  1. The question now is: are those old diaries, layed over our today's calendar, or are they ficticuous?
  2. Yeah, collision is the No. 1 killer of the more experienced pilots. Especially in the crowded 1918. One month only left? Damn, that's tough! I am getting the trembles with my best pilot now before every sortie. He is only yet in august 1917...

Strange - you shouldn't have any problems. Are you sure you did patch your BHaH with the superpatch and the mini patch?
  4. Thanks for clearing, daddyairplanes. Now we know.
  5. Yeah, I know quite well, that he was a very black sheep. I just thought, every forum could bear to have one such black sheep in it's ranks. Also, I don't see it problematic, if the moderator censors or eliminates single posts, which are not bearable. But to erase a whole person including all he ever contributed - that feels really hard for me. From PMs I learnt, that UncleAl had been fighting in Viet Nam, and that he lost his legs there, or at least their functionality. Now, I have never been in a war, but from all I've seen from wars, I know they can change your personality quite a bit, especially when you experienced something like that. That was my reason for bearing many a rude word or line from him (and he insulted me at least twice), which I wouldn't have from anyone else. But what I did even like about his personality was, that he did not change his ways to express himself, just because he got warnings. He remained the guy he was, and an openly rude gruntler is often a lot more honest than a very polite man, who just knows to follow the social rules better. I know he had his warnings, and his chances. Maybe the moderators couldn't allow any further rudeness (I have not seen the post that must have led to this). But I know this must be very hard for him. And I go as far as to say, that I will really miss him.
  6. Could one of the forum moderators, or one of the devs, please give us some info about UncleAl?

Well, thanks, but the honour belongs to our OvS (whish he would sometimes creep out from under his oldtimer and show that he is still alive and hopefully well) - he found that some time ago. It contains incredible professionally made old photographs from the whole Fokker production. A must-see.
  8. Damn - I just checked the sticky "Tips and Cheats", and all the stuff UncleAl had collected is gone from there. That looks like he got banned then?
  9. Completed Mission!

Wayfarer, the modern Anti-Virus programs have a Gaming option. You could look for it in your AV. There, you can select and tick a box, which stops all or at least the problematic AV actions, while you are in full screen mode (which means: gaming).

Which Windows version do you use, Lederhosen? With Vista and now with Win 7 I did never have those problems (I am German).

Well, in most air force operations, they do not simply fly straight to target and back. They use waypoints. That is for orientation, but also for tactical reasons. The OFF warp CAN sometimes go haywire, and you end up in Bavaria or in Scotland. To prevent this, I recommend Hasse Wind's simple method: before he warps, he opens the inflight map. Now he can see the aircraft symbol, and where it goes. Keep one finger on Ctrl. and the other over the "X" key - if the course is going wrong, you press both and get out of warp immediately.
  12. Yep, that's more realistic. The German Jasta didn't do airfield attacks, as far as I know. There were Kampfstaffeln (Kasta), who might have done such missions, and the bombers. The Jasta seem to have operated pretty much only defensively, over German held terrain. As Hasse Wind says - as long as P4 is still in the making, you should use Bletchley's mods. They do not mod (and mess up) anything of your OFF. They simply only give you missions, which are more historically correct. The mods are made for several phases of operation on each side, and Bletchley has written a short, but very informal historical overview for each of them. I learnt more from them. I use them, like them, and highly recommend them.
  13. Fourty years ago, this could have been a text of Monty Python; and 100 years ago, they would have come for you with the armless white jacket, I bet. Mmuahahahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!!! Well, it looks better/more realistic to me than "DragonAge", were I don't like the whole graphic appearance.

You flew over Paris???? Something must be badly wrong there. Missions have several waypoints - but not that far out, I guess? (But I'm mostly flying German side...)
  15. Wayfarer, whenever you have that happening again: do yourself a favour and try "Reset OFF Manager" in "Workshops"; or even "Reset CFS3". It will also delete your pilots, but will save you the deinstallation and reinstallation.
  16. It is something special from England. As fresh and tasty as good butter, but whiter, softer - a delicious dairy product in combination with the scones and the jam. Hmmmm!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clotted_cream
  17. I have often thought, that the lower slider settings require more work from the CPU, calculating everything down. My sim doesn't crash anymore, since I upgraded the CPU and memory. My graphic card was not changed.

Yes, you need some clicking and digging, but it's worth it. Here is another site, which seems like it was made rather for personal use - there are great pictures of the Fokker Aircraft Plant, the production and parts and tests and and and... Click on "pics" here: http://fokkerdvii.com/
  19. Yeah, a recepy would be nice, Slarti! And maybe better than whipped cream would be "Creme Double", which you may be able to buy in Austria too.
  20. That's a lovely poem, Lou - thank you very much, Mr. President! The scones as a colour photograph are torture though! I loved to have tea and scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam, both times I was in Cornwall, but I can't get them here!

lederhosen, you could search through this French website. It contains lots of interesting stuff, but I haven't seen it all through - so I don't know if you'd find it here. http://albindenis.fr...ite_escadrille/ Here is a French pilot certificate from that page:
  22. I have got credited with destroying a "ground target", when I once had destroyed an aircraft. So it's okay to attack them. But it's easier to destroy tents, and you may even go for wooden chests - they often contain explosives and blow up wonderfully.

Lewie, if you want to fly a single mission, you select a pilot in "Pilot Dossiers" in the start screen. then you click on "Quick Combat" also in the start screen. You now get a menue, where you can choose aircraft, enemy craft, numbers of pilots and their qualities. If you want to start a Campaign (which is the most immersive in OFF), you select a pilot and click on "Campaign" then. Where and when the Campaign begins, is sorted, when you create the pilot. Creating one, you can select time and place and squadron etc. Then there is a more detailed way to fly "Quick Combat". In "Workshops" you find "CFS3 QC" at the bottom. If you click that, you get a menue, where you can select more detail for creating a single mission. You can even select from a wide variety of weather.
  24. Well, you should thank James Dietz more than me - hope he wouldn't mind. But it's a desktop meant to honour his great work.
  25. Another good title leant from a good book about WW1 aviation would be "High in the empty Blue".
