  1. Well, "Voss" means "Fox" in old German - so he would actually be "Max Fox" in English. Sounds at least as efficient as James Bond.
  2. Maybe they were just too young to know any better.
  3. Well, "Der Rote Baron" (the film) has nothing to do with MvR or Werner Voss. They would have done much better, if they had made this film about some other Jasta, less known. The last day of Werner Voss? Could it be, that he got kind of coky, with his brothers so close, and one day before his leave? He looks very well - not at all suicidal.
  4. Yes, I also use CCleaner, and it works great and easy.
  5. Is "OpenGL" still used in OFF / must it be selected in the card's settings?
  6. My card has also 1 GB memory on board. I guess that helps a lot for better performance.
  7. Where do I find these informations, Lou?
  8. I must always laugh, when I see MvR in this photo. All the cavalry man. Or very embarrased?
  9. Rugbyfan, my ATI RADEON HD 4870 is also from 2008 - and it performs OFF nicely. OFF is not THAT graphic performance-hungry. If you let "Scenery detail" (on "2") and "Ground object density" low enough, you can have a brilliant result, as my screenshots may show. Don't know your new card, Lou, but when you say it's good: congrats, old chap.
  10. Okay, so that explains it, Lou - thanks! Von Baur, I find the left guy doesn't fit so much - Werner and the right guy could almost be twins.
  11. Well, at the bottom it says "Status: Disabled" and further right "Enable: F9" - did you try F9?
  12. Well, "Cliffs of Dover" took LONG and got STILL BAD! Tch!
  13. Didn't read everything, so it may have been mentioned: don't underestimate the reflection from your glasses (if you wear them); or the glowing red dot of a cigarette, when you smoke.
  14. From over 30 years of self-employment I know one thing for sure: it takes always longer to make something REALLY good.
  15. Had to watch the video again (as there are no new ones - hint! Hint!) - the map is really looking great now.
  16. Interesting descriptions of photo-reconaissance and bombing missions Georg Wulf had flown 1916-1918. Unfortunately only in German. Georg Wulf built aircraft after the war. He died in a flying accident in September 1927. His company and name got integrated in the German aircraft manufacturer Focke-Wulf. http://flieger-album.de/blog/index.php?rs_id=view&s=26
  17. Vizefeldwebel Fritz Engmann (Pilot) and Oberleutnant Georg Haupt-Heydemarck (Observer) forced Sous-Lieutenant Jean Raty in this French Nieuport fighter to land on German held terrain. Raty wrote a note, which they encapsuled and dropped over the French lines. The note reads: To the captain and leader of the Nieuport-Squadron 38 in Chalons: The Second-Lieutenant Raty has, after a first aerial combat over Mézières, attacked three Fokker to defend a Caudron. After he had fired his ammunition drum, and forced down to 200 meters above the ground, he was forced to land due to a jam. He is sound and well. He was received very kindly by the pilots of the Fokker-Staffel. He asks to notify Mr. Perchot, Rue de l'Abbé de Beaumont, No. 16, Paris, and Miss Darnys, Rue de Tocqueville No. 67 in Paris. Warm greetings to all comrades! Jean Raty 6 June 1916. This info was from the fine website "Flieger-Album": www.flieger-album.de .
  18. Good stuff, Capitaine and Bullethead. War is a very ambiguous chimera, it seems to me. So many contradicting feelings and events.
  19. This is not the original profile I sent to you, Hauksbee - the "Speed" value was "1"; not lower. Remember: if you use that thingy attached to the headphones at your left head side, you MUST put the TrackIR camera on the left third of your monitor - not center.
  20. What was the Christmas present you were most happy about? Well, mine wasn't especially sent for Christmas, but it arrived in that time. It is a book by Heinz Nowarra: "50 JAHRE DEUTSCHE LUFTWAFFE" (Vol. 1), and it contains lots of photos I had never seen, from the first days of German military aviation, before WW1 even broke out. I didn't even know of it's existence. I got it from our forum member Hauksbee, who owned it since the 1960s, and I am very grateful for this - thank you, Hauksbee! I have just found Volume 2 (1916 - 1917) at AbeBooks, and will order that one too. .
  21. Just made this after receiving a fine "graphics trick" from our wizzard Lou - enjoy!
  22. The German Website "Flieger-Album" has - I think - new photo albums. Two albums (Jasta 18 & Jasta 75) were made available by Greg van Wyngarden. There are albums only about Armeeflugparks; and others about two-seater crews. Have a closer look here: http://flieger-album.de/fotoalben/fotoalbendiverse/index.php
  23. True, elephant - we can see them, but not with much detail. Or I am also missing something. Tried everything, but no way.
  24. Hey, Lou - you are a "Web Wizzard"! That will save me a lot of work - thanks a lot!
