N311 at airfield Choux in Alsace. I'd had enough of the war and decided to see if I could fly south to warmer climates.. visit the Mediterranean in sunny Italy, so started my flight toward Switzerland and over the Alps. I didn't get that far, I kept getting hit by up drafts and down drafts and one finally killed me, but it sure was a beautiful flight:
  11. Hay, that's actually a neat idea.. the parking break could be defined as wheel chocks.. I like it. You would start your engine with the "E" key, and when ready you would have to instruct your crew to remove the chocks by pressing the "B" key ("B" representing Bernard (French), Bardulf (German), Benjamin (British), or Bob (American).
  12. Winston's tracers and smoke mod

Pol: I think it would be a good addition to the next patch. The tracer dds files I made originally for OFF are not the same ones in this patch though. I uploaded some ligher variations on them for Winston and that is what he is using now, I think.. might ask him.. any way, I think everyone seems happy with the currant version, so just use what's in there? All the best,
  13. Ahh.. I see what you mean, at first I thought.. never mind.. I'm not sure you can set it to auto default to your starting altitude with proper mixture, interesting question. And if the default stttings were changed to a certain altitude, you would probably have a hard time starting at ground level, etc. But if you have it programmed to your stick buttons, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to adjust it in the 20 seconds of so that you have before the enemy reaches you at the start of QC. As far as remembering to do it.. how about paper post-it slips on your monitor?
  14. This looks really interesting and it apparently will work with CFS3 Matrox Triple Head converter Here's a video using it with D-Box and TrackIR ..pretty amazing.
  15. I'm seriously thinking about it.. just trying to think how I can explain the "necessity" of having TH@Go to the wife. Maybe if I could fill the three screen up with shoes...
  16. First SimHQ, now SOH

  17. Winston's tracers and smoke mod

Thanks, WD, very good of you.
  18. What a beautiful day for a flight in the country.
  19. I see no announcements about discontinuing them, this is odd. And this morning, when you click on the "Forums Main Page" in the menu you get a Forum Archive organized by type, but under WWI Air Combat Archives, there is only Knights of the Sky. Ahhh.. Just found this on the main page: "NOTICE: The forums are currently offline for repair. We will keep you advised as we learn more. Thanks for your patience while we resolve the problem."
  20. White and his family were returning home to Monroe, La., from Marco Island, Fla., where they had just attended his brother’s funeral. Suddenly the pilot of the King Air 200 died leaving Doug White, untrained in flying larger planes the task of landing it. Control Tower: "Niner Delta Whisky, Are you using the auto pilot or are you hand flying this" White: "Mainly the Good Lord has my hands flying it, Niner Delta Whisky" “They said do NOT get below 110 knots,” he said. Automated warnings told him the plane was 500 feet above the ground, and White ignored a series of other cautions and alarms. “There were buzzers, amber lights, horns: It was like a circus. The only thing I was concentrating on was keeping the airspeed up and the wings level. You know, just fly the plane.” Be sure to listen to the actual control tower conversation at the very bottom of the page.. this guy was brave beyond belief. 21. On This Day in the Great War

Shredward, you should put these in a book.. or maybe a calendar? Thanks again,
  22. Yea, I noticed too.. have no idea. Maybe server problems?
  23. Thorough and excellent writing, Rudiger!
  24. OK, good work, everyone, NOW.. Let's see some screen shots of the change in game!
  25. To make this easier and take the strain off your eyes, do this, it's actually a lot easier then it appears at first: Back up the effects.xml file in the main OFF folder Open the file in Notepad From the menu choose "Replace" In the "Find What" slot type this exactly, or paste it in: TracerLength="2.5" In the "Replace With" slot type this exaclty, or paste it in: TracerLength="3.5" Click the "Find Next" button and then the "Replace" button as you find the one replacement incidence. Edit the "Find What" TracerLength="2.5" and change it to TracerLength="1.7" And edit the "Replace With" TracerLength="3.5" and change it to TracerLength="2.5" Click the "Find Next" button and then the "Replace" button as you find the two replacement incidences, or if you feel adventures, simply click the "Replace All" button. Next, you are going to change the TracerLength entries to TracerWidth entries Now edit the "Find What" TracerLength="2.5" and change it to TracerWidth="2.5" Edit the "Replace With" TracerLength="3.5" and change it to TracerWidth="3.5" Run the replace, as in step 3 Now edit the "Find What" TracerWidth="3.5" and change it to TracerWidth="1.7" Edit the "Replace With" TracerWidth="3.5" and change it to TracerWidth="2.5" Run the replace, as in step 6
