Talk about books about markings: here is another rare one to have. http://www.bibliopol...tml?id=wuPnWHPs Heinz Nowarra is quite an expert about German military aviation.
-
Buy it via German AMAZON then - much cheaper! (Though you see, that there is an old one for more than 2.000 Euro. When stuff is out of print, some people exaggerate. But as you also see: it's printed again). http://www.amazon.de...17201117&sr=1-1 Edit: Oooops - I see, it is not available right now.
-
Yep, understood. As I said, I never had RB3D, but I see what you mean. Is there still a community for that old sim?
-
Well, many people are at least quite lazy - they want the whole thing served on a silver tray, perfectly functioning of course, and then it would be nice, if they could be instant aces without reading the booklet. It puts many off, when they have to get CFS3 plus OFF, when they have to wait for delivery, when they have to learn how to set everything up. I guess the OFF community is as good as it is, because here people have come together, who are willing to go through all that, because they find it very rewarding to have this sim running fine in the end. OFF may be "a nitpicker's sim" - nothing for "arcade-style instant aces" surely. So, cheers, all you nitpickers! (Oh, nitpicking can be so much fun!)

I think so, and I learned my lesson: Never listen to the critics!

The dark forrests are inhabited by more creatures of our phantasies, than by real living ones. -

They are not as stupid as some may think - they are only so honestly looking into our eyes, that some people think they can fool them all the time. It is only because dogs don't even think about such naughty things like fooling their humans. I liked this video - it's about their intelligence. -

Hey, that was very naughty of that dog owner, and I wonder if I should call AnimalProtection about that! Teasing like Pol with OFF anouncements! I mean, even I ran to the fridge at once and made me a big sandwich with Old Amsterdam mature cheese, bacon, remoulade, mustard and tomatoe chutney! And that poor dog can't do that! -
...and then it's only the Pizza boy???!!! Mmuahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!

OT: Life in the Trenches, A New Respect

A touching description, Lou. The ancient people like the "red Indians" sent out every young man at a certain age, to spend such lonesome time in the wilderness, until he would dream about his "medicine" - whatever it would be - he would know it. The Asian zen experience also comes to mind there. My favourite Japanese zen master said, his "enlightenment" happened with the caw of a crow. We hardly ever have these moments in our lives, these moments of singularity amidst nature. -
Is that you, CaptSopwith - geekfest? I also had "Wings of Glory", and it was touching to see the little video of it. Instead of "Red Baron 3D" (which got bad critics in German gamer magazines - I never read them anymore; they made me miss it!), I had "Flying Corps Gold" and also "Dawn Patrol". After years with WW2 sims (Their Finest Hour, Aces over Europe, European Air War, Microprose's "1942", Jane's WW2 Fighters, IL-2), I googled for WW1 flight sims, and stumbled "Over Flanders Fields". Widowmaker would perhaps say, I was hooked faster than the greediest pike he ever heard of - it was like entering a parallel universe I had always dreamed of belonging into.

A bit like the Royal Wedding

Thank you, CaptSopwith, Im glad that I can do that much for yer, being the generally lazy, sluggish guy I am. OvS was last seen in an aircraft mechanics' overall, lying under his big old 1970s (or 80s?) car (forgot the brand), trying to stop an oil leakage. Apart from that, and his big family (Italian families are always big), he must be sitting at the new Fokker D.VII skins late at night, while listening to stuff like "Tales of Topographic Oceans" by YES. I hope he will get that damn car finished some day, so he may find some time again for visiting the forum again. -
In Ostfriesland (East Freesia) we have simpler way to deal with naughty neighbours: we ignore them to death. Would perhaps not work in a melting pot like the USA, but we are all Ostfriesen there, and then it works.

Just back from WWI fly in at AF Museum
Olham replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ah, Dayton has some great planes in the museum, Herr Prop-Wasche! And even my favourite German piston-engine fighter of WW2 - the FW 190 D 9 is there. Thank you for posting! -
For several months???
-
I guess, that a tank attack is even sheer terror, when you KNOW tanks, and when you HAVE weapons against them. I would have s**t in my pants, I assume.
-
I wonder how it felt, and how it must have looked for the soldiers in the trenches, when aviation was yet so very young, and now they witnessed 1.500 aircraft crossing over the mud. I bet I would have been awfully demoralised.
-
Damn, I don't know why I sometimes overlook important posts! And this was one, for sure! An AI which will make BHaH look like a game - that sounds damn promising! Well, the whole post did sound promising! And wether I'm interested in 'expansion packs' ? Yes, whatever it takes to get OFF further and going!
-
Hihihi - well, you see, Hasse Wind - Creaghorn is a "sound dev" now, and behaves like a dev: saying as little as possible as cryptic as possible, and teasing! (Maybe they have a crash-course for that?) But I believe in the man to be an honest OFF fan, working on getting it a good step better.

Could be a copy of it, although the Siemens-Schuckert D.I had a pointy aerodynamic spinner. -
Hasse Wind, ask him about his new sounds .
-
Pol, Winder and all of you lot: you know that knocking on your doors and drumming our drums belongs to the business. We just make clear, what we all would like to see. But before you drop out through permanent lack of sleep, or before you give it all up, we will take what we can get. And I know, you devs would really love to get it all complete one day. I can wait for a good job to get accomplished. And there'll always be P5...

The last one looks like a Nieuport 11 - but that craft didn't have an interruptor gear. So I guess somebody made a WW1 cook-up, a chimera? And the colouring is also much more phantasy than RL, IMHO.
