  1. Yes, tell him! He should enjoy it for the time being. The D.III is another story. But the D.III is a good fighter - you only have to be more careful with high G.
  2. I didn't find it that bad, but you make me wonder now - think I shall have another ride on it later.
  3. What??? The Fee SHOULD behave more like a scout, but in my OFF, it never does. Maybe it does, when you take the gunner position? Never tried that. But it's hard to hit anything, and you will be more helpful, if you pilot the crate so, that your gunner always has a clear field of fire. Then he'll be really useful. No problem, TaillyHo - the Albatros isn't the best fighter - I simply love it and overlook it's mistakes. The DFW is rather ugly, but a very good early two-seater. She can climb away from Nupes, cause she has good climb and still more speed. She can dive well, but she cannot dive better than the Albatros D.II - better than the D.III yes, cause that version had those weak lower wings.
  4. True, Lewie - the Camel appears too easy to me too, after all I've read about it's twitchyness. I think it's a concession made to the players, so that this famous bird wouldn't frustrate them too much. And yes, I know the Fee is a fighter - Bullethead keeps chiseling that into our common memory every now and then. Now you got ME confused, TSmoke - I meant it, as TaillyHo explained.
  5. P4 AI suggestion / request

Another good idea, and quite easy!
  6. Not this week, HPW - I will have too much to do, work & privately, and want to fly at least a little bit in my campaign. There must be other Albatros pilots around? Aaaaaalbatros!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaalbatros!!!!!!
  7. Oh yes - we have several famous Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried- digger-dingle-dangle- dongle-dungle-burstein von Knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander- knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumblemeyer-spelterwasser-kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte- ein-nürnburger-bratwustle-gerspurten-mitz-weimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shönedanker-kalbsfleisch- mittler-aucher von Hautkopft. The one from Frankfurt an der Oder comes to mind, famous for inventing the alternative condoms made of jute. Or the guy from Stuttgart-Sindelfingen, who inventet the Bratwurst. He changed his name before he became famous with his invetion; he called himself Johann Gottlieb Brats. Also invented the Bratspfanne (frieing pan). To name only two.
  8. Quite the masochist, eyh? What did I say?
  9. P4 AI suggestion / request

Interesting idea. I don't know if it can be done, but that would be one way to deal with it.
  10. P4 AI suggestion / request

Mmuahahahahahaaaaa!!!!! Well, honestly: if the AI had a way to post here, they would probably have their own requests. Flying into thick clouds was dangerous - let the AI have some advantage, and don't do it anymore. (I also learned this some time ago - also the hard way: my Albatros was fire wood after that.)
  11. How often do you......

My average is one mission per day; and no QC at all. Rarely, I fly two missions, like on weekend. But more than two missions feels already straining to me.

Olham: "Have you done that sugar-in-the-tank trick again, BB?" Bordeauxred Baron: "Vott??! Mee?!?!?! Vould I work vizz such dirty trickz?! Zatt vass not necessary, since my spies could convince der cook of der British squadron... Ouch! Now it iss out! Ah, vott ze heck - to hell vizz der Crumpetz, der cook and der sugar! (Pol goes to the cupboard and opens a small paper packet soup. The label reads: "Instant Lies" - just add four cups of boiling water)

Well, as for most realistic conditions, I think Creaghorn is quite right. If you fear, that it would become too tough, Hellshade - well, it is obviously not tough enough yet; we make lots of kills in short time, which is totally unrealistic. I don't say, OFF is easy to survive in realistc settings now - but that has other reasons. For example, that the AI won't make an orderly retreat from a fight, but fights on to the last round; or it's because we meet more enemy flights than the RL pilots did. But as for the hits on an aircraft, I think Creaghorn is pretty much spot on. MvR had 80 victories, Udet had 60 - but the way we are doing in OFF, we can achieve that in only one month of flying. That is just too far away from the real air combat of that time. Making the hit spots more realistic would be one good step on the way to more realism IMHO. An even more evasive AI would be another (some scouts do already perform phantastic evasive manoeuvres, but the two-seaters (except Roland C.II and Brisfit) don't do any. And those who don't want it so hard, can still set up "Workshop" for easier results.
  15. Reading that Monty Pythons song makes me wonder about that funny relationship the British have with the Germans. They seem to like to "super-Germanise" words. Very funny, Bullethead, but not quite the right thread, you rascal you!
  16. My Albatros pilot, Lt. von Keltsch, had been wounded in the leg and has been reconvalescent for three weeks. Now he just made to more sorties with the Albatros D.Va, only to read on his return: the new craft has arrived. We are now equipped with the Fokker D.VII. I know I would have been glad in RL, to receive this great fighter; but for a lover of the Albatros' sleek design, the D.VII is quite a big change in style. This will be the first time in OFF Campaign, that I will fly this fighter. Don't even have an own skin for it yet.

No, I often take off first, and it never happened to me. This the first time I hear that. You should perhaps write the Squadron, date, mission time, mission target and mission type to: support@overflandersfields.com Then they can investigate and maybe eliminate it, when it is a fault.
  18. OT: Crazy Busy, But Still Here

Lou, thanks for waving from the bypassing car! Do what must be done, and then come back more often, when you can. I am just starting to read Arthur Gould Lee's "No parachute" in English, after so you and so many others here mentioned it as one of the first three books to read about the British side. The form of just showing us his letters and diary entries of those days, is quite intriguing. I can really imagine, when he said back in 1968, when the book was made, that he didn't recognise that young lad, who was doing all those risky things back in the Great War. I can say already, that I like the book.
  19. What was your tune, Bullethead? The video's not available for me here.
  20. Yes, I did, Bullethead. It's only, that my brain is like Swiss cheese, and the print-out is always slipping off my knees in tight turns! ...
  21. Eric with the Animals sang a definite classic pop song there, Steve. I know what you mean, Lou. I had the same problem first. And I could only pick one, when I thought about which piece really had the "deepest impact" on me. I could easily list dozens of songs here, which I believe to be immortal. Does Bob Seeger still play with the Silver Bullet Band, Typhoon? The man was/is a classic rocker.
  22. Hmmm - okay, I'll try to be careful enough to get to the D.VII F. Never flown it so far; not even QC.
  23. Most popular Movie theme

TSmoke, you simply need to go to YouTube or other video channels, find the desired video, click it, and when the video appears in the play window (it doesn't need to run), you copy the address line of it, which your browser is showing in the top frame, and insert it into your post. That's all. Stupidity may often be natural, but I guess, you only suffer from a lack of knowledge. The latter can be overcome.
  24. They sure look great - both of them.
