  1. I Run OFF on Windows 7 x64 and never had any issues with it. I would be very surprised if they (the Devs) thought XP would be the way to go at this point. I seem to recall - and I could be wrong here - that at least some of the Devs are developing WOFF on a Windows 7 platform. As Dimus says though, the Devs are best to answer the question.
  2. A Triplane bites the big one...

What an amazing sound the engine has. Thanks for sharing.
  3. I must admit that I too like to go STRAIGHT AT 'EM and get very close when I shoot...after all - if 100% of your gun site view is filled with enemy airplane, then 100% of your bullets are going to hit! But turn!!! For God's sake man, turn, bank, climb, dive...something! Otherwise it's the last enemy plane you are likely to take down. On the plus side though, you are farily sure to get him. I guess it's all in what you want most. I mean if you don't care about getting home to brag about it and you really want to avoid the mid-afternoon sortie, Pols strategy does have it's advantages.

  5. Quick update. Have been using these drivers since the 16th and still no issues for me. They are about as safe as any as far as I can tell. Of course your mileage may vary. :P
  6. Just Ordered BH&H

Between Heaven & Hell is the official name for "Phase 3". He has ordered correctly. He'll probably want the "Hat in the Ring" expansion very soon afterwards though. Lots of great additions and improvements in HitR. Welcome to the meat grinder.
  7. Anti-Camel-Trick

I was just playing the part of the over-confident, bravado filled Allied pilot. :)
  8. Anti-Camel-Trick

Let me get this straight. In this hypothetical scenerio, the Bosch pilot sees the Camel...and then lives long enough to actually do something about it?!? *ponders a moment* Nope. Just can't wrap my head around it.
  9. If you close your eyes and just listen to the theme and sound effects, you would swear it was the score to some epic war movie. Fortunately for us it will be accompanying an epic flight sim. Your talents never grow old Mr. Milne. Note to self: Never volunteer as the gunner in a two seater piloted by Polovski!
  10. How long a minute is depends on which side of the bathroom door you are on.
  11. WOFF Release Date Is On The Calendar!

I'm sorry RAF, but I must say that your calendar is completely inaccurate. Hell will Freeze Over long before the Wife Admits She Was Wrong. But other than that....well done my friend. very well done indeed.
  12. Outstanding work Andy! You've got real talent sir.
  13. Well I was messing around with the Nvidia control panel and I saw some options to crank up the Digital Vibrance setting from 50% to 85%. Someone else had mentioned this (sorry, can't recall who), but I figured I'd give it a try. I removed my ENB series driver and I have to say that I really enjoy the results. No performance hit at all, unlike the ENB series driver, but much richer, more vibrant colors and deeper blacks. Obviously you'd have to mess around with it to bring it to your own personal liking. I think the terrain and scenery look a lot more alive and vivid this way. At any rate, there's a screenshot of how I had my Nvidia settings at the bottom of this page along with a couple of videos showing what the results are in game. I even did one flying for the Germans so Olham doesn't think I'm always picking on them! By the way, I got hit right before the first closure between our two flights when I was fighting for the Germans and man was it ever a pain to try and line up a Nieuport 17 after that. They had so much agility and I had to anticipate where they would be to have any chance of getting some rounds into them. Be sure to watch both movies in 720P format for best quality! Hellshade
  14. OT: STALKER 2 Cancelled

For those of you who enjoy the series, I'm afraid I have some bad news. http://pc.ign.com/articles/121/1214389p1.html Maybe somebody else will pick up the title? Hellshade

  16. I posted this on the official OFF forums but I figured there are still plenty of fine folks who spend most of their time here. Just an old video of mine I recently came across that shows a whole bunch of short clips of near death experiences in OFF. Enjoy!
  17. Brushes with Death

What can I say? I'm not a good shot, so the only way to be sure 100% of my bullets hit my target is when his plane fills up 100% of the view in front of my gun(s). After that, my only problem is not ramming into him.
  18. People's passions only come out when they talk about the things they truly love. Viewed from that perspective - all of the various answers just show how much love and respect folks around here have for OBD and CA Forums. Fortunately when the dust all settles - move or no move - we haven't lost either one. We just gained another place to visit. I for one am grateful. Hellshade
  19. It's not going to win any technology awards or compete with the Frostbite 2 engine, but it looks interesting! http://www.pcgamer.c...ne-last-charge/ Hellshade
  20. Erik, I'd rather you be up and "running" than the Forum. I certainly wish you only the best and I thank you for all that you have done for OFFs forum and your dedication but please remember that nothing is more important than your health and your family. Additional drive space for the Forum sounds great, but not as great as getting oxygen to your lungs and brain. As pleased as we are are that you have been able to overcome such odds, I think we'd be even more pleased if you made sure you never had to try and overcome them a second time. Health and family sir. Everything else is replaceable. Get well soon sir and God Bless. Hellshade
  21. I think in the long run it will be a good thing that (W)OFF has two Forums. One at SimHQ for all the new blood that will show up and ask a trillion questions about WOFF when it finally launches, as it will surely cause quite a stir once the list of features and incredible attention to detail gets out. The second forum, here, will be the perfect place for the "old hands" of (W)OFF to come and chat in relative peace and quiet with few, if any, worries about some of the egos and attitudes that invariable show up on the forums of successful games and sims. I tell you fine gentlemen it was a blessing from the Almighty that this all occurred. We will be grateful for the separation when the time comes. Hellshade
  22. Scenery Detail Setting

I believe the difference is the 10 FPS. Okay sorry. My understanding is 5 does have more detail than 4 and I believe also stretches scenery all the way to the horizon. However as you have found out, there is a cost in performance associated with it and for the vast majority of players, it's not usually worth the trade off. It's significantly more taxing on your video card for not that noticeable of an eye candy upgrade unless you have some fairly serious gear in your rig. Hellshade
  23. OT: 2012 Is The Year I Do It

Congratulations Lou! That is truly outstanding progress that you have achieved so far. Only 5 pounds to go you say? I dare say if you took off some of those medals on your chest you might already be "there". As for me, my weight loss goals were far more modest than yours. Standing in at a towering 5'7", I was tipping the balance at 157 pounds a few months ago. Great if it was all muscle and good looks. Sadly neither one was the primary cause. Taking up regular walking and working out, not to mention cutting out a lot of crap food I am now down to 137 which puts me well within my ideal weight on the BMI. I'll be 44 this August but it feels great to be literally back to my weight and waistline that I had during High School...back in whatever decade that was. You have my sincere admiration but more importantly than that, you've probably earned yourself some more time here on earth sir. And that is something I believe we are all thankful for. Good show sir. Hellshade
  24. Which Damage Model?

I personally prefer Buddy1998's DM, which is a modified version of HPW's latest DM. Buddies version seems to have fixed the flying flamers issue. Hellshade
  25. I wasn't even really paying attention to this title but I watched the video and they seem to have a very different take on MMOs. I always recommend trying betas because if a certain style of game play is enjoyable to you, you might as well try it for free to see if you like the game. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/20/the-secret-worlds-final-beta-open-to-all Anyways, Funcom opened this weekends beta to anyone and everyone who signs up for it before the 22nd. I plan to give it whirl. Might keep me occupied until WOFF ships. Hellshade
