Semi-OT: Interesting German Fighter Prototypes & Designs
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Found this website with lots of interesting and partly futuristic German prototypes and designs - some only as models or drawings. Some of these I had never seen before, and I don't know, if they are all really authentic projects - but it looks believeable. http://www.nexusboar...storer-t296836/ This is said to be a Blohm & Voss design; the BV P.208. -
Semi-OT: Interesting German Fighter Prototypes & Designs

A two front war and the entry of America made it impossible for Germany to win that war. And they really tried. Maybe it had one good thing - Germany now had to climb up in the hierarchy of the high industrial states without getting there through winning a war. And the Allies were intelligent enough this time, to help them to get over the hard early years. Maybe the beginning, the proof to show, that among civilised countries such wars are no longer necessary to fight? After two terrible wars against France, Great Britain (with their Allies Canada and Australia) and America, we are friends with all these countries today. And I guess we need each other. -
The "Red Tails" are coming...and the news is not good.

"The Tuskegee Airmen" was still a bit "Hollywood" in the way the story is told and cut. But I think it was a lot better than "Flyboys". You can watch all parts on YouTube. Here are 2 parts as appetizers. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related http://www.youtube.c...feature=related -
norman, have a look here to see what the work in progress OFF P4 will be like: http://www.overfland....com/Movies.htm You can also see the movies for P3 here, to get an impression.

Supermarine Spitfire Mk. 1 in flight... ...and it's opponent, the Messerschmidt Bf109 E - enjoy!

And here about three Japanese fighters I like - unfortunately I found no better material. The Japanese Kawasaki KI 61 "Hien" (Allied name: "Tony") was built after the Heinkel He-100 and He-112, which the Japanese had both bought. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related Nakajima Ki-84 "Hayate" (Allied name: "Frank") http://www.youtube.c...h?v=FCfKUOj9ojI

This is the proof - size doesn't matter! -
Yeah, I know what you mean. Well, the two sims are quite different in many aspects. RoF has more modern visual effects, which make the aircraft and the water look brilliant. Their FM and DM are also pretty good. On the other hand, RoF campaign flying is pretty empty. There are not many squadrons, and the aircraft get spawned where they were meant to appear. The front is not reaching up to the North Sea, nor down to Alsace - it is limited. After a while, I found the campaign pretty boring. But quick mission flying is quite nice. OFF P4 is not out yet, which we should compare to RoF. But OFF P3 offers you the whole Western Front theater, a much more immersive campaign, many more squadrons; and the skins for all these squads PLUS the individual skins of most aces - over 2.700 skins altogether. When you leave your course in OFF, you will find other aircraft flying their missions. Everywhere, the squadrons fly their missions according to historical events - not just spawned craft for only just your set mission course. What you like in the end, is your choice. For me, who always dreamed to have good WW1 sims, I have got both, and I enjoy each of them for what they give me. I can hardly wait for P4 any longer - but I guess I must be patient.

I bet the lady will always carry you safely! norman, are you an OFF pilot? And if so: did I put you on the "OFF Forum Pilots Maps" yet?
-
Well, Mighty, especially for you - here is a YAK 9... ...and a Lavochkin La-9:

It is always the same, when I look at any of the photos and films of German Luftwaffe aircraft - I get a goose skin, both from being deeply impressed by all the inventing and ideas and by what they got done in a short time; as well as from the dull shadowed system they were built under. -
Just checked the STAMPE, norman - beautiful little cutie! And a plane you own is anyway a hundred times better than one you only dream of.

Good title - like many of the more famous book titles would be. "No Parachute!", "Above the Lines", "Flying Fury"... Why not?

Yes, I agree - they had come up with some very good ones, but too late - like the Me 262 or the Focke Wulf 190 D 9 or the Tank 154 etc. Also, they had one major problem: no own fuel sources. But when most of the rest of the world is standing against you, you should anyway better pack it in. I am glad the "Tausendjährige Reich" didn't even last 20 years. Brown doesn't look good on me. -
Another "hot" looking design was the Heinkel He-112, which was not built in larger numbers, AFAIK.
-
Well, Boeing Stearman would have been one of my choices too. Here is a lesser known German biplane - the Focke Wulf "Stieglitz". Not sure, how "civilian" it was though.
-
Yes, correct, Capitaine - the Swastika is forbidden here. I guess they are American planes. Widow, there seems to be that old competition in tastes between Italy and England, maybe? Like with cars. One may like a Lamborghini Miura. But then the original Cobra came from England. In the Jaguar limousine they have both met - British engineering + Italian design (I think it is from Bertone?) And hey, they can do some things very nice - like Pizza and Spaghetti?
-
Too long.

Well, it might be simpler. I don't know about the crew size of a Swordfish, but anyway: it might have been his special duty to do the lubricating of specific parts? Indeed - so many dads never came back from the wars, when their kids were still babies. That waste, and all that sorrow - all the dreadful missing...
-
Found no red+black one, but here is one with a nice painting - the Albatros D.V of Constantin Krefft, Jasta 11. Please report, when you have saved them, cause I'd like to clear the attachment space. Good luck with the painting! .
-
It always touches me with sentimental vibes to see old, personal photographs like this one. It must be great to have such a well made photo of your dad - I wish I had one of mine. He looks like a friendly character. That "coffee pot / trophy" looks rather like a lubricating can to me, with a pressure pump handle at the top? .

The "Vultee" sounds good, von Paulus, but won't win the prize for good looks. Dej, with the Spit it's like with Beatles songs. You must have seen her too much and too often to be fair in your judgement. But the Macchi fighters do look hot - here is the Macchi C.205 "Veltro": Carrick, that is the original engine surely in your second vid. Here is my personal favourite German fighter - the Focke Wulf 190 D 9:
-
Yes, the Bf 109 with a real Mercedes engine is rare today. I'll search for a G-type, too. Here is - very rare - a Focke-Wulf 190 A in flight... ...and some great performance by a De Havilland "Mosquito".

Like "Gladiator" - that was one I like.
