Does anyone know, why they had different weights???
-
It came out in the early seventies, and it was the first film I saw about WW1 air combat. So, back in those days, I was very impressed. But believe me - "The Blue Max" is so much better, Widowmaker.

Well, all I can say is, that RABU's maps, which I completed with the airfield names, should be closest to OFF, cause RABU is an ex-member, and he made those for the sim. (NE of Douai lies Lens, and north of Douai is the much larger Lille).

LIMA, there are plenty of maps in the download section here: http://combatace.com...num__10__st__10 .

Hey, OvS - nice to see you, and to hear you are also at the stuff! I guess what elephant meant was, that the OAW Albatros had light blue ribtape, while the Johannisthal-built ones had salmon ribtapes.

Will P4 actually track squadmates performances?

Yes, and he'd be right! Our forum is a good proof for that. -

This video presents a Fokker Dr.1 triplane in flight. Towards the end you can see the huge rudder response of the Dreidecker in horizontal flight. Enjoy! -

Yep - his Albatros didn't ´, but he did. Some were luckier than others. -

In the "Duty Room" in the briefing menue this is all listed, redwolf. My wingmen's kills as well as when they're missing in action - or when they get killed. -

The Albatros was flown by Karl Menckhoff from Jasta 3, Widowmaker. See this site about Rhys-Davids (who fell a month later, and only three miles from Voss' crash site - maybe they met in Heaven's Mess and had a few): http://en.wikipedia....hur_Rhys-Davids . -

Yep, I have - but there may be some here who haven't. Probably the most intensive reported dogfight of the whole Great War? And the words of the victors for the fallen pilot are quite touching. As can be read here: http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/germany/voss.php . -

Wayfarer, sorry, I forgot what you were flying! With the R.E.8 your best defense would be to stay tight in formation. That bomber is my nemesis, even more than the Brisfit - they damage my engine every time. I attack one, and the others open fire - very caring community, those gunners! -

Thank you guys! Take care, Wayfarer - they are well climbing turn-devils. If you fly an energy fighter, make use of that. Fly away from them, attack, and fly away again. Only if you fly a Camel, you may want to turn-fight them. -

Yes, unfortunately; but I guess with a rotary, she might have even turned better - at least in one direction. -
Yep, a baseball cap, or just a summer screen would do. You may find it disturbing first, to have all that view - but once you got used to it, you will be IN THE COCKPIT. Closest thing to real flying, I say!
-
The "Great War" was the time of the aircraft with rotaries, and the time for turn-fighting with much use of rudder. That hasn't been in any title so far. Perhaps we could come up with a good one for those aspects? Like: Over Flanders Fields "Turn Fighters & Rotaries" .

OT: Good caption for these pictures?
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hauksbee, I guess a "replay function" can only be built in sims with those few spawned aircraft which are around the player. Apart from these craft, there aren't any others in most sims. OFF is different, as here there are dozens (they can even have over a hundred planes underway) of aircraft starting and carrying out real missions. So I guess there are no further ressources for a "replay". But that's guessed, as I said. But you could always get yourself "Fraps" for 20,- Dollar and record your own films. -
Geeeeee - the new Albatros D.Va of Otto Fuchs looks so brill! Paarma, you got the wood better looking than mine! Very good Job, Sir! The light sparse clouds at sunrise in pic 2 must be a new weather type, Winder? Looking sooooo inviting for an early sortie! And the D.III (although much in the shadow here) looks also "revamped wood-wise". Maybe less weathering? That is a good compromise, I think, cause weathering could rather easily be added by the simmer. The cockpit pic from the Aviatik reveals it: P4 is going so much closer into the detail; the observer looks so real - as if he might turn his head round any second. I had never seen those gun on the rails - an interesting set-up! Now, Hasse Wind will be most happy about this craft, but that's a design I will also have try out.

I guess at that altitude he didn't have much of a chance, that it would open... Both craft are looking quite impressive, but I say, these pics prove it again: the Spitfire is definitely the more beautiful lady! . -

What did you do in the War Dad?
Olham replied to Flyby PC's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, you mustn't be a coward, not to understand that. It was a very different time. People in the Britain, Canada, Australia, America as well as in Germany went to arms with a big "Hooray!" as if it was all just a big adventure. People were MUCH more naive in many ways. They did not have critical press and TV to shape an own oppinion - they were blinded by propaganda and followed their "fatherland's call to the arms" enthusiastically. Those days people were in many ways poorer of any chances to get overseas, to get a military rank, to learn flying even! That all was quite something. And then you would return as a heroe! A blinding picture - until you were in the mud. No, I think it's only common sense - not cowardism - if you wouldn't want to join that hell. Yes, if he returned from that war as a Captain, and all in one piece, and with a soul intact - he was!
