  1. Shot down by a Beagle on a flying Sopwith Doghouse? Schweinehund!
  2. OFF is not getting to me!

I have tried a beetroot diet - I could eat everything but beetroot - it didn't help.
  3. True, Hasse Wind - I meant the single seaters only.
  4. OFF is not getting to me!

Battle of the Bulge - good one!
  5. Yep, he describes it so, that you get the impression, they were just glad, when the craft was flying stable. He found the Eindecker "more agile and easy to handle". But hey, they didn't know any better craft, did they? I guess, if they could have seen a Sukhoi Flanker performing a Cobra manoeuvre, they might have just dropped out?
  6. OFF is not getting to me!

I have a training round of 900 Meter in my nearest park. I used to be able to run it 7 times, which was a bit more than 6 Kilometers. Used to run that every day, and didn't have a belly. But that was 6 years ago. It is also important, what you eat. I intend to go for light Japanese kitchen. Must try to find out, if I can trust the imported ingredients after Fukushima.
  7. A simple rule may be: the earlier the kite, the more difficult to fly. The Eindecker or the Airco DH-2 are rather for the very experienced pilots. We have that choice - the RL pilots had to take what they got.
  8. Just found another great fund of detail photographies; perhaps new to some of you. There are many high-res fotos from Albatros D.Va and Pfalz D.XII details - well photographed by Mike Abbott. I have put a small selection together here, but have a closer look! http://www.oesau.org/images/AWM/small/
  9. You can also bank steeper, when you have energy = when you dive (gain speed). Dive, turn tight and attack, and climb up again (unbanked). That way you can catch a Nupe.
  10. Then you haven't seen the P4 screenshots really. (Oh, the teasing! Can't wait - it's killing me!)
  11. OFF is not getting to me!

Hey, good - I'm not alone! I also got a bit stronger round the equator, and next week my daily jogging will begin.
  12. The wheels had spokes on some German aircraft, which were covered with cloth.
  13. The Fokker E.III was not yet a fighter aircraft - it was a wingwarping kite. With (as Hasse Wind said) the first gun to fire through the prop - which is a great advantage. If you fly the craft like a kite - carefull in all energy management - then you can achieve kills in it. I have actually shot down two Nieuport 11 in the Eindecker. I like flying the Eindecker. But it is only just the pre-fighter-aircraft flying of a wingwarping kite. Hard to become an ace in it. And as Hasse Wind also said - the E.III doesn't have the right opponents yet. The FE2b, the DH.2, the Nieuports and even the Bristol Scout are better aircraft. If the Eindecker would only face the early Morane types, it would be a better balance. A Morane Saulnier will be in P4.
  14. OFF is not getting to me!

Your post sounds like written by a long time ace, who only just realised, that he is an ace, while he was since long time overtaken by his own fame. But fortunately you still have the one ace to play: you have never ever let OFF get to you! Your self portrait in German uniform seems to tell me, that you have already started with the binge for the Barmy OFFers Club membership? Otherwise it would be a very casual and irregular way of wearing a German uniform, Soldat. I guess, by the way, that most of our members have Groucho's doubts about their membership.
  15. Maybe this was shown before, but better twice than never: http://asoublies14-1...337233D4761366E
  16. I only found these books so far - a good website would yet to be done, it seems. http://www.fleetairarmarchive.com/books/battles/WW1.html
  17. A nice little video about how to light a cigar, Lou - and the song is all nostalgia. "Keep the Homefires burning" - sweet! The Seine looks already impressive there, but the new screenshot shows the river much rounder and more realistic looking, don't you think?
  18. Good idea - I could fly your "Gothas over the Thames" mission once more. Are there any other bigger rivers in OFF like this?
  19. Oh, thanks for the hint, Lou - that's one I haven't read yet!
  20. Mmuahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!! Yeah, I bet you had also visited my search over at "The Aerodrome" ?
  21. Indeed - you would also jet over to New Zealand to visit the "Wingnuts" (Peter Jackson) at THE VINTAGE AVIATOR, I bet. Or the WANAKA AIRSHOW!
  22. If F. K. Kurt Jentsch's book "Beim Jagdflug verunglückt?" would have been translated to English, it would be something for you. He has been started at Fliegerschule Döberitz. Then he was sent to the Macedonian front, where he first flew one of only two Pfalz Eindeckers, before they got the (better liked) Fokker Eindecker.
  23. It wasn't for "showing off reasons", Lou - only just to pass on good info. Personally, I find it questionable, when people keep their hands on historical photos, which were made, when they were not even born - I would much prefer, if such material would be regarded as common heritage.
  24. Who knows this Albatros D.V and some of it's history (pilot, Jasta etc.)? And: what could have been the purpose of that rod attached to the right V-strut?
  25. Wow, you found him! I knew you would, elephant! Thanks a lot for all the info!
