  1. Javito, smoother, clearer operation of a graphic card cannot be shown with screenshots. They looked good before - they look good now. But the smoothness, stability and non-stuttering can't be shown. I completely share your worst fears about the financial systems, von Paulus. I cannot go on for much longer. IKEA for example pump millions and millions out of each country, and to the Caiman Islands. It's like "money locusts", eating it all, leaving financial deserts.
  2. Well, I'm still here - we had to postpone it for tomorrow. So I tried OFF on the rig for the first time - wooooooooowwww!!!! What a difference! All went absolutely fluid, and I had a totally new view on the world and on enemy craft. Much clearer and easier to follow (althoug I kept the graphic card!). It was a great pleasure to fly even in dense combat over Douai, May 1917. There was a lot of action, but I had real overview, which I did not gain before, due to microstutters here and there. The CPU was not overclocked yet; it ran on 3,3 GHz, and it was all fine! Now we only need to sort out the memory / mobo problem, and the world of OFF will be mine!
  3. The "memory guy" offered me to bring the rig to them and let it there. They would charge 60,- Euro for memory build-in and check. No way. And: we tried two different sets of memory. The second one is definitely in both compatibility lists: ASUS and CORSAIR. The main reason why the ASUS tech man said the board might be kaputt, was that the memory sticks only worked in the two right banks - B1 and B2 - one black, one blue socket. Absolutely unnormal. I have checked in EFI BIOS - the sticks were the right frequency and even the correct latency shown. Still though, the board did not operate, when they were in the correct banks (A2 and B2, both blue). No other configuration worked, but B1 and B2. That's a pity about your shop, von Paulus - I think you were one of the "good dealers". I say "Good bye" for a week or even more now. Olham will be offline for a week
  4. Just tried to arrange it all with AMAZON. But as this buy from from another dealer (no AMAZON direct buy), I will not get the new board sent in advance, like they normally do. I must send this to the other company, they check it, and then I will get a new board sent. Altogether a week, minimum. And I need to work with it. A real bummer that is!
  5. Now I have contacted ASUS Support, and we went through several proceedures / memory stick placings. All logical placing failed, as I knew already. Then he asked me if I had the latest BIOS update. When I told him the number, he realised, that mine was even more up to date than his. His last advice was to go to the Advanced EFI BIOS and set the AI Overclock Tuner to: XMP I did that; and later also tried setting it to "Auto". The memory is getting detected correct. Even those numbers (latencies?) were right: 9-9-9-24-2 The frequency was given correct with 1600. Now I will have to send the mobo back. And I can only hope, that it will all turn out right.
  6. Welcome to this Forum, crash101! Can't help you with this question and hope, some Free Track users will answer it. If you send me a PM with your town and country/state, I would add you to our OFF Forum Pilots maps.
  7. I just looked him up over at The Aerodrome. He was Australian, if I got the flag right? Was he a "Werner Voss-type" of pilot?
  8. Well, I don't see why they shouldn't be as good as mine, ReDDoT? The two-seater was the BE2c, a reconnaisance craft without a rear gun - that's why you got so close. The one that shot you down was either a different type of craft, or you got in front of his forward gun. Enjoy the Albatros D.II - the D.III will have fragile low wings, that break in steep dives.
  9. After upgrading my rig, I got Windows 7 (32 bit) now. I just installed OFF and HitR (as Admin) in this order: - BHaH - Super Patch - Mini Patch - HitR - HitR Update But when I try to start the sim, all I get is this message popping up: "Component 'wmp.dll' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" Any ideas, why that is, anyone?
  10. Not available in my country - a pity, cause I like the Kinks!
  11. 1918(3) MOD

One question, Bletchley: is it possible to have - say - one mod of 1916, one of 1917 and one of 1918 active in JSGME, as they are not for the same period of time?
  12. Shiloh, don't sink back into your pillow like a loser. Hellshade is an Ace of Aces - he has flown many sims and probably died some dozens of deaths, before he got this good. I am pretty certain, that none of the real WW1 aces flew like this, simply because they had only one life to lose. You have to trust your wood & canvas kite a lot to do tempting manoeuvres. Perhaps you read "No Parachute!" by Arthur Gould Lee. There you will find a more normal development of a scout pilot.
  13. Thank you, Mike, that did the trick! Like always, when I get a new Windows, I turn into an apeman again.
  14. I could hardly imagine any more relaxed ways of introducing "the other side of the trenches", the British pilots, to me. You really grow with his reports, his little stories about events; and he is not at all the boasting type. When I read about his first splinter wound after receiving fire from the gunner of a Rumpler, and how he felt the blood running down his leg into his boot; how he was afraid to loose too much blood - and then it shows it's only a minor splinter wound; I can feel so well with his descriptions and him as a person - it is a great pleasure to read. This evening, I know it will be about his first real scrap. I am very curious! And I understand that well, that you keep reading it again and again. He makes you feel being there with the boys.
  15. Thank you, Mighty, that makes sense. Could be that my friend, who did the whole new setup for me, has dropped the Windows Media Player. Maybe when I install it, it will run. Thank you.
  16. I just went through the French squadrons on search for the "reepers" I had met earlier today. Down the list, I came to Escadrilles flying the Nieuport N24. I began to wonder - I had never seen those in anyone's combat reports or screenshots. So: does anyone fly a campaign with any of these: Bristol Scout, N 24; DH-5; E.V (D.VIII); N 28 ?
  17. Yes, a short life (although most WW1 aircraft were not produced very long), and not very high production numbers. The maintenance sure was the reason, as you say - it sounds so logical. What lucky blighters were those RNAS chaps having something as special as the Tripe! Cecil Lewis I still need to read. Just now, I am some 30 pages into Arthur Gould Lee's "No Parachute!"
  18. There is a key for screenshots - mine is F12 (not sure if that was default). Check the "Controls" ingame by pressing "escape". After making a screenshot, you'll later find it in: (computer name) > My Documents > CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields
  19. She is - beside the S.E.5a - the British fighter in OFF, that I feel safest in. Her goog speed and climb, combined with her agility, make it possible to get at the tails of any opponents so close, that the single gun isn't a problem. After seeing lots of pics and videos, I got the impression that she was an "upper class build" - the wooden wingstruts and the whole construction look likethey used better materials to make her solid enough, without loosing the lightness? A craft built like that may of course make more problems at repair.
  20. Aaaaahhhh - a very cool and complex plan of strategy!
  21. Just found the shopping note for the first memory set again. Those were two CORSAIR CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 It would be relatively easy send the board back to AMAZON, but I don't think it's the board's fault. Maybe I really should take the whole rig to the shop, and they should use their experience?
  22. Roland was glad to get it working at all. He said, I should first call ASUS on Monday, and then see what they say about it. Thanks for the tip about KINGSTON. The dealer, where I changed the memory sticks, had also mentioned KINGSTON might be a choice with better chances.
  23. Problem is: I bought the mobo via AMAZON, and the memory at a local dealer. I can't remember the Corsair reference, but you can be assured, that they are in the list for this board on the ASUS website.
  24. Hmmm - I wonder if they will take it back a second time? I had already changed the first pair. But I guess you're right, von Paulus. So it seems, I must travel there once more on Monday. Sigh!
