    Don't know the English names in KASPERSKI; in German it is "Gefahren und Ausnahmen" (Dangers and Exceptions), where I can add programs, which shouldn't be checked. I added "OFF Manager Exe" and "CFS3 Exe" there. Also, you should activate the mode for games. In the KASPERSKI main window, click on "Settings" (top right), and in the tree you get at the left, it's the last one "profile for games". Click there, that KASPERSKI shall not investigate anything, shall not update or do other tasks. (This only, when you are not online, of course).

  3. Just felt a bit in need of company after a flight in a Sopwith scout. And just for the fun of it, I made a flight in a two-seater: a Roland C:II. Man, that beast is a joy to fly. I heard my gunner giving his best, and I let him do that part of the job, cause my shooting with the rear guns is less effective, but I pilot much more evasive. The whole time during our fight against Pups, I felt the presence of the second man in the kite quite comforting. Even if I should die, I won't die alone. Hope you don't regard that as being crazy? So, why don't you try the "Walfisch" - or the Bristol Fighter? What about the "Fee"? You won't fly alone!
  4. When I'm flying the Albatros D.III and D.V, I often eliminate altitude by taking the throttle back, banking hard, and falling sidewards. I hardly ever get stress messages that way. I can even dive pretty steeply - as long as I take back throttle, it doesn't stress the craft much. Now I tried to follow the ace Nungesser in an Albatros D.Va, performing all the same way. But whatever I tried - I got yellow stress messages all the time, and finally, the whole right lower wing came off. The Albatros D.V and D.Va had a strengthening strut at the V-strut. So, why should an Albatros D.Va break so much easier than a D.III ? That can't be right? (And right now, I am NOT using a third party DM mod, cause I had a complete re-install).
  5. If relaxedness has a name... cool, Ras. The embedding goes so, that you copy the YouTube address line from the upper browser frame into your post. But you seem to have done so. I don't know, why some show a YouTube frame, but yours doesn't??? Guys, this wasn't meant to be a thread for ALL the wonderful songs you like. It is not fair to RAF_Louvert, to post more than one.

    Javito, if you buy CFS3 new, get the DVD version (which is 3.1 or 3.1a). Then DO NOT INSTALL CFS3 at all, but install OFF. It will ask you during the install, to insert the CFS3 DVD. It will copy the necessary files from there, and continue install. No need to install CFS3 at all. I did that last time, and it works fine.
  7. Good stuff there over at the Aerodrome, Pips. Thanks a lot for asking there! Here's what I condensed from the "professional" answers: 1. The Albatros did not have more wing failures at high G than other aircraft of the time 2. The Albatros D.III showed wing tip failures only at prolongued dives with full throttle. Idflieg released a warning, that the pilots should not perform such diving for 1000 Meter or more. 3. Wing root problems (plus overall structural problems) occured with the light-built D.V The wing tip problem first still remained with this type. Quote Dan San-Abbott: With the Alb.D.V project, Albatros engineers re-designed the Alb.D.III lightening the frame work to to reduce the empty weight in order to improve performance, and aerodynamic improvement Albatros in streamling the fuselage to reduce drag to further improve the performance. However, the engineers did not correct the lower wing rotational problem, and failures still occured. With the over lightened Alb.D.V frame work, other structural problems arose with the fuselage. Again Albatros re-designed the Alb.D.V, re-strenghening the entire airframe and with the re-design fuselage added and attachment fitting on the fuselage to the lower wing leading edge and with the short bracing strut at the base of the V interplane strut, resolved the lower wing rotation problem. ... ... Idfleig cautioned pilots not to dive more than 1000 meters, ( if my memory serves me correctly. It was only when the Alb.D.III or Alb.D.V would dive at full throttle where the airspeed increased sufficiently to cause the center of pressure to move back and caused the rotation of the lower wing about the spar attachment. This could not be accomplished in level or turning flight. This same thing occured with the S.E.5 with the high raked wing tips. The Royal Aircraft Factory engineers resolved the problem on the S.E.5 by decreasing the rake of the wing tips by reducing the span from 27"11" to 26' 7 1/2 ". The S.E.5a could be dove to about 250 mph, at which time terminal velocity attained, and where thrust equals drag. Blue skies Pips, Dan-San 4. The Albatros D.Va was again re-designed and changed at many points. The wing tip failure as well as the wing root failures were eliminated here.

  13. I always wanted to put the aircraft, the units and the victories of some aces into relationship with each other. So I have made this chart. What's mainly missing is periods of being on leave, or being wounded. If someone has the data for that, I will flick them in and replace the chart.
  14. Yeah, no problem, Lewie and Lou. I had made this chart for a different reason anyway. I wanted to illustrate, how much time lay inbetween his kills, until mid-1918, when he suddenly seemed to "explode" - maybe due to the right aircraft, or maybe due to the fact, that the previous German "ace of aces" had been killed. I do not know, wether the High Command put him under any pressure, or if he did it just from his own motivation - or if it really only was the "right" craft. But my chart should definitely demonstrate, that we are making far too many kills too easily. I am thinking of making a second one for MvR, and maybe also some Entente pilots.

    Maybe you must make sure, that you have totally de-installed everything, Javito. In Windows Vista, there are also files under "(your computer name) > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields" Eliminate that last folder - it will be made new, when you make a clean install. Then, after installing CFS3 and after patching it, make sure to go to the field and start an aircraft just once. That causes the CFS3 to make that forementioned folder new. I hope that will help.

  19. You guys can't seem to imagine, that the "better" Camels got shot down? But when you catch one by surprise, or when it's outnumbered, or when the angle is just right, you can shoot down everything. He shot down 2 in the Dr.1, which is not at all asthonishing - the Dr.1 could very well handle the Camel - and then 8 in the D.VII, which was also a great fighter. So why not?
  20. Be with your family as much as you ca - when OFF arrives, they won't see you much anymore! Today, I made my first campaign flight in the Fokker D VII. It is good that I had the Creaghorn/Elephant tracers, otherwise I might have mowed SPAD XIII. So I got two: one caught fire; the other lost it's wings. The latter was the French ace Armand Jean Berthelot from Esc. 15. If the D.VII was only a little prettier... D.VII: "Mirror, mirror on the wall - who's the most beautiful of them all?" Mirror: "Not you, my Lady in Lozenge; but - you're a Killeeeeeeeeeeeeer-Queen; dynamite on a laser beam!"

  22. What I was wondering about: although he had the Dr.1 Triplane since mid-March, he doesn't begin that high scoring before end of May. Before that, he had 22 victories. MvR died on 21 April. Only after that, Udet goes so "berserk". Or was the enemy air activity so much higher by end of May, that it was much easier to kill so many?
