  1. Albatros windscreen question...

The PWCG single player campaign mod Is very good but I think Pat has said he's happy with where it is right now, so no publicly announced planned changes for the future at this time. That doesn't mean he wont ever touch it again. Its a big world and anything can happen, but given that the last WWI flight sim Kickstarter of Red Baron crashed and burned (for good reason) and both of the remaining WWI flight sim dev teams have now switched their focus to WWII flight sims, it seems unlikely anyone is going to do anything significant with WWI for awhile (in terms of historically accurate flight sims). The interest and money just doesn't seem to be there. Yes, Battlefield 1 is WWI themed and has planes but I doubt anyone in their right mind would call it an historically accurate flight sim. My guess (and it's only a guess) is that the next significant update to a WWI flight sim will be if OBD ports the improvements for WOTR back to WOFF UE. Of course there was great hope for that happening with 777 studios porting their WWII stuff back into RoF and that never happened. I have no doubt that OBD has the PASSION to do that, but there still needs to be money to make it happen. One can only hope. I'm guessing when it comes to single player, historically accurate WWI flight sims, some version of WOFF UE will probably hold the crown for a very long time and RoF will hold the crown for WWI MP. I just haven't heard of anything else being developed. Has anyone else?
  2. Albatros windscreen question...

It is not. 777 is still using a modified variant of the Digital Nature engine to produce it's WWII sims, so they have no interest in opening the source code to things like Damage Models, Flight Models or the 'Split S to the ground and then circle slowly' AI. That sim is caught between a rock and a hard place. Plenty of folks would like to improve it but can't and those that can improve it don't even bother paying attention to the official RoF forums anymore, let alone the sim itself. Classic Scylla and Charybdis.
  3. Albatros windscreen question...

Don't tell them that. Nobody over there likes to have stuff like that brought up. And to their point, 777 has zero plans to do anything about it anyway, so why bother.
  4. Taps for Multiplayer

Is it safe to kill /delete this topic, since multiplayer has been dead for at least 3.5 years and was never officially supported to begin with. No posts in 3.5 years and no multiplayer to make new posts about. Any moderators or anyone else opposed to this getting the axe?

  6. The Museum of Diseased Imaginings

I have no idea. I guess they just felt compelled to show up out of nowhere, be rude and then claim that I don't have a sense of humor...because were are supposed to believe that his flyby snarky insults were 'a spot of humor'. I'm sure everyone, including himself, totally believes that disingenuous excuse.
  7. The Museum of Diseased Imaginings

No loss to me, the forum community or the sim. Cheers.
  8. The Museum of Diseased Imaginings

By all means, fly right out of here. Feel free to not come back too unless you become capable of adding something constructive and mature to the dialog. Thanks.
  9. Just getting into WWI

I fly both RoF and WOFF UE. Each has it's strengths and room for improvement but for myself personally, I find WOFF offers the best single player campaign experience. Here's a dogfight clip from an actual campaign mission. We witnessed some Spads and Nieuports well below us and decided to jump them. Be sure to check it out in 720P for best quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qiQaJzzNcg In this one, I made the mistake of testing my skills against the newly deployed Allied Sopwith Triplanes. I survived, but they chewed me up pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEFLQS-YeRo
  10. Rise Of Flight Screeshots

    Great screenshots guys. :)
  11. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

Routine patrol escorting two seater recon when flight leader breaks formation and banks left. I and some others following him while a pair of other DIIs continue keep the recon company. We circle around but either flight leader doesn't see anything or else he didn't think it was a threat, so we turned back to our mission. Looking around, I spotted a new Sopwith Triplane. I had read about them in the news and decided to swing back and take a closer look. That was not a good choice... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEFLQS-YeRo
  12. Favorite World War 1 Movie & Book?

It is now officially a Necro thread. Back to life after being long dead.
  13. I agree. The new layout is the worst. Frankly, that may cause people to flood back here, given that very little new official WOFF news is going to be released by the devs at this point as they focus on WOTR.
  14. Bump for the Form Admin to notice.
  15. Just getting into WWI

It's a fabulous sim, especially if you love attention to historical detail and immersive single player campaigns. I believe it's still on sale at the moment, so the sooner you jump in, the better! Welcome aboard. This particular forum is a bit quiet but everyone is friendly and helpful!
  16. Most of the last post dates on the major topics threads show 2014, 2013 and even 2012. IMHO, as I have said before, all it does it make WOFF look nearly abandoned, which does no favors for the sim. I agree, Dutch. Consolidate it down to one or two. That's all that's getting activity anyway. +1 to your idea of putting it in the WWI related forum as well.
  17. First Eagles ScreenshotsThread

The screenshots look excellent. Are their mods to make it look like that (great winter scenes, etc) or is that stock FE2? Where would one go to find most of any available quality mods for FE2? I fly WOFF UE and some RoF but I'm always on the lookout for other great WWI flight sims. I tried IL2-1946 with the CUP mod for Dawn of Flight but I can't say that it suited my tastes.

  20. Straight from Polovski as posted on Facebook.
  21. There was a discount for WOFF 3 owners for a time after WOFF UE just came out, but I don't believe it's available anymore. The 25% off for UE is the best option while the sale is still happening.
  22. We don't. I'm guessing at least until Christmas but that isn't written anywhere that I've seen and nobody of OBD authority said that. So...get 'em while they are hot!
