  1. WoP is really looking good (a bit greenish thoug?). You can be glad you didn't have to suffer through the G-effects on your hell trip.

You're a good wingman to fly with I'm sure, Lou! Could you save your hunted friend?
  3. HPW, I don't know what you can do, but the Albatros should IMHO be more like this: - in a steep dive, the lower wings would warp so much, that the part outside the V-strut might break off, if you don't stop it. In a longer steep dive, it must happen; maybe the whole wing would even come off. - high G-turns should not be a problem IMHO, until there is really a strong G-effect on the wings.
  4. If you feel you are getting bored by the sim: has it ever occured to you, that it might be your own fault? Here are some proposals how to cure such a disease. Q: Are you mostly flying in Flanders? A: Fly in the Alsace region for a change of landscape! Q: You always pick rotary planes? A: Try a campaign in an inline engine! And the other way round. Q: Are you always flying with the British? A: Fly the Germans, or if you can't really do that - the French, or the Americans! Q: Are you always flying as a flight leader? A: Try flying by rank, and learn to follow orders! Q: You only fly scouts? A: Start a two-seater campaign, to learn how tough their job is. You may even change to the rear gunner position in air combat! Q: Your favourite time is 1917, and so you always fly then? A: Start a very early campaign in 1915 or 16; or jump into the hell of 1918 furballs! Q: You always follow the blue line in the TAC to find your waypoints? A: Switch all that off, and fly like a real man - with a prepared paper map. Draw in your course, and try to find it then. You'll see - it's easier than you thought, and you won't be so fixated on clashes and combat only. You got the idea. Try something NEW for you, that is already there in OFF P3. Me for example, I'm almost only ever flying Albatros scouts, as the flight leader. I will now join a British squadron, that has the Pup. Only one gun, and a rotary engine - that should be a new experience.
  5. Thanks for the tips, TaillyHo. Late 1916 it will be. I will join an RNAS squadron, that will later receive the Tripe. That may compensate for the struggle against the Albatros D.II - if I survive long enough.
  6. Good enough for me. The Albatros D.Va could hardly do anything better than its opponents. Still I shot some down. I know my weak spot is, that I can't stay away from the hot stew. So I'll never last for a whole year. But with this crate, I should be able to take some more down before my end. Damn, yeah, that poem is pretty old fashioned German - or Japanese would also fit.
  7. Thanks for the links, Hellshade. Hard to say, what's better. CoD's FM behaviour seems to look more realistic to me; WoP looks a bit better maybe. I'll wait 'till I have my new rig (end of April), and then I'll see. Pacific would be great!
  8. OT Howard Hughes

Yes, it's available at AMAZON. Don't forget to mention the Zeppelin scenes - very good the interior ones.
  9. OT Howard Hughes

The film was pretty touching and disturbing - a fascinating character indeed; great acting by DiCaprio.
  10. Well, I know it's a great fighter. I may like it's abilities. I may be able to shredder more enemy craft. But all the time, I will know I'm sitting in this ugly soap box. Ah, what the heck - für Kaiser und Vaterland!
  11. Yeah - well, better than to die early...
  12. Hihi - no, UncleAl, those additional stiffeners are just little rod in front bottom of the V-strut. They were supposed to prevent the lower wing, which had only one main spar, from fluttering. As early as with the D.III, Manfred von Richthofen had let his mechanics attach such struts. But they did only help a little bit - you could still not dive steeply in that craft.
  13. Oh yeah, a Pacific theater! I'd love to fly there with a good sim. I wonder, which will be better: "Wings of Prey" or "Cliffs of Dover"?
  14. Okay, that might explain it then. So, despite the inforcement, the wing may break earlier due to more fuselage weight. Seems to make sense.
  15. P4 AI suggestion / request

I am with you for a "hardcore" DM, Creaghorn and HPW - I won't learn it any other way. As for engines: don't know how big the hit boxes are, but there should be a rest of "engine so damaged, it fails" It only need to be very small, to decrease the chance. Wings: sounds right Cables: my choice would be "very low probability of hits" Rudder, elevator and aileron: sounds right Tank: tank hits did occur - even MvR was forced down by one. Maybe "increase hit points"
  16. Okay, thanks, HPW. To make sure, I didn't just have a rotten craft.
  17. HPW, I was NOT talking about ALL Albatros here, but about the D.Va specificly. The D.III and the D.V are NOT like that - I have flown them before. The D.Va breaks up easier - which it shouldn't.
  18. Wonderful photos, JFM! Especially, as the wings are rarely ever shown from this angle close on.

Ditto to that. There are enough settings in "Workshops", which would allow to make it easier.
  20. Thanks but not necessary, von Paulus. "Wannseekonferenz" is on TV here every now and then.

That Nupe is an absolute keeper, Mack! Tight action there, Widowmaker! To be honest, I have not kept all my screenshots. But fortunately, there still were some good ones. Here is my choice:
  22. I checked, and it is only coming out in the video shops here soon. I may watch it. And I am already sure, I'll have a big knot in my throat again. Thanks for the tip.
  23. Many of you may have played FALLOUT 3 already; I only bought it now. In Germany, we have the stupid tradition to censor all violence in games. So, blood is not allowed to flow after a shotgun wound, brains not to be splashed against walls etc. Our unholy heritage from the Nazi time, I suppose. But now I found me the "Game of the Year" edition from Austria (they don't have that censorship, athough Hitler had taken them "back home to the Reich", so they also had lots of Nazis). But - nevermind - this Edition contains these add-ons: - Operation: Anchorage - The Pitt - Broken Steel -Point Lookout - Mothership Zeta All that for 29,- Euro. Sometimes, god is with those who can wait. But now I can't wait any longer - where's the disk? ...
  24. Just in case you haven't been here, in the download section "Maps, Missions & Campaigns", have a look there. You may want to fly special missions, built by other pilots here. I have enjoyed RAF_Louvert's "Olham's escort to the Thames", and there are several others. And: maps - lots of maps.
