HitR will not only add new aircraft, TaillyHo - it will also offer a second AI choice. So you can have a more defensive, and less aggressive AI - if you want.
-
Thank you, TaillyHo. It was colour, as you can see in the other thread, where I offer it as a desktop. But in this brownred tone, it looks more as if it was from that old time.

Were not Taube planes still used in the early days of WW1?

The original pictures on "The Vintage Aviator" website all have a bluegrey stamp in them, to protect them from being used for any prints or other business. I confess, that I have deliberately removed this stamp, for optical reasons, of course. If you guys from "The Vintage Aviator" see this, I hope you won't drag me to court for that, but as you can see, I have named you as the authors of this picture, and it is after all only a private desktop, not made for making money with. If any of you OFFers should copy this desktop (which is 1680 x 1050), then please use it only for your own private computer, okay?

My new Desktop: Vzfw. Mai's Albatros D.Va built by "The Vintage Aviator"
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lewie, I took it for fun, as you meant it. ReDDoT, I can only hope that they won't mind. But I had to do it - their Albatros is such a special sight - this craft didn't exist in flyable form anywhere before, as far as I know. So my "picture-piracy" was actually an act of respect for their great work; and an act of love for it. -
Perhaps you don't know this site yet, Lewie - here are some great two-seater picks. http://www.earlyaeroplanes.com/archive1.htm Here is an Albatros C.V

Good find, Lewie.

Heeeeeyyyy!!! What do you think I am, Lewie?! I am NOT part of OBD Entertainment Group - and so I am NOT receiving a single penny for what I post here. I guess, then it MUST be my very FREEDOM of choice, what I post here, right? I mean: when you guys want something else for a difference - which might actually be quite nice (although I can't think of anything nicer than Albatros?!?) - WHY THE HECK are you not posting other stuff?! -
This is another fine scenery you have built there, Dej! There is even a German mechanic taking a wheel apart in the right tent. Von Richthofen's "lucky leather jacket" can be recognised even from this distance; he is also standing in a pose typical for him. Great job! I still wonder: when you can build a Fokker Triplane so fast - what is the more stressful stuff of building a model for OFF then? The cockpit must be a tricky fiddling, of course. Or is it the moveable parts?

A Beauty: Wingnut's ROLAND D.VI by Ray Rimell

WINGNUT have a Roland D.VI now - it looks great, when it's built by Ray Rimell, as you can see here: http://www.wingnutwi...42C2C53DE4CEF97 Also, check the other models Ray has built - he is a real master. If we could have these in OFF (hint, hint!) - I'd promise I would fly them a lot! -

Hasse Wind, I'm sure, both your remark and your trademark are already understood by the devs. I am pretty certain, that the Pfalz D.XII will be added before the Roland D.VI would. And also, I think they are working on two-seaters. I will be quite glad with the Pfalz D.XII - not as ugly as the Fokker D.VII, which I never fly for that reason. But dreams are what keeps us afloat - and I like to dream of having a Roland D.VI some day. -

No, I can't build missions, Lewie, but there are downloadable ones, created by other users, in the download section. Wayfarer, I understand you landed on an own airfield? As a two-seater crew, it would of course be far more difficult trying to fly after paper maps. It cannot be achieved at once; you must study the ground details on several sorties, before you know your area. -
Well, my opinion and impression is, that the AI is already quitey aggressive. I find it almost impossible to fly Creaghorn-style, and not to get into a fight almost every sortie. And that they never attack all at once, seems historically correct to me - you wouldn't create a furball, if it's not necessary, but rather let two scouts do the job against a single one. About your second point: maybe the hit areas could be more defined, so that engine hits have to be really concentrated on the engine area, and rudder only on the rudder angles and wires. The rudder, wings and elevators should be possible to shoot through the mere fabric, without doing much damage to the control. Also, large areas of the fuselage could be shot through - depending on the angle of course. Hit from behind, the fuselage is merely a small oval, and the rounds would hit the pilot, tank or engine.

I know, I know, but it looks so cute - I sure want one! And I would really try, how good I could be with it in 1918. It has some strengths the Albatros doesn't offer. -
Don't panic, Wayfarer, I don't believe P4 will be ready before next Christmas. I bet they want to add a lot. I am flying P3 almost every day, and I still haven't been in each and every Jasta yet; not to speak from the British, French and Americans!

Olham replied to Dej's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It's from the film "Conspiracy" with Kenneth Brannagh. Haven't seen it yet, and I'm not sure if I want to. I feel as if I know too much already about what my people here in my homeland have done, only little more than 70 years ago. And as for Adagios, that may tear my heart out, I only need to start OFF. -

To come back to the Roland D.VI: here is a translation attempt I made from German Wikipedia, as the English page text was much shorter. In service, the L.F.G. Roland D.VI did certainly prove itself. Her ample cockpit offered good vision in all directions; the craft did respond sensitively and climbed impressingly fast: 4.500 m were reached in 25 minutes, and the craft was still very fast with 160 km/h at this altitude. The beneficial short-takeoff qualities were opposed by a delicate landing behaviour, mostly caused by the narrow gear. Also, the Benz engine tended to overheat at higher stress. On 31 August 1918, about 70 D.VI were in front service. -

Aaaahhh! A video that works for me! Cutie with a good voice! -
Hmmm - perhaps it IS affecting one's health?

And here is the picture in colour, as it was first.

Thanks a lot - took me quite some time to remover the "Vintage Aviator" stamp from the picture. I did it for reasons of looks, not to steal it; that's why I added the line. If you haven't seen it: they have a photo & video documentation about the building of this plane. It was finished in the colours and markings of Vzfw. Josef Mai, Jasta 5. Here is a great video:
