  1. Oh good Lord - it can't be much longer, and Widowmaker will ask for at least one Border Collie...
  2. The OFF Poetry Corner

Yes, it must be "to receive" or "to absorb", I would say. All other proposals went too far away from the German meaning. Everything else is good, as Dej translated it. I would only change "fielding" into "absorbing", as Lou said already earlier. So my final version of Dej's translation now would be this: Midnight For a long time we have been more than thrice denied. In our efforts coincided all our dreams, those of our fathers and our mothers, Now we stand before our graves, absorbing Deaths, to come to our End. Our reason is thus: We are children of a breed without a child’s rebellion ‘gainst its breeding. Soulless. Our eyes muckrake in our own minds, grubbing out pain. Long time more than thrice denied... and more than one God to benumb. For us there is no blessed return, no ‘Amen’ for our lamentation In tender mouths that once were ripe with sweetness... Our mothers failed us, that bewailed us, We are stunned by their ‘maternal ways’. And that shall never leave us. Maybe if we just acknowledge we are the children of Error The 'Unforgiven' of our time, Maybe then... WHAT? ... Soulless ... A country blanches away, And many fell, and we long for its pillow.
  3. Hmmm - well, it seems to work so far? But I didn't try the sim yet...
  4. It would fit, and I'm pretty sure I have read something similar from him. He was no Frank Luke type of person; he was very cool-blooded and knew, when it was too dangerous to stay. Without any hesitation, he would run away, to come back another day. He would have regarded anything else as being foolish. Damn - must I settle in America, to meet a woman like that??? I ask again: wherewould one meet such girls???
  5. TaillyHo, you want it the tough way, eyh? Always start again in 1915, until one pilot will survive long enough? I gave that up long ago.
  6. Just attack an ammunition truck, and it WILL explode. I'm pretty sure I saw that long after getting HitR.
  7. Seems, Hun cows just are black and white - like our crosses. The British don't have cows - they have Camels.

HPW, the line is "...fangen Tode auf..." ; the verb is "auffangen" That means "to catch up deaths", but it can also mean, "to receive deaths" like you receive bullets, that hit you. In fact, the English word you would best use for "receiving" bullets or hits, would be the perfect word, cause that is, what it sounds like most - they receive the deaths of others like bullet impacts on their own bodies.
  9. "Vell - vee Dsherrmanns like to hav a little technological advantadge, you know? Like: twin Spandaus! Mmuahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!" Well, seriously now - I have my rig back home and just plugged in to come here to the forum. Flying not before tomorrow. What my friend & computer-technical manager Roland and I both found extremely strange: the rig first did not start. Not with the first pair of memory stick, and not with the second, a different pair. The red lamp for memory failure remained on, and nothing more happened. The board is an ASUS P8P67 Revision 3.0 (new B3 Revision). There are 4 banks; A1 + A2; and B1 + B2 The ones are black, the twos are blue. The drawing /plan said, that two stick belong into A2 + B2 But it did not work. Only after searching through several forums, we found the tip to try a single stick in B2. That worked. Now Roland said, before we gave up, we may as well try something even more strange, and he put the second stick into B1. So we had one stick in the black B1, and the other in the blue B2. Anyone ever seen such a setup?
  10. I can only hope, that there will not be others, who demand squirrels running up and down the trees or butterflies dancing over the summer meadows; so Winder can carry on with his great landscaping.
  11. 1918(3) MOD

I had the impression on my last mission with yout 1918 (1) mod, that the enemy AI behaved like the "passive AI" we first received with BHaH. Although in "Workshops" my setting is on "hiastorical", which should be "aggressive" in 1918. It was not really bad though - the SPAD XIII remained higher most of the time and were hard to get at. Still though, they also performed attacks. I will try more over the weekend, and report.
  12. Hey, look at those trees standing neatly in rows along the roads - French alleyways, as they are so common! Well done, Winder! And was it UncleAl, or who else is happy now: I spotted cows at ten o'clock! Wonderful - my new rig will be complete tomorrow; soon I'll also buy a new graphic card; and then I'll have all the patience in the world to wait for what I know will be a great simulation. Thanks for the pictures, guys!
  13. Congrats to your survival on all that, Shiloh! Let me buy you a virtual beer. You did everything right so far, as you were not shot down. Your own safety first; you want to last. Later, you will find out about shooting an opponent down. Will you get the TrackIR soon?
  14. Don't remember anymore, but I think they were gone. You could try the same as me: save the folder: AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields and also the folder "Pilots" from: campaigns > CampaignData > Pilots Maybe we're lucky.
  15. Okay, I keep my fingers crossed! What will be your first plane to fly into combat?
  16. OT: The Other Game

JFM, let's wait a little - there must come some right patches. It will be saved.
  17. Hahaha - on an Albatros D.III or D.V; or on a Nieuport, they would have. You can come in low with about 50% throttle with most planes, and pull back to 10% right at touchdown. With the heavy SPAD XIII, I even cut magnetto, cause she will roll to the hangar anyway. Absolutely! You will find, that you can change any buttons and commands to your likes. You need to create an additional assignment first - then you can delete the old one. It may take some time and trying, until you know, what you put on the stick buttons, and where to put the rest. But now, let's go to the mess - I feel that you are in a cheery mood, so: why not buy us a drink? Cheers!
  18. Yep, done that. I still don't know if it'll work, but it's worth a try.
  19. I'll have a look there, but I think you meant this folder: AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields
  20. Yes, many say, I should soon experience something better. We'll see - I am always a bit careful with optimism, when it's about Windows. I still remember the introduction show for one of the Win versions, where Bill Gates just started to explain the new version on a big screen behind him - and it crashed!
  21. Thanks, Mike, but no, that does not work. I tried it before. Maybe, perhaps, when I save the CFSWW1 Over Flanders fields folder on the C: partition, plus doing this? Don't know. But what the heck - I am still so far away from flying OFF as seriously as Creaghorn, RAF_Louvert and Hasse Wind. Why not give it a new try? Three serious German pilots. Plus one for each other country. Any others for fun. Sounds good, eyh?
  22. Thanks, Jarhead, but it's by far more complicated. My old hard drives will also have to be the new ones. And my sim is installed on another drive than the OS and the savegames - it's on D: I tried before, to save all stuff and save it - in vain. It didn't work.
  23. New to TrackIR 5

Send me your screen resolution, and I'll calculate you three version; from more remote to slightly zoomed.
  24. The OFF Poetry Corner

No, I haven't read this. I haven't even seen the film "The White Ribbon" yet, which seems to be about the German family psyche short before WW1.
