  1. WIKIPEDIA shows this page only with that detail in German - the English site is much shorter. That's why I ive you the German link here. The picture seems to be showing all orders; those from Prussia as well as Anhalt, Württemberg, Sachsen, Bayern, Mecklenburg, Braunschweig, Baden, Hessen and Lippe. http://de.wikipedia....hes_Kaiserreich Something to wallow in for all the enthusiasts of medals.
  2. Yep - it must be a giant difference between what the people back home see, and think, and believe to know, to what the soldier knows he saw and felt.
  3. When the wall was opened again, I used to ride per bicycle through east Berlin a lot. It was another world. I should have taken many pictures; it's unbelieveable, how much the face of east Berlin has changed now we are re-united. In 1990, you could clearly see, where former East-Berlin began. Not anymore now. But in the heads of people, it will only really grow together, when the generations are gone, which have lived departed. A funny sidenote: it's the same with the animals. They have planted chips under the skin of the deer populations along the former DDR border. Now they could check their ways per satelite (or godknowshow). Until today, the deer from the east do not move over into "western terrain" - although there is no wall nor any other hindrance anymore. Same for the "western" deer - they remain on the western side of the former border.
  4. Me? Yes, I still get bulletholes. I have HitR installed.
  5. The lighting in the Strutter shot is really fine, elephant - so nice to see you airborne after all.
  6. One last hint, in case you missed this post - here are my graphic setup details. Check all these and perhaps try them identically, Wodin. And maybe they help you too, elephant? http://combatace.com/topic/60374-an-easy-pictorial-guide-graphics-setup/page__view__findpost__p__452080
  7. Well, I also don't see any big difference between "normal res" and "high res". Strange is, that you have a different card altogether, than elephant has. I have no idea, what it can be. I would probably try different setting in my ATI Catalyst Control. Different AA and Adaptive AA etc. Sorry, I'm helpless.
  8. Seems you're so "high-end", that your "low res" is other people's "normal res"? Now you only need to decide - will you stay with it?
  9. Any army does award medals to boost morale, I suppose? I only know about the SANKE cards. The aces got photographed by professionals, and cards were printed after those pics, showing the person with name and rank. Maybe possible that such men as Boelcke or von Richthofen had "publicity events" - I guess JFM would know.
  10. Hey, I know, von Paulus, I know. That's probably the German inheritance from the last century. It shouldn't shadow your mind. In fact it shouldn't even shadow mine - I wasn't born so early to live as a Nazi, and I was not living in the DDR; my dad was just a radio operator on board of an iron ore freight ship, which travelled from Kiruna, Norway, to Germany and back; he never killed anyone - but it does put shadows on my mind anyway. Those who have done those unthinkable deeds were my people, somehow. They made me feel like a stranger in my own land, in a way. Not sure if anyone can understand that - you lucky ones had your parents and grand parents outside of all that. And I will surely watch "Das Leben der Anderen" some day - I heard it was good. I have even seen excerpts - couldn't get any closer yet. But hey, chins up - I'll put some music on and will enjoy my freedom of choice!
  11. PS: ...and here is another table with Orders from various nations of that time.
  12. Not yet - I hate oppression and arbitraryness. German Gestapo and StaSi - to see that in detail makes me sick! Couldn't even watch "Inglorious Basterds". I know too much about that already, and I feel so helpless - I have an idea about how far you can drive people with using terror and fear. My humour absolutely fails there - like a stalling aircraft - sorry.
  13. Pursuing Goals

Anyone seen that weird film "Men who are staring at goats" with George Loony - ahh - Clooney? Was quite funny to watch! About a special force that is supposed to operate with sheer willpower. Especially funny is scene, where the Captain (or Colonel?) shouts to the sergeant in the next room: "Sergeant? I will leave this room now! And I will NOT use the door!" Then he stands up, concentrates, and starts a full run, until he slams against the wall. The he is sitting half "collision-drunk" on the floor and says "Damn! ..."
  14. I'll be prepared for that! (I always wanted to use this "Smiley" - now is the right moment):
  15. No - I have also tried HiRes and switched back down. You have the same card and settings like me - so it should work. Only difference: I use "Box" instead of "narrow tent". Have you ever tried to set to "Low Res", fly once, and then switch back to "Normal Res" ? I have set my sliders to: Aircraft 5 terrain 3 Scenery 2 Effects 5 Clouds 5
  16. What graphic cards do you use, Wodin and elephant? And how did you set them (AA and all that stuff)?
  17. So you don't even see these?
  18. German early rocket technology! But yes, this picture well shoes the bulletholes you should get.
  19. For You And I

They were quite famous here in Germany, and they also toured America. But you're right, they never made it to the fame of Pink Floyd or Genesis.
  20. From what I've read, the bullet holes were rather unspectacular in those days - small. They used no explosive ammo. Here is good old Ernst Udet in his Albatros after having some huge portion of luck. Seems they had put some white cardboard or paper into the holes to mark them. Not very spectacular looking, is it? But he could have got killed that day....
  21. Made Ace today

May the Force be with you!
  22. Made Ace today

Oh, great that you still knew the link to that, Creaghorn - I hadn't really seen it then. Thank you! Man, that is sure looking fine!!!
  23. I want to get this film

The Great War sure was an incredibly great waste of young men before their time should have come. Like the return of the German pilots for example, when the Soldatenrat had taken over power - they had fought for Germany in the Great War, and now, at their return, their shoulder pieces got ripped off, many where beaten and insulted, some even were killed. War offers so many kinds of tragedy.
  24. See through my "Screenshots" - there should be some pics showing bulletholes. But there is no minor damage like very small pieces of fabric ripped off. There are bulletholes, then there are larger chunks ripped off and wingtips torn away, and the big damages show whole wings coming off. In the "Screenshots" you should see, if there is any damage you can't get.
