I always have smoothness on 30, I think. Doesn't 100% "eat" much more graphic power? I must try it on 50% - maybe I would feel less nervous in fights?

Dammit! Early British Campaigns are tough
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Another pilot has bitten the dust - this time due to a collision with an Eindecker, who insisted in having right of way. I see, that I will have to learn to fly the kite much more, before I can think of scoring in her. -
TaillyHo, you were right. The Pitch could be much improved. I have changed it now, and the new file is attached above as "Olham 2011". Now the Pitch isn't so "nervous".

Yes, I know, Creaghorn. What I meant was, that the Roland C.II also rather behaves like a shark. In my fight above Douai, they controlled the situation most of the time. They are just so much stronger, and they climb and dive like a Helter Skelter, while you in your DH-2 could only try to follow without getting into a spin. Flying and fighting in the DH-2 is a challenge. Everyone can be pretty good in a Fokker D.VII. But to make it for a longer period of time in such a crate is tough. She has a good lift, but you can only turn tight, when you gain energy in a diving movement. So you have to either regain height every now and then, or you will end up low. I have already signed a new pilot in with 24 RFC - now I want to know it. It may be the right craft and squadron, to get me more in the direction of flying careful and less aggressively - more, as if it could cost my life; or at least my freedom. -
If "Pitch" is the looking up and down movement, then you must not have it symmetric. The looking down can be slower than the looking up. But I'll have to check it again - I used a third person's profile and worked my way from there. The "Pitch" was okay for me, so I left it. I often fly my fighters hard banked in tight curves, so when I'm "lying on my side", the looking up is actually the looking forward into my turn, to keep the opponent in my view. That's why I like the looking up to be real quick.

How to find another Forum member's older posts
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
If you are new to this forum, you may not know how to get to another person's older posts. I myself only found it out recently by chance - now I find it quite helpful. You can click on the name of the forum member, to get to a menue, where you click on "Find my content" (at the left side). Then you can choose in a selection box at the top right, if you want to see the posts, the person answered to; or the posts he started. After making a selection, you click on the "Refresh" button, and now you should get a list with all the posts. -
Wow - I didn't expect so many people to find it - we don't seem to have so many on the forum right now? Congrats, Creaghorn!

How are you testing framerates?
Olham replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Duke, your NVIDEA Control settings should be right the way you have them. Wodin, I guess, you will get a smoother "glide of view" during fast head movements with TrackIR, when you have more than 25 fraps. PS/Edit: Duke, I think you did follow my "Graphics Setup Guide"? If not, try it out. http://combatace.com/topic/60374-an-easy-pictorial-guide-graphics-setup/page__view__findpost__p__452080 -

UncleAl, did you mean the "Auto Mixture" in "Workshops"? That was switched "on" in my case. Bullethead: Real men fly keep flying a DH2 or Fee in this period... That's what I will do - get back on the horse once you fell off. The British SPAD VII is very alluring, but I find the DH-2 quite attractive. Her only Nemesis is the Roland C.II. That beast should be called "Hai" instead of "Walfisch", and the DH-2 often finds herself in the defensive. -
With one smiling and one mwet eye, I watched these "Bone Yard" tour videos incl. tour guide. Enjoy! Aircraft Graveyard Tucson, Arizona Part 1 Aircraft Graveyard Tucson, Arizona Part 2 I am only allowed for two videos - there is a third part, you may want to see too.

How are you testing framerates?
Olham replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Duke, did you make sure you have unticked the boxes "Use application settings" in your GPU manager? I tried testing the fraps with the "Z" key today; got the red text in the upper left corner, and it showed 60 frames per second and higher - but I had stutters! Could it be, that TrackIR caused them? Do you think, I should raise the "Priority Levels" of my Catalyst Control Center or of TrackIR to "higher than normal", or even to "High" ? -

Uuuuhhh! That was nasty! But maybe you're right - I'm still too much a boy in the air. Dammit! Interesting idea about the sugar. They must have used sugar rounds. When one gets into the tank - brblllppp...pop! - engine out! Interesting idea for a weapon. Not quite the German standard, but interesting. -
Dammit! Early British Campaigns are tough

I still wonder, what else could have happened. Tank filling remained stabile at 83%. Magneto still worked. But when I pressed "E" for automatic engine start, I got a yellow message saying: "Automatic engine start failed. Try manual start." What did they mean? -
All New P3 Medals While We're Waiting For P4

Lou, this is absolutely amazing work of yours, Sir, and I cannot see any reason to struggle on with mine. Yours are perfect, and I will use them, if I may. -

Good one, Carrick! Man, Widowmaker - now I know, why you sometimes fly German side. I must fly way more careful next time. I could have escaped - but I cannot leave my wingmen alone in a desperate situation. -

Your side or ours? If it was ours, it may have been Flak, firing after you? Yeah, those moments, when you don't know where to put the kite down... -

Lou, they look superb! I will use your Entente medals; they are really fine! -
Thank you for the hint - I'll give it a try.

All New P3 Medals While We're Waiting For P4
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thank you for your details, Lou! They are really helpful, and my attempts are getting better now. Please don't regard is as any disregard of your works (which I may use in the end anyway) - it is just the enthusiasm of doing the graphic bits myself, cause I enjoy doing them so much. I will send you a PM with my blue velvet bachground - just in case you want to experiment with that one too. Thanks again! -
I'm wondering about a benchmark for the best minimum speed of the CPU, like: If I want to run all sliders on 5, with Fraps of minimum 40 - what minimum frequency should the CPU have? Also: what about dual core and quad core? I have read here, that CFS3 wasn't made for quad core and therefor wouldn't benefit form it. But a friend of mine said, even if that was right, the rest of the system and Windows would benefit, and would still run more smooth? Any good knowledge?

Workshop buttons "Reset OFF Manager" and "Reset CFS3"
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It can happen, that OFF won't work anymore. You get messages telling you, that this or that can't be found or doesn't work; whatever. At such a point, many of us seem to do a complete uninstall and then a new install. I want to recommend here to try two easier steps before all that trouble - because they helped me several times. If you go to "Workshops", you can see two buttons there. "Reset CFS 3" and "Reset OFF Manager" Pressing any of them will delete all your pilots - but that would also happen in a new install. The error warning message may teel you, where the problem lay. If you don't see it anymore and have forgotten, you should first try the "Reset OFF Manager" - that helped me at least three times. If that won't work, you should also try "Reset CFS 3". I had to face such problems about 5 times. Only once I had to do a totally new install. You may save a lot of time. -
The Eindecker's service ceiling may be given as 3.000 Meter (9.842 feet), but in "Voices of Flight" a British pilot describes how he met one at 13.000 feet. Here is a Wikipedia page about the Eini in German - you can click it to English, but won't find the technical data chart there. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fokker_E.III#Fokker_E.III
-
Next time, try "Reset OFF Manager", and if that didn't help, try "Reset CFS 3". One of those was often all I had to do.
-
I'm not cocky very often - I save it for Widowmaker. Special treatment to make him tougher, so he'll be prepared when he will find my Albatros at his rudder. I actually like a good cup of tea myself, by the way.

All New P3 Medals While We're Waiting For P4
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lou, I'm still fighting to get them right, cause I want some things differently. But I may find myself using your medals in the end, plus my own "Scratchboards (Squad signs) and "Nationality" board. Here is what I got so far - no way to get a more decent res, it seems.
