"What is in the Picture?" - A P4 Screenshot Quiz
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wonderful, Lewie, and correct. 1. The Fokker D.VII F was the craft, that was said to be able "to hang on it's prop" in a climb. One or two extra seconds of steep climb ability could make the difference, when they chased an opponent - or when they got chased. 2. There were indeed two main kinds of screenprinted Lozenge, the Four-Colour and the Five-Colour fabrics. 3. Jasta 10 had yellow noses, and some had also yellow tails. I admit, that I do not know, who's D.VII this is. And the additional question: the skinner was most likely OvS (also known as James Romano - he wrote that he would re-vamp the D.VIIs). Your turn, Lewie! -
Hihi, I think, our American friends are not up yet, and the European ones may be searching eggs with their kids. In Ostfriesland, people are well aware, that it is the resurrection of Jesus. And still, they also celebrate traditions, which have their roots in older, heathen rites, which have been "transformed" by the early Christian missionaries into Christian celebrations. So we have huge piles of wood everywhere over the countryside, which get set afire in the evening - the Easter fires.

I work with Ebay like this: I fix for myself the max. price I would pay for this item, and enter that price in my bid. The bid will NOT go to that maximum now, but only raise about 50 Cent or 1 Euro per bidder. If another person has bid a max. of 30,- Euro, and my maximum was 50,- Euro, the bid will still only raise to 31,- Euro. If no other person bids, I'll get it for 31,- Euro now. If anyone goes higher than my maximum of 50,- Euro, I lost it. But I never check again. I only look in there again, when the time of the auction is over. That way I cannot gamble, and I also save a lot of time and nerves.

Well, it's both, isn't it? The kids (at least in the countryside) will sure search for Easter eggs, and for the hard working people, it is a day off. I wonder, if our overseas pilots even know that tradition of hiding colourfully painted eggs for the children to search them? At WIKIPEDIA, I just found some good explanations for this very old tradition. Here is the connection to Jesus' resurrection: The egg is seen by followers of Christianity as a symbol of resurrection: while being dormant it contains a new life sealed within it. In the Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches, Easter eggs are dyed red to represent the blood of Christ, shed on the Cross, and the hard shell of the egg symbolized the sealed Tomb of Christ—the cracking of which symbolized his resurrection from the dead. http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Easter_egg Happy Easter days, everybody - with or without painted eggs!

What did it cost, Mike?

The good things come to those who treasure them. Congratulations, Dej - the book has found you.

"What is in the Picture?" - A P4 Screenshot Quiz

Okay, here is the next quiz. This aircraft, the Fokker D.VII, was often called the best German fighter of WW1. 1. How was the strongest climbing version's type name, and which engine did it carry? 2. What is the main difference between the Lozenge camouflage on the wings and that on the fuselage of the D.VII in this picture (apart from the colour tones)? 3. Which Jasta is do these markings belong to? And one additional question (the answer on this one does not count though): What is the forum name of the skinner of this craft? -
Wow, thanks, Major! I didn't know this flying Albatros yet!
-
Yes, it says 98° there. My max. temperature so far was 65° - no overclocking yet.

The "Spanish Inquisition" one of those sketches, that are like burnt into my brain. In the German-French TV program "arte" they will present most of MP's sketches in Germany next week! I'll be there! -

Wow, that sounds so complex, that it MUST be right! JFM??? My proposal would be, that I pick the next picture and one question, and you ask the other two, Lou? -
Parky, what max. temperature should I allow for the CPU? (Seems I can chose in the menue - it's now on 98° Celsius). Good to see you enjoying your campaign log, ReDDoT. You picked the Eindecker - going the tough way, eyh?

Well, the aircraft should be an Albatros D.Va. Manfred von Richthofen has never been flying that variant in combat, so he had zero victories in it. But that metal rod - even Mark Miller's CGI Albatros cockpits don't show what it might be. So I make a very wild guess. Could it be a puller, to let the pressure out of the tank at landing? If that's wrong, you are invited to help me here, Lou - and we shall make the next one together. Okay? -
Okay, will do, Parky. Thanks for the link. Looks like you gotta upgrade, Carrick!

Hmmm - sounds like there's another must-have book I should get then. -
Not yet; wasn't necessary so far. But the motherboard's EFI-BIOS makes overclocking rather easy, it seems. There is a "preset" button to overclcok my CPU to a safe 3.7 GHz, which I may try out soon. The more advanced overclocking would still be easy - you can see all values, and as long as I don't raise any voltages, it should be okay. But first, I will try the "preset" way.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIMON MIKE !!!!!

Intel Quad Core Prozessor (Intel Core i5-2500K, 3,3GHz, 6MB Cache, 1155 Sockel) Nice to see you use your new pilot photo, ReDDoT. My sim sliders are set to Aircraft: 5 Terrain Detail: 3 Scenery Detail: 5 Effects Quality: 5 Clouds: 5 The terrain is on 3 only, because I do not like the too grainy detail - it looks too close then.
-
A very happy birthday to you too, TheMightysrc! But please, guys, don't you expect me to remember all this next year. I'm usually very bad with birthdays and would even forget my own one, if others wouldn't remember to call me up then.

My Franglish must have got rusty - I would have betted, Frigidaire had something to do with cooling. Ah well - I'll stick with my Corsair water cooler...
-
Strange, that it is not known - that Bavarian checker must be a very personal marking.

You're in the map now. See "Sticky Threads" above.

I always wanted a blue skin with white stripes on the Albatros D.V. Now I made me one and had a sortie with it. Gee, that was a melee over Lille - we got engaged by three flights of Triplanes during our patrol. But it wasn't the perfect day for RNAS-1. Together with Albatros D.III from MFJ-1, we shot down 6 Tripes altogether. -
That's right, Scout, but he is sitting higher than his windscreen then. May be the reason for his thick mummery?
-
Naw, Shiloh - I like the red hair. Looking hot!
