OT: World of Planes releases new preview video
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I wonder if it will have a good Pacific Campaign - that would be great then! -
Rabu once had a post saying, that TrackIR works much better, if it is further away from the player. I have attached mine 10 cm behind my monitor. Have you guys put the command "Center" on a joystick (thumb) button - that command should put everything right at once, and I always use it a lot, after looking around it is the best way to re-center the view (you need to look at the center of your monitor, of course, when you press it). Also make sure, that there are no lightsources nor light reflections behind you - and don't smoke. A red hot cigarette spot could be enough to confuse it.

Lou, forgive me, I just had to do this - Winder, you guys seem to be able to change far more than I had ever expected! -
Firstly, in addition to my vote, a clear: NO, SIR! Before the day is there, almost everyone seems to be doing mad shopping or Xmas-partying; almost everyone is stressed; and then during Xmas plus 2 more feast days, we stuff ourselves 'till we burst, whilst we are wallowing in our misunderstood Christian love - if Jesus could see what we have made of his birthday, he'd chase us all out of the temple again. (Oh, I forgot: he CAN see it!)

I was wondering about the same. Perhaps artistic freedom rather. But then the air in some Asian regions is often very humid?

"Ten Bogaerde Ferme" and the Great War Airfield at Koksijde
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I noticed exactly that - six German airfields on such a short bit of road - when doing my last maps for download, Dej. And then, they may not even have had a sign, a painted panel saying "Koksijde" or "La Jolie Ferme" - they may have been named by the fliers. One might have called it Koksijde airfield, the next said "the field south of Koksijde", and the third thought, it was called Furnes. -

This is unbelieveable!!! Gee, that will be phantastic - it will feel like being really there with all the fellers - until they fall, and you'll miss them! Damn, I didn't think this could be done!!! -
Oh yes, I read Roal Dahl's stories - dark indeed! And now I know, what Beathe Uhse meant, when she described flying the Bf109 F without ammunition weight; she said: "Wind, Sand and Stars". She must have meant that book. (Uhse was a female pilot, who wasn't allowed to fight in WW2, but she had to transfer fighters to squadrons. Later she became very famous in Germany, cause she had established the first mail order business for sex hygiene).

Damn, you're right, Wels. I had read the name of St.Exupery in one post, and searched for this film I had seen before. But you were first, definitely. You can see quite well though, that I have studied Graphic Design and Visual Communication - mine was seen. Damn, so much more interesting stuff written in between - must read it all through now!

Indeed - a lovely place with probably a good wine cellar! As an officer, you would have lived in the Chateau-like big building. Oh yes - with style! -

Checked it, and you must be correct, Dej - Veurne is the next bigger town down the road. -

Thanks for the info, Dej. You're absolutely sure, Koksijde and Furnes is the same field? -
Here is a German short film about the "Final Flight" of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry - or rather the "heroe" who shot him down. I have also seen an interview with the real German pilot, who claimed to be a reader and big fan of literature. When he tried to talk about that moment, when he heard the name, his voice still broke, more than 60 years later. Moments like this make you wake up from a very bad dream.

How cool is that, man?! This would be another giant step for an even more "realistic feeling" of being there with a crew, living with them, and loosing some of them. I'm stunned! -

Very good collection of aircraft photos! Some are not seen very often. So I like the Westland Whirlwinds over the dunes. (Had an AIRFIX model of that craft in my childhood) -
Great CGI, and a really surprising end indeed. But the German was played quite ridiculous. No idea what dialect he is speaking - German it is not. Only German words. And would you say in the same sentence "Please put the gun away, we are the same - you Scheisskerl*"? I wonder why they didn't do it with a German actor - would have been much more believeable. (* sh*thead) I also never knew about this - must have happened through all the clouds, I guess? They did their history bits right after all - JG 26 "Schlageter" was really one of the Jagdgeschwader at the Channel coast.

According to German Wikipedia, the were Albatros A 101, 102 and 103 - but there were no pics. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albatros_B.I

Why not make the "P4 screenshots" sticky into "P4 Screenshots and Videos"? It's locked and so wouldn't fall behind, and we could comment it down here. -

I think I understand and share your feelings very well, Creaghorn. If I land at "my" airfield, I always feel like coming home. I never interrupt and quit a flight in mid-air - I always land, as if it was really necessary - as if it was real life. That's why my heart makes high jumps of joy when I see (Winders?) new airfields so full of detail. I will fly more British side, only just because they look less "circus" and much more "homely" there. Rolling towards the hangars in the late summer evening sun, I would almost have the imagination, that a scent from the kitchen might tell me, what we shall have for dinner this eve. The light in the cabin near my Nissen hut would tell me, that Arthur is writing another letter to his wife. And Cecil might be in the hangar with the mechanics and riggers to talk about possible ways of improvement on his kite. And in the mess, I know there is an old French slightly out of tune piano - and it will do for the late evening songs we all sing together, like "We haven't got a hope in the morning". If that's not deepest immersion - and rarely any other sim or game could create that on me like "Over Flanders Fields". Am I crazy? Yes. I'm a little bit as crazy as the young fellers that climbed into these crates of wire, wood and canvas. -
Figfty? Huh! At your age I was 56 already! Fifty is not an age, m8 - it's ripeness! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WIDOWMAKER!

jrh, did you mean, you have two Windows installs on one rig, and OFF works on Win XP, but not on Win 7 ? If the Win 7 rig is a new install of OFF, then think about these points first: - was your CFS3 the version 3.1a ? (If not, update that first, before installing OFF) - make sure to follow the correct patching sequence for OFF install (see OFF website)

Who - me? The second picture is a situation that gets explained in several books of WW1 pilots. The flying scholars usually got big old crows, which were not at all agile. It was rather sluggish to change your course, when the craft had little speed. Which happens when you go for landing it. Last moment attempts to change your course at your landing descent could make the craft react so slow, that your counter-actions might finally make you hit a single tree despite all your struggle - to your most embarrasment of course.
