Bullethead, you proved so many times that you're barmy enough for the "Barmy OFFers Club". So as one of the Vice Presidents (or whatever it was that I am in the BOC) I declare you worthy to join the club - even if you should refuse to join any clubs, that would take you as a member. As soon as RAF_Louvert will read this, he, the very President, will send you the membership badge, plus a bill with the monthly membership dues, retroactive to the date the club was founded. (Mmuahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!)

Over Flanders Fields: Burning Sky Over Flanders Fields: Doom & Victory Over Flanders Fields: Wings claim the Sky

Yeah, it's a sad fact, that there is still a lot of bad sentiments between some Polish and some German people. I was actually very glad, when I saw that Kaczynski did not win the election. For the first time, the Poles have elected the same president for a second time - and I guess a major reason was, because he and our chancelor Merkel as well as our Bundespräesident get on quite well together. One day the expatriated Germans will be gone, and the young do already see each other with different eyes. My personal opinion is, that Germans can learn a lot about taking life and everything a bit more easy, form their neighbours Poland, Czechia, Holland and Denmark. The Polish are warm-hearted, well socialising people - I met some of them.

OT: What I've Been Working On This Last Week
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Fine art works, Lou, definitely! I recognise at least one RL medal you used - the "Order of the House of Hohenzollern" (No. 4). No. 1 could use parts of the Distinguished Service Cross? Albert Order with Sword was also used, I think? -
Very well made, definitely. But I was always asthonished about meetings of German and English veteran pilots - they did not hate each other, but met each other with true respect. This film looks more like two rivaling motorbike rockers. The intro is a marvellous idea, with the plane trails as graphic elements.

Yes, good thoughts indeed, Hellshade, and well explained. I took the sword in, because the original Icarus was not a flying fighter in any way. So I added the sword. But "Sons of Icarus taking the Sword" would be too long. Well, they won't use it anyway, and come up with something completely different. Mmuahahahahahahaaa!!!!

Interesting source of colour profiles - 'Wings Palette'
Olham replied to 33LIMA's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes, a nice site I often visited. But it's never wrong to post such links twice, LIMA. The profiles are collected from various sources, it seems. Some of the profiles are not correct, but that may happen often, when people work after black & white photographs. According to the book and profiles of our forum's JFM (James F. Miller), Manfred von Richthofen has been flying the Albatros D.II 481/16 (or: 491/16 - seems the number could not be clearly identified). The craft got at some time painted earth brown - maybe "Take Off" took that for red? . -
I guess the "Good Egg" is chasing piles of work in his job recently. It would be good enough for me to hear an occasional "Here - I'm fine!" from underneath the pile. Sometimes you can't handle all the pans on the fire. Lou, I hope everything is alright, Sir. All the best from a fellow flyer.

Icarus is not bad, Hellshade - how about: Over Flanders Fields "Icarus took the Sword"

Winder & Pol - seeing your new lights, I wonder if you could still make them warmer/more yellowish? And as the German tent hangars appear a bit Spartanic - could such lights also be put into the tents? That would look great, if you returned late to your field, and see lights in the open hangars & tents!
-
Now I could see the pics, thank you. The small lamp post and vehicle lights are creating an amazing more of atmosphere, guys. I will change my "Workshops" settings, so I will get missions before dawn, and at sunset.
-
Pol, I can see the night raid (searchlights are great, and the new fire/flames look like real fire - brilliant!). But instead of the last set I only see 6 lines of text?
-
Fine, but few pics from the Strutter, Pol. And I'll remember your promise about some German pics. Two questions to the craft: 1. what did they use in those days to cover the "attic window" in the Sopwith kites? 2. what is that black gadget attached to the right forward wing strut?
-
Good one, Hellshade.

For the makers of WW1 flight sims, there are two "truths" to keep in mind. The one truth is the historical one, and here you are of course correct, Hasse Wind, and I'm sure the devs do know that. The other truth is, that they have to sell the product - to as many people as possible - to make an income for all the time and work invested. That means, they have to keep the customers' likes in mind, too. And the polls about that showed clearly, what we already knew: far more people fly fighters than two-seaters. If I play the devels advocat here, I would make my plea like this: "After my long pleading about the immense richness and the immersion OFF brings to us all, I would like to end with these words: Dear jury - after all we have seen and heard here now, we all can only come to this conclusion: the history of WW1 aviation - and I mean all that is involved in that - could not be in better hands anywhere, than in the hands of these thorough, careful, accurate, detail-loving, tasteful nitpickers. If we can ever be sure, that someone wants to build the WHOLE of WW1 aviation and air combat, then it is this group of honest gentlemen. I can go to bed and sleep and dream well, because I feel I can be absolutely sure, that - whatever may yet be missing in the current product "Between Heaven and Hell" - they want to build it and to get it into the next version. Or the version after. Whatever you noticed is missing yet - it will come to you one day! I am sure you will come to the same conclusion as me, and so I plea for: not guilty!" Oh, and yes: I was sober when I wrote this. Sober as a judge!

Cash, I have just found this post about the same questions at "The Aerodrome" website. http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/aircraft/38290-how-did-they-repair-albatros-fuselage.html
-
Hallo, and welcome back, Cash - I will have a virtual Warsteiner, please (a big one). I can only tell you, that aircraft with bigger damage were sent to the Armee-Flugpark. Each Armee-Sektor had such an AFluP. For each Jasta, I think three of their aircraft were always stored there as a replacement for damaged or lost aircraft. The Jastas were always stationed near a railway line, so the aircraft could even be sent per trains (the wings were taken off for that). I guess (but do not know for sure) that the replacement craft from the AFluP were flown to the Jastas. All shot through spars and struts had to be replaced. But I do not know how they repaired simple holes in the fabric or in the Albatros' plywood. The simplest way would be to glue a piece of doped fabric over such holes.

OT- A big day, for William the Bastard
Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, if the legend is correct - that Harold was hit by an arrow in the eye - then the moustached guy (or is it just a crying mouth?) is him. He holds the arrow with his right hand. If anyone wants to see the whole tapestry - Wikipedia has it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayeux_Tapestry -
And I bet, you'll still be surprised.

Eddie Izzard is funny, Mighty - here is a sketch of his, with LEGO stop motion; I posted this several times, but maybe you haven't seen it yet.
