It's Time To Play, "Who's Paint Is This" !
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Not, if it's for a PLM, Dej - as I own one already. But if it would be any other order - I'd do my best. But don't panik - Lou is well aware of time zones, and did post the last ones at very different times. Come on, Simon - arhm - Widowmaker - you know your skins, don't you? If you skinners here would miss, it wouldn't be right. -
Here's for Parky and von Paulus - with a big Thank you for all your advice. The biggest Thank You went for my friend Roland, who also made good choices, and built the rig. I had promised to send some "porn" from my new rig, so here it is - naked! Mmuahahahahahaaaaaa!!!! Running the sim plus TrackIR fine! CPU: Intel i5 QuadCore (2500k) CPU cooler: CORSAIR Hydro H50 water cooling Mobo: ASUS P8P67 (Revision B3) Memory: 4 GB GSKILL DDR3 The graphic card is still the ATI HD4870 (1 GB), which seems enough for my 1680 x 1050 monitor. I will make an upgrade there later.

Yes, I read an indirect description by Arthur Gould Lee, who heard a tremendous rumbling, roaring thunder northeast of his field at La Gorgue. They were about 25 kilometers away, but they could feel it in the ground. It must have been very terrifying. I wonder how many German soldiers were instantly killed on the ridge; and how many may have been buried alive.

You can say that again, Widowmaker!

Damn, Lou, now you posted this great Albatros design, and Dej answered it all correct, I am afraid that this might have been the only one I could have done right! -
"What is in the Picture?" - A P4 Screenshot Quiz
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
What is in the Picture? - The P4 Screenshot Quiz Just had another stroll through all the lovely new screenshots, and had this idea for a quiz. I will show excerpts from screenshots, and ask questions about them. The first person who can answer all points correctly, will take over and make the next excerpt and ask 3 questions. If the winner cannot make a new picture with his equipment, he will have to name another candidate for the next one. What do you say? To make it easier, I have here the link to the Screenshots: http://overflandersf...view/index.html Here is the first picture. The questions are: 1. What screenshot number is the excerpt taken from? 2. Which aircraft's cockpit is this? 3. What was the wooden mallet at the bottom used for? Here we go! ... -
I'd like to know, how many of us are filling in claim forms, and what they write up, and how. I don't mean you should show your BIGGEST claim ever. Normal would anyway be only a single claimed aircraft, I guess. What I'd like to know - and maybe some of you too - is, how much everyone writes, and what style and with how much detail. So I guess I start with one of mine: [Jasta 2, Proville, 21 June, 1917 - Leutnant Wolfram Harms] Proceeding to our designated patrol area near Arras, we sighted a flight of 4 silvergrey British Nieuport 17 with the Lewis gun, flying about 1.000 feet lower in northeasterly direction. They all carried a red band around the fuselage. Our 6 Albatros D.V damaged three of them in the first attack. While the fourth craft could escape, the other three dived down to the deck very quickly. We followed them, and they all fell within minutes only. I shot the lower left wing off of one craft, and it spiraled down and crashed into some trees, about 4 kilometers southwest of Arras.

Indeed, TaillyHo. I tend to write most things too wordy. Military style should be different; more like yours. I will try to improve that.

Pleading for Labels and other aids
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for the credits, TaillyHo. TSmoke, you need to change the first "F" into a number, to change the opacity. My Labels are on 6 right now (I also tried 7); so it would read: EnemyColor="0x6FFF6633 -

...which would come in very useful, if the Nieuport 17 (for example) wouldn't be able to dive after it with the same speed. The Pfalz or also the Halberstadt may only have had this special advantage of better dive ability - but not yet in the sim. -
A really good example, TaillyHo, as it is as well very informative as it is tight. I will keep it in mind - mine are mostly too wordy still.

"What is in the Picture?" - A P4 Screenshot Quiz

I will give it some more time - Jasta 10 did seem to fly it from 22 November 1917 to 9 May 1918, and they were an elite Staffel. Would they have used it for so long, if it wasn't any good? It was just for the sake of the modelled and skinned craft (it breaks my heart, when they are not being flown after all that work). -

As you mention FMs, Pol - have you kept the Pfalz D.IIIa on your list for improvements? I tried it today, after a long time (think it was in P2), and I must say, the FM is a bit strange. When I climbed towards stalling, the plane "fell off a table" to the left or right in a funny way. It appears a bit weak overall - you cannot raise the nose much, and you get a stall. I know, not many fly the Pfalz here - but that's a shame after all the model building and the skinning, I find; maybe the funny FM is the reason? I know you have already made some improvements, but it feels like there could be second or third looks necessary. -

So even I got an excerpt of the Royal Wedding, which I could watch without getting stomach ache. Thanks for posting, Davy. -
Even before Scrambles, you should know who is flying with you, and write the names up. Not sure what the Claims Manager will do, if you write in "ground crew"?
-
Well, I forgot to mention, that you should choose the correct aircraft you shot down, in the first frame. If you are not sure, pick at least single seat or two-seater.

1) How do you know where you are on the map when you enter a fight? Hitting (m) leaves you with a pretty crude map. Does the info. help get a claim accepted? Open the inflight map and pick the nearest town or go over the nearest airfield with your cursor; the name will then show. Use that and say something like "southwest of Roucourt aerodrome". 2) You can put more than one witness? It says to only put one when you fill out the claim form. Yes, you can, and I always do that; I write it "Josef Becker, Horst Maier, etc." 3) What is the absolute vital information that needs to be on every claim? Your wingmen. The rest is more or less prose. Maybe it can count the amount of words? I like to write up a little there. In P4, it may be able to check more data.

While this happens very often indeed, it does not happen with Monty Python's videos. Actually, the German TV bought all the rights and so supported this fine British humour, which gives us German all the legal rights to see it! It seems. -
Good example, Mike!

Enjoy it, ReDDoT - I know how you feel!

Not this one, no - I just have reinstalled the sim for various reasons. One is, that I wanted it to be on the C:partition now, so it is included in my C: backups. You could write even less. What it needs is one or more witnesses; here you name your wingmen without ranks, which you should note before taking off. The claims don't need any detailed data yet - although maybe in P4 they will. This one was quite long already. No, not necessary. The only thing you MUST avoid, is semicolons. They set a stoppage, and the report will not be complete. Try it out; it's fun to do (IMHO) - but be prepared, that the brass decide about it. Oh, and they rarely ever get confirmed, when your wingmen all were too far away. That is something the sim DOES seem to know.
-
Every now and then, some people, me included, had problems with OFF Manager or CFS3. Sometimes, these seemed to remain there, even after "Reset OFF Manager" was pressed, or after "Reset CFS3" was clicked. I used to have OFF under E:games. But then, if I had to write back a C: partition backup, OFF wouldn't work anymore, cause some data were on C:, and others were on E: Now I have installed OFF newly on my C: partition, which I will backup from now on after every 3 days or sooner. I use ACRONIS for making a total backup of the whole C: partition. I hope, that the sim would work again with the last backup written back. I'll report, if it worked - if it should become necessary. Anyone else did this already?

Impressive monuments, Capitaine Vengeur. I'll put them on my list of places to see, if I ever make it to undertake a bicycle trip from Aertrycke over Douai and Cambrai to the Argonne forrest.
