  1. just checkin in

Hey, stumpy! Great to see you making a visit here! Why not more regularly? Family? Business? Come one, you need a break from whatever it is every now and then, so come back here more often, okay?
  2. Indeed - it came almost like a well made documentary of the day, when the Jaspanese Navy went out "waking the Tiger".
  3. Brand new DM and FM now ready!

The ejecting pilots are a leftover from CFS3 surely. Perhaps the devs find a way to either let the in-cockpit pilot disappear in the same moment, or to stop them from bailing out. We'll see.
  4. OT: Derek Robinson

So far, I have only read about real people and squadrons. I had by accident bought a book about a German Fliegerstaffel, and only then realised that it was fictional. I didn't read it. For me that doesn't work - I can't read fictional stories about war. Strangely, I can watch them as films - like "Blue Max". But sorry - you won't gain a new reader for Robinson's or anyone else's books with me, when they are fictional. However good they may be written.
  5. Yes, I know - it was building up to this extent since the Eighties. And if they don't get a new balance into the world wide finances, this may even happen in other European countries too.
  6. ...you had got me worried there, Davy!
  7. Uncleal's Hints and Tips

Best man you could find for the job, I say.
  8. Yeah, "Le Pol" was really made for Polovski; I think by Sandbagger? I met this craft too, and even shot it down. After that, I had nightmares about P4 never getting done anymore....
  9. All these videos were made by HAFU, the film team of "The Vintage Aviator" - and behind all that I guess stands Peter Jackson. Enjoy to see some great and very rare aircraft in flight. Halberstadt D.IV in flight Airco DH.2 in flight Albatros D.Va & Pfalz D.IIIa in flight Airco DH.5 in flight Sopwith Triplane in flight Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a WW1 Fighters DVD Trailer 01 WW1 Fighters DVD Trailer 02
  10. Captain, it's members like you who make it all worth while. A pint with me would be difficult though - I only drink "virtual Warsteiner", since I have given up everything with alcohol. I just liked it too much, you know?
  11. I guess, that OvS would be there too, if he didn't have a family in NY. No need to bring tools. Check the pics of the Albatros build . those guys have everything there.
  12. Great to see such a document. Thanks for sharing, Lou! And yes, eyebrows in motion.
  13. The one important thing he needed would be a good story. No one wants to see that "Von Richthofen vs Roy Brown" crapp with nurses anymore. The "Blue Max" works so well, because it has such a story line. What does he have to do with Hergé? Is he doing a "Tintin" story???
  14. Okay, Lou, that means you have a ratio (width to height) of 16 : 9; so you should select 16:10 on the left side in "Workshops". Possible FOV variants are: 25 : 14 27 : 15 28 : 16 30 : 17 Perhaps you try them all, to see how they make you more remote to everything, or how they zoom in.
  15. I know, Shiloh - I had a pilot on an S.E.5a, but lost him, when I upgraded my system. I'll be back soon.
  16. OT: WW2 dioramas

Cripes - the soldiers are looking almost real! Damn detailed superb work!
  17. Thanks, man. That S.E.5a of yours will sooner or later lure me into a British campaign.
  18. Lou, you have mostly the same settings as I have. I guess you know about screen ratio and FoV? Otherwise I offer you my calculation, if you give me your screen res.
  19. Herr Prop-Wasche - it shouldn't be allowed! I had been wondering if you use pedals, Creaghorn, and if it might have something to do with them. Make sure you de-activate the breaks.
  20. Yeah, I know - they often enough give me looks as if they doubt very much I get done anything with my crate without their help. And I guess, they might even be right.
  21. If I can be one of the good spirits here every now and then, it would make me happy. I wish you good success, monkey!
  22. Well, even the hunting boomerang comes back to you, when you miss your prey - that's the whole idea about it, I guess. You will find (and have to place) all the skins of OFF in this folder: [your sim folder] > campaigns > CampaignData > skins If you get yourself the freeware IRFANVIEW, you can even see all the 3.700 plus skins OFF provides. You get it here: http://www.irfanview.de/ .
  23. I used to be one of the most furious defenders of "fuel management". But then the devs couldn't easily solve the problem with the personalised skins. So I had to make a choice. I decided to fly with personal skin for a while, to see how it would work. And I must say, I have improved my piloting so much, that I can now get behind any craft even with full tanks. Another setting I find important to think about, is "Pilot never dies - Die roll on death - Dead is dead". I used to think, it must be "Dead is dead" for full realism and toughest job. But then I sometimes had minor accidents, which resulted in my pilot getting killed. These accidents did look stupid and not at all dangerous for my life. Also, you are getting shot up far more often in OFF that they were in RL. The choice "Die roll on death" seems now to be the more accurat one - OFF Manager will now decide, if your accident killed you or not. And it's doing that quite fair, I'd say.
