  1. P4 may still take some time, Queeg - are you flying P3 already?
  2. Hasse Wind's idea about "Additional Aircraft Packages" after P4 is a good one, and I would like to make my statement here, that it wouldn't have any "immoral aftertaste" for me at all. Other sims do the same. It would be like "food rations" on the long march to P5 then, keeping everyone's appetite up for more. And those who don't think they need the additional planes, just don't need to buy them.
  3. From Julius Buckler's book "Malaula!" I know, that he was a very well trained and naturally talented pilot. Being from a poor workers' family, he didn't have the A-level nor had he been on a college, and such pilots would not be Leutnant, but Vizefeldwebel. Still though, the Leutnants in his Staffel felt secure, when he was the flight leader, and they let him do. Buckler was a man who gave his best, and so they helped him to get the rank of a Leutnant. The Great War was the time, when class barriers began to fall, and the air forces were, where that happened first, I think.
  4. Hey, Crossbones - nice to see you! I'll have a virtual Warsteiner then! Cheers!
  5. No, I never tried or got any of it. For you, it is nostalgia of course, but for me OFF is now, what RB3D used to be for you. OFF is one of the greatest finds I made in my life.
  6. Welcome to the OFF Forum, FreakyStyley! After reading Arthur Gould Lee's "No Parachute", I think I remember, that they changed flight leaders in turns, and if memory doesn't fail me, a more experienced Lieutenant might have lead a Captain? Hope the historians can clear that better. I have only been flying the D.F.W. C.V as a German bomber in OFF, and we always operated very high; 14.000 - 19.000 feet. You should find them there - if you find them. Later in the war, you can find the Hannover also lower - I have intercepted them flying the SPAD XIII. So they are definitely there. Would you send me a PM with your town and country? I'd like to add you to the "OFF Forum Pilots Maps".
  7. A vid you may not have seen

I like the ground scenes, when you can see them from close on. The flying is always a different matter. We are quite aware, that we will never see the wilder and often more desperate combat flying in an airshow. Good quality videos, Widow!
  8. Same with me, Mack! Cheers!
  9. OT - had enough

Buon viaggio, tranquillo, e spaghetti, pizza e vino perfette! I hope that makes sense - never learnt Italian. I wish you sunny weather - let your souls dangle for a while! A postcard would be nice! Have fun!
  10. Yes, Pips, it's cruel to know, that everyone else here used to fly and enjoy "RED BARON 3D". It failed pretty badly in Germany; got bad reviews, and quickly landed in the "bargain bin". I never bought it. Nowadays, I don't give a damn about German Gamer Magazines.
  11. You guys made me wallowing in nostalgia; so I compiled my 90s Caviar Collection: PS: Damn, I forgot "DIABLO"

  13. Thanks for the warning, Mack, but I am used to watch my stress limits - the Albatros' lower wings are quite fragile. Didn't find the "Bebe" so "majestic", to be honest - rather airy and nimble - like a butterfly. I wouldn't want to cross the fire of your Albatros in it. But it climbs naturally!

  15. Okay, Mack, as I had promised - just half an hour ago, I made my first sortie with the Nieuport 11 "Bebe". I am Adjutant Davide Saint Malo from Bretagne, based in Koksijde. My first flight was a "lone wolf" patrol. More in "Reports from the Front".
  16. Welcome to the OFF Forum, theultimat ! The Pup is a great choice for a start - a very agile aircraft with a good lift, perfectly able to fly higher than her most dangerous opponent - the Albatros (my love-bird) - and easy to fly. A sweet screenshot to begin with! If you like, send me a message with your town - I'll see, if I can find space for your name then in our OFF Forum Pilots maps.
  17. Oh yeah, I followed all of that in the news, thanks, Parky! I never like bean sprouts or any other of those sprouts. They are quite in fashion here among those who live from bio-organic food, and I read, they are supposed to be healthy - but that exactly was now proven wrong. In short: I don't like the taste anyway!
  18. Hey, you guys want to make me happy, I guess - all flying my favourite bird! The shot is also cool, TaillyHo.
  19. A "flight sim fast" ? What cruel crime did you commit to deserve this hard verdict ???
  20. "Mmuahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!"
  21. Must be a big change, from the light frame agile turnfighter Nieuport to the solid, calm energy fighter Albatros. How does it feel, Mack? Remember to change your tactics, old chap! Now you reminded me of my promise, and you're right: I will start a Nieuport campaign later today, after work. I'll report. Jasta 26 will drive you kneedeep into furballs with great enemies. I wish you all the luck you need! "Hals- und Beinbruch, Max Vonbarger!"
  22. From the beginning on, I heard from various OFF forum members, who had been in other forums before, that the OFF Forum was unique and special in the ways you mentioned, Pips. And although I haven't been in any other before, my "social wavelength detector" says, that it is true. It may have something to do with the way "Over Flanders Fields" was born and created step by step by WW1 aviation enthusiasts, who worked long times and real hard to achieve the goal of presenting a most "true" simulation of that aerial warfare; instead of just making up a business on a field yet quite unploughed. A lot of knowledge, and a lot of love have flown into it, and that is noticable everywhere. A project like OFF is perhaps more likely to find such a special and well civilised community. I know from several forum members here, that they have both sims, and one explained it so nicely saying: "I love pizza, but some days I like to eat something Chinese" (or similar). For real WW1 aviation enthusiasts it is no problem to have both sims, and to like each one for what it offers. Everyone who can afford buying two, or even more of them, will and should do that - why not? I intend to buy it, when they have sorted out more problems, and I hope, they will stop that online-business. That is something I don't want to be forced to. And an online-competition, that is giving you a rank number ranking you compared to all others, makes it a competition between members - not so good for the spirit in a community IMHO. But whenever I buy it - I would never let down "Over Flanders Fields". OFF has given me, what I had been searching for a long time. OFF has the real depths, which the others are still far, far away from, as I heard. And here at the OFF Forum I found a community I wouldn't want to miss again.
  23. this computer ok for OFF?

Patches? Do you mean mods? I use Bletchley's mods for the various phases of the war. The "Krauts vs Crumpets Campaign" settings and rules were thought out by Siggi; they maybe best explained in his Post No. 54 in that thread: http://combatace.com/topic/37440-off-campaign-did-standard-includes-campaign-krauts-vs-crumpets/page__view__findpost__p__261320
  24. That's always a bad sign. It would be better, if they'd "ask for more". I meant, you should attack from his six o'clock LOW - only if you are below his tailplane, in a climbing angle of ca. 30°, the gunner can't aim at you, until the pilot makes a move (which you can bet the Brisfit pilot WILL do!).
