Oh boy - when even "friends" speak like that about you... Udet was a man who liked to drink too much; I wonder how they could get on? Maybe Udet didn't understand much French, and Fonck no German? It is very likely, that a person like you describe Fonck, would not be liked. The crowd doesn't like a guy who goes his own way with good success, as if he needed no others. And if he didn't even drink with them - no wonder. But it sounds like he did his flying and fighting like a well prepared man - like a French Samurai.

HPW, I don't get it (I'm very busy & dizzy recently) - the new HPW_UltimateDM_1.25.7z only has a size of 62.16K? Does that mean, it has to get ADDED to the 1.1 one?

OFFbase: the Barmy Automated Squadron Experience for OFF
Olham replied to Lothar of the Hill People's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Now you're getting serious, Lothar? Looks very good! Must go and get it...:fan_1: -
Capitaine, I often wondered, if not René Fonck is often seen very one-way biased by many. I read here, that he wasn't liked by many, and that he was boasting a lot? In Ernst Udet's book is a photograph of the civilian René Fonck, with goggles on, as he turns round to the piloting Udet during a flight over Germany (Berlin?) together. I guess you are the man to ask: Are there any books by Fonck himself? And are there other books by French WW1 aviators? I never found anything. PS: interesting info about Fonck definitely - didn't know that.

Don't know this card; best is to google for comparing tests - some ATI cards were not so good; others are great. TrackIR will work with any newer card without problems.
-
Welcome to OFF, shortbutslow! Your system should be fine, and the card could be anything from an ATI 4870 on upwards. I am running the HD4870, and have sliders on 5, 4, 3, 5, 5 now - and it looks great, as you may see in my screenshots. If you send me a PM with your town and country/state, I'll add you to our OFF Forum Pilots maps.
-
Is it really so small? Well, then I'd like to have it! Zipped it should be possible via PM?
-
Aaaahhh - fresh Albs!!! And the Dr.1 looks really like a fighter craft now - well done, guys!
-
I understand that, Captain - but it only means something to you, when you played it. Like I will never forget the OFF Theme in my lifetime. I also still knew the music from "Wings of Glory" - here it is:
-
I missed "Red Baron 3D" (maybe my biggest miss!) - do you have the music of "Wings of Glory"? I'd recognise that still.
-
This photo must be fake or from a movie, but it shows quite well, how fragile an aircraft was, and what happened in a collision. Without a parachute, you were lost after this.
-
Hihihi! Well, we never really tried to make art works; we made screenshots rather. Although - your ones you posted there are looking great - you only needed a bit more dramatic touch/weather; you know what I mean? Perhaps we should give it a try and make some more artistic ones? Why not?
-
Great works, Hauksbee! The second is especially epic. I didn't try to beat yours, but posted some tableaus of mine, to advertise "Over Flanders Fields". I copied the link of my post - not sure if it'll work from here? http://www.screensho...dpost__p__16243 .
-
Now I could also see the pics. I'll go and post some OFF tableaus now.
-
Ah, okay - thanks, Shiloh! That should be a good platform for some "advertising" of OFF.

Signed in with password, but cannot watch posted pics - it says I wasn't allowed???

Things are not always what they seem to be, von Baur! Same for drill sergeants.

How do different countries remember the victims of war
Olham replied to Rugbyfan1972's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
...and I guess, anything to get rid of fleas must have been like a god-given mercy back then. But of course they did not look like these figures from the German film for children "Wiki". They actually seem to have had quite some decent culture; many of them lived more from trading; and even those who went out for plundering tours, had often also some trading and farming going on. The horns, as I read, were never attached to the helmet, but only lay left and right of one in an undug grave. Nowadays it is assumed, that they were drinking horns. Here is a picture from a "Wikinger-Fest" (Viking feast) near my hometown Norden. This might be more what they looked like. The feast is celebrated every year, because the Ostfriesen were among the very few, who ever beat the Vikings. They came to our coast with many "dragon boats", to take this area into their posession. They were badly defeated; it is said that 10.000 of them were killed; the rest escaped and never came back. http://www.wikinger-...on-nordendi.php -
Seriously??? Sounds like an "instant ZEN" wake-up proceedure!

"Toten Fleisch"??? Is that his name? What do you guys think we Germans are named here??? -
An area I must visit when I get to France again - very interesting - and grisly too. Thank you, Capitaine!

"Pages 14-18" - A French Forum about the Great War
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You may not be able to read French, but there are translation weblinks which help to give you the idea. In this forum, I have found many interesting photos of ruins and traces of the war. http://pages14-18.mesdiscussions.net/ -
Just went to Google Maps (Satelite) to see Craonne. There is still a living village Craonne. Where did the old, destoyed village stand, Capitaine? It seems to be at the Chemin des Dames - a road name I often heard in WW1.

A great short Hurricane greeting! Impressive!!!
