  1. Yeah, that's how some industrial barons made their fortunes. On either side.
  2. Yes, of course - they are two different sims. You will learn it. Generally, you could say that the horizon is where your gunsight is aiming. You'll get there.
  3. Another great drawing - thank you, Lou ! Could it have been you, who posted the first pic earlier?
  4. Does P4 get it's own name?

Good points, Hellshade, although maybe a bit a sober title? And it is not the complete WW1 air war yet - it is the Western Front. As a graphic designer with some knowledge about brand names, I would recommend not to drop the main name of the sim: Over Flanders Fields. The name is now far enough introduced, that it has already a certain cult status - even when people don't own OFF yet. So I had a communication on the "Jasta 5" server yesterday. The guys I talked to didn't own OFF yet, but they knew the name very well, and they asked me all sorts of questions about OFF. Well, I told them, that they get nothing less but the most immersive, most historically stuffed sim with the best Campaign they could find anywhere; plus over 3500 skins. And they were stunned, and I guess some will sooner or later buy OFF, and appear here too.

    OVER FLANDERS FIELDS "Broken Bonds"
  6. redpiano, turning without losing much altitude is a matter of feeling. When I started flying OFF P3, I would crash into trees at low level turns. Nowadays, I evade chasing Nupes at treetop level or even below that, zigzagging through the woods. You need to find out a: how much can I bank the craft at various speeds without dropping too much b: You need to make sure, that you don't raise the nose above the horizon level in such a turn - with the one exception, when you have a lot of "energy"; in other words; when you gathered speed in a dive before. I'm almost ever only flying Albatros types and am quite good at turning them. But put me into a Camel, and I would be lost, and had to learn it all new for this particular craft. It's a lot about feeling. .
  7. OFF P3 continues to amaze

If you find terrain too "busy" (grainy), you could also try 5, 3, 5, 5, 5. That's what I chose.
  8. Doing It For Real

I said it before, and now again: I ENVY YOU for that girl! They are not often made that way, you know? You lucky man! Congrats on your first flight, Captain! I a small aircraft even much better than on a big one. I have once got invited by a former manager, to fly in a two-seated saiplane with him. It had a VWW engine, so it could start without a wind-up. The seats were shoulder to shoulder, so it felt a bit narrow, but I did not feel any vertigo, like I do on high buildings. At 4000 Meter, he even let me fly three full circles and an "S" curve. A great event for me!
  9. Mighty, let the other hotspurs go for them, while you provide "high cover". And when you're lucky, some fighters will appear, so you don't end up with nothing. Mercedes Benz are very happy and offered me a contract even, cause I need a new engine once a week, at least. The Kaiser, I heard, is not so amused about that... Well, is a humourless man, I guess.
  10. Whatever they'll throw at me - I bet it will cost the Kaiser another 100 Mercedes Benz engines!
  11. OFF P3 continues to amaze

Sid, the aerodromes are, if I remember that correct, additional "decals" over the terrain patches; so that may cause a drop in fps. I have just yesterday installed a new graphic card, which is a lot faster than my old, but I find "Terrain Detail" better looking on 3. On 4 and 5, it gets a bit too grainy for my taste.
  12. The most dangerous Entente two-seater is the Bristol F2b Fighter, because it can be flown like a fighter - all over the place! Very dangerous to attack - they may well turn the blade and attack you. The next dangerous one is the R.E.8 . Those guys know how to work together and defend each other. These two will kill my engine almost every time. I dare to attack them only, because I am over own terrain. Strutter two-seats and Fees I attack from below their tailplane. They are easier prey. The easiest is of course the BE2c without any rear gun.
  13. Aldis sights

Well, Albert Ball didn't seem to like it.
  14. Haven't really tested it with anything else yet, Carrick. I guess the games with more advanced graphics will show me fully, what step I have made. For OFF it wasn't such a big step. I can now run "Ground object density" on "High", okay, and all sliders (exept "Terrain detail") on full "5", but it did look good before, too, when my sliders were on 5,3,4,5,5. "Terrain detail" on "5" produces strangely dark terrain tiles for forest, so I put it back on "3", which looks still great. If you should be thinking of investing in some hardware, I think I would give you the advice to get a faster CPU (probably with mobo and memory, if you make a big step); also worth thinking about is an SSD drive, which should run the sim quite a bit faster. There isn't really a big need for a card younger than my HD 4870 IMHO. I guess the card will show a lot of improvement gained, with younger games, which use more advanced graphic stuff like alpha layers for glinting and shimmering etc. But I have only built it in yesterday, and only been flying twice. Need to check the Alsace with all the trees!
  15. Why Was My Thread Moved?

Ah, I see - okay - so we are not completely under water?
  16. Oh, a real cutie! Good luck! Well, I will go out dancing with Elly - another sweet airwoman! (I only need to get past race car driver Bernd Rosemeyer!)
  17. Why Was My Thread Moved?

"A ditch? Vee are sittink in a Ditch?? Vott?? I ssought siss vass der OFF Forum? Vere iss der responsible Officer?! I vant to make a complaint, mein Herr!"
  18. "Stop that, Franz - I don't want her to see my braces!" Lou, I would actually prefer to see myself a tad more like this:
  19. Interesting find

That is so crazy about war times - that a person could even "disappear" and get buried, without any of his own people even knowing about his faith, or where he remained. How sad is that. Rest in peace, pilot!
  20. Does P4 get it's own name?

Not bad, Lou. And you gave me the forward pass for another idea with your very quote of Shakespeare: OVER FLANDERS FIELDS "The Tempest" .
