  1. All I wanted was to fly my new Jasta 12 skin (not yet completed) in the sun - but the Royal Flying Corps had different ideas. We got jumped by many Nieuport 17 Lewis and had a great scrap. I even hit the craft of William Avery Bishop, but then I lost him - I got constantly attacked. After I had shot down three of the silvery kites, my ammo was out. But now came Sopwith Pups! Damn, they really sent everything they had available, it seems!
  2. Strange mission

No, I never had that to happen, and it shouldn't happen surely. The only such crashing accidents which we all know of, are those at landings, when they crash into the trees next to the aerodrome. Your problem has nothing to do with the weight. If it never occurs again, it might have been a single mission with a wrong mission altitude. If it happens more often, then there is something faulty your end, Sid. It is important, that you install the main sim, and the add-on "HitR" exactly like it's noted in the OBD website. You need to install the right patches, in correct order. See here: http://overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm .
  3. OT Made my day

I bet you also wonder, how many of such elderly people with more such amazing photo albums may be out there? Soon they will be gone. Makes you want to start an advertising campaign, to search for them - doesn't it? Congrats for such luck, Widowmaker!
  4. OT My Favourite War Film

Yes, I also think that "Lord of the Rings" is mainly about the "temptation of taking the easy way", which is the way of greed; the destructive way we humans have so far mostly always chosen. And he paints so masterly the pictures, that we understand very well, that we might also rather fall for our greed, that we would also rather take the easy way - instead of fighting Frodo's fight; despite having friends, he feels cold and lonesome with his gigantic task towards the end; he is tempted more than one time, and how easy, how damn easy could it be if he gave up and took the easy way. And how terrible the result. Not even the great Gandalf would dare to take the ring - because of the immense size of this temptation of power.
  5. HiTR questions

Does the real Manfred not mind, when you fly under his name in the same Staffel??? Sorry, I have no knowledge about any Great War Museums actually. But the Deutsches Museum in Munich is definitely worth a visit, and I guess they should have aircraft of WW1 there. There is a part - the "Flugwerft Schleißheim" - where they have many aircraft - see here: http://www.deutsches...um.de/flugwerft Especially this year there will be a program "100 Jahre Flugplatz Schleißheim" - see here: http://www.deutsches-museum.de/flugwerft/information/aktuell/jubilaeum/programm/ .
  6. Flyable Albatros D-5

Ah, okay - thanks, Carrick; had not read that.
  7. When you see in the map that your warp goes wrong, you can stop it by (see "Controls" for the key).
  8. Patrol

Most of what you see in "Lord of the Rings" is New Zealand. They have every form of landscape there, plus "The Vintage Aviator" plus the "Wanaka Air Show" - paradise indeed.
  9. Flyable Albatros D-5

"The Vintage Aviator" in New Zealand have two (your videos No. 2 and 3). If you like to see other kites of "Vintage Aviator" in flight, you should search through all the HAFU VIDEOS; they always make the films of their aircraft. See here: http://www.youtube.c...re=results_main .
  10. HPW's FM werks

Yes, let's hope. But since I had seen your "Essentials for Multiplayer" thread in the download section, I might be the man to help with getting everything right. I had not been into MP sessions at all back then, when you guys did it. But that has changed, and I would LOVE to fly OFF in MP. Sorry for getting a bit off topic here, HPW - Matt, if you should be prepared to take up that burden, you could perhaps start a new thread for it then. I guess it need someone who knows what is needed, to make it possible for more enthusiasts.
  11. Just found this PDF with some close-up photos of the almost cute looking Fokker D.VIII; a replica built and photographed by Achim Engels / FokkerTeam Schorndorf. Enjoy! http://www.collectors-edition.de/QAU/InDetail/FokD8/FokkerD8InDetailteil2leseprobe9u6u.pdf
  12. Thank you guys! They may come to your region one day too, Carrick - Engels will produce more of them, I guess.
  13. Flyable Albatros D-5

Thanks for No. 1, Carrick - I had posten No. 2 and 3 several times before, but can one see the beautiful lines and shape of Albatros D.V and D.Va enough? Me - never!
  14. HiTR questions

Good luck with your pilot(s), golden eagle - and be even more careful; the AI is more tricky now.
  15. OT My Favourite War Film

The ground explosions scenes must have been the beta for the later Godzilla films.
  16. HPW's FM werks

Thanks for the work, HPW - may have to try it out (despite being rather monogamous with my Albatros). Hey, Madmatt, that's a long time I haven't seen you here - great you're back and infected! I hoped very much, that you would perhaps come up with some idiot-proof kind of manual for Multiplayer, once OFF II (P4) will be released. Can I hope?
  17. OT My Favourite War Film

Does anyone know the film "The War Lover" with Steve McQueen? Is it any good?
  18. When I use "Warp", I always bring up the map first; then I press the "Warp" command. That way I always see the little aircraft symbol wandering along the lines. For me it works as it should.
  19. OT My Favourite War Film

Damn, I forgot "the Blue Max", and "Das Boot" (the 4-hour TV version makes it a REALLY haunting experience). .
  20. I use an ASUS P8P67, and I am very happy with it. It's EFI (Bios) allows a simple/safe overclocking for amateurs like me.
  21. Perhaps you could make a pic of your "Texture" settings in the GraphicsConfig? That would be great for comparison.
  22. P4 & P3 Question

Sounds promising again! Maybe the strangely different fuselage sides of the Albatros D.II got "repaired"? That should be great for our skinners, if so.
  23. Hey, don't you hide your light under a bushel, Lou - you caught a thrilling scene from a very good angle; the lighting is great; and your new graphics look superb, Sir! I've never seen the clouds so soft. I have them on "5" too, but yours look so much more soft and real. Any tip, what did the trick? Or maybe it's the difference between NVidia and ATI?
  24. OT My Favourite War Film

Damn, I have forgotten to mention the film "Die Brücke" (The Bridge) - a very good anti-war film from the 50s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Br%C3%BCcke_%28film%29 Here is a part of it - they seem to be all on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttdlt4CaGnI&feature=related
