  1. I wanna have a face off with MvR

I wonder if Shredward and the devs may have gone so far, as to let Jasta 11 operate historically, where they really have been hunting back in those days? Knowing, that MvR shot down an aircraft near Nauroy on 12 March 1918, I will click "optional flight" so long now on that day, until I get a mission in that area. Who knows - perhaps I meet him?
  2. 1916(3) MOD

Bletchley, the German Wikipedia says, the Halberstadt D.II appeared at the front beginning in June. What is correct?
  3. Suggestion for AI

Ditto to Creaghorn's post - if it is possible to combine.
  4. I wanna have a face off with MvR

MvR in a Bf109 would be even nastier. I have signed in with 24 Sqdn, RFC, cause they are flying in his area. You got me infected, Widow! But I am pretty ceratin: in RL we would not have wished to meet him. We might not even have caught a glimpse of the red Triplane, before it was over. Anyway - I feel quite confident in my S.E.5a (wonderful craft!) - in OFF.
  5. 1916(2) MOD

You have found a good way to tell the story short and effectively, Bletchley. Great for people like me, who do not have such detailed knowledge about the Great War. As you didn't mention the Halberstadt, I assume it wasn't much of an improvement over the Eindecker. The Albatros was of course a different story. Your sections sure do make appetite to try and fly these early phases of the air war. The different mission types for each phase alone will make it worth it. Thank you for all this!
  6. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update 29 March 2011 - 12:30 h Berlin summer time (= GMT + 2) gosd, Québec, added. The maps are in post 1 of this thread
  7. Welcome to OFF Forum, gosd! First thing to do, is to go to "Workshops" and check the box "off" in "Auto Exit Mission". Now you can make your landing, and still sit in your craft, if you want. Only when you shut the engine down, it may exit. Otherwise press "escape" and in the menue appearing then, click "Exit Flight". After a flight you won't get the log, but the campaign window again. That's normal. If your pilot seemed to have died ingame, but isn't dead in the following Campaign window, then he was regarded by the sim as not being dead. There are three settings to control that in "Workshops": At the right, you see "Outcomes" There are: - Easy: Pilot never dies - Normal: Die roll on death - Hard: Dead is dead I assume, you have it set to "Easy" now, or maybe to "Normal". On "Normal", the sim will roll the die to decide, wether an accident was deadly, if you are hospitalised, or if you are okay. I hope this was what you meant.
  8. Types of missions?

 You made my day, Bullethead! I guess, you didn't even mean this to be funny, but when I saw you with my inner eyes, falling from the sky in your bathtub like Fee nacelle, I couldn' help but laugh out loud. You are the right stuff - many other men might not have re-entered the sim after that.
  9. Gunz, you should give them at least 24 hours for an answering mail. And I don't think it is a good idea and reason for pestering the OBD Team with this. Just wait - even if it must be the hardest thing to do.
  10. I think it was in "Creaghorn's HomeBrew".
  11. Thank you very much, Javito. This and the previous tableaus are compiled from pics, which were taken testing the Bloom & HD Enhancer Creaghorn uses. More contrast.
  12. When I am flying one of my two most serious and longer-lasting Campaign pilots, and getting into serious situations, I often experience: - palms of my hands may sweat - heartbeat getting stronger - pulse frequency increases - a general fear arises, that I may lose the fight this time I often find myself breathing short and superficially, making funny noises or groaning. Also, I encourage myself by saying positive things, like: - Soon I'll get you! - Ha, nice try, that! No way...! - A well centered hit! - There you got, what you were asking for, basterd! - Not with me, you clown! - Take this burst, to shut you up! When I have destroyed the craft of a dangerous opponent, I may even giggle. I wonder, if you guys are doing anything of that, or perhaps something different?
  13. Inspired by Widowmaker's idea to meet the Red Baron in his Dreidecker, I startet a Campaign with 24 Sqdn RFC on 11 March, 1918. Today, we met only Pfalz D.III and one Albatros, which was piloted by Freidrich Altemeier from Jasta 24. I got him shot down despite hampered ailerons. We had fought two flights of Pfalz D.IIIa before, and I shot one down; but then we got under attack from another group of Pfalz, which came as a total surprise, out of the sun. Those guys peppered my kite quite a bit. All these German pilots performed very well, but the Pfalz and the Albatros are inferiour to our S.E.5a - in climb, and in top speed.
  14. Yes, of course most of us do dress like this, Lou, that isn't the point. But don't you ever realise people give you strange looks about that smirk on your clock?
  15. Gunz, it is only just maps, showing where we all live. If you are scared easily, you may have tough times Over Flanders fields. Here are the maps: http://combatace.com/topic/44370-off-forum-pilots-maps/page__view__findpost__p__315225
  16. Mission doesn't end properly?

...as long as no one tries to leave their kite before even landing...
  17. I wanna have a face off with MvR

PS: one advice from me for your fight, Widow - if you pick the Camel; don't let him drag you into left round turning. The Fokker Dr.1 doesn't seem to have a "good side" and a "bad side" - it turns like a devil. The Camel though is superb in right turns, but slow in left turns.
  18. I wanna have a face off with MvR

Well, he wanted to see him in his red Triplane....
  19. Gunz, if you send me a PM with your town & country, I will add you to the OFF Forum Pilots' maps.
  20. A good advice: make yourself a safety copy of the HitR download. Save it onto an external drive, and also on a DVD.
  21. I wanna have a face off with MvR

Well, according to MvR's victory list, his first victory in 1918 was on 12 March. (Don't know, which victories he had on the Triplane in 1917) From 12 March until his end he met fighters from the following squads (I only show scouts we have in OFF): March 12 - No. 64: BrisFit: 62 Sdn, RFC March 13 - No. 65: Camel: 73 Sqdn, RFC March 18 - No. 66: Camel: 54 Sqdn, RFC March 24 - No. 67: S.E.5a: 41 Sqdn, RFC March 25 - No. 68: Camel: 3 Sqdn, RFC March 27 - No. 71: Camel: 73 Sqdn, RFC March 27 - No. 72: BrisFit: possibly 11 Sdn, RFC March 27 - No. 73: BrisFit: 11 Sdn, RFC April 6 - No. 76: Camel: 46 Sqdn, RFC April 7 - No. 77: S.E.5a: possibly 24 Sqdn, RFC April 7 - No. 78: Camel: 73 Sqdn, RFC April 20 - No. 79: Camel: 3 Sqdn, RFC April 20 - No. 80: Camel: 3 Sqdn, RFC So pick your choice, and much success, my friend!
  22. You might gain the impression, that OFF is somehow effecting the brain, Gunz, but I think I can assure you: it's not OFF's fault - we all have been like this before. (Maybe it got worse though?... ... )
  23. Which time in the war do you fly, Widow? Maybe I shouldn't, but I wish you luck to survive, until the Cavallery arrives, olde chap!
  24. Gunz, if you are really into WW1 air combat with deepest immersion, you will find nothing better. No idea about the download, but you can't use it anyway without the main sim.
  25. Question about specs

Without having much knowledge about computers, I can say, that 2,2 GHz is damn short. I am running it on 2,83 GHz, and get stutters still. 4 GB RAM should be enough. Your graphic card I don't know. You shoud try these settings: 5/5/3/2/5/5; cause the "terrain detail", and even much more the "Scenery detail" eat Fraps. Clouds not so much.
