  1. Lowest System Specs

Nice to see you, tranquillo! But hey - how many sliders does your OFF have???? I want my money back! Are you sure the clouds worsen it? I rather made the experience, that I can run "Clouds" on 5. "Scenery Detail" seems to "eat most.
  2. Great to hear, Lou! Didn't want to appear pushing - just wanted to make clear that I loved your last one.
  3. A double Dimple! No, seriously - my card doesn't do Direct X 11, as far as I know, so I have no idea. What issues do you have?
  4. Lowest System Specs

Ah, now I think I understand. You can have "Terrain detail" higher - "Scenery Detail" eats most performance. I would assume your specs being medium range, compared to all OFF users.
  5. Looks to me like the "detonator delay adjustment top" of a granade or shell or bomb (sorry, I don't know the right words in English). THIS REMINDS ME OF: WOULDN'T IT BE A GOOD TIME TO START YOUR NEXT WW1 QUIZ SOON?
  6. Lowest System Specs

With your system - why don't you run all sliders on 5 (maybe except "Scenery detail", which might be on 4 or 3) ???
  7. Lowest System Specs

There I have one question: would the performance benefit from OS and simulation being on different hard drives?
  8. Not sure, if this was posted before. It is a strange site, cause I can't get to the main index. That's why I post here both links I could get to work. If anyone finds a way into the site, let me know how. http://www.greatwardifferent.com/Great_War/Air_War/Lafayette_01.htm http://www.greatwardifferent.com/Great_War/Air_War/Lafayette_02.htm
  9. This field near the railwaystation Böblingen seems to have been built around 1914, for the training of German military aviators. Unfortunately, there seems to be no English version. But the photos alone are worth it! Enjoy! http://flughafenbb.wordpress.com/militarflughafen/

Thanks, Jarhead. I don't know how to "level" the fraps, but two notes: - your monitor is a 16 : 9, so you should make sure your "Workshops" setting at the left is on 16:10 (not 4:3); - your field of view might look more realistic with either 27:15; or with 28:16 (according to your widescreen monitor) (If you change the values, make sure you click on "Set FOV" after that, so the new values will get saved.)
  11. UncleAl, "falsehood" is NOT a word that comes to mind when I think about you. Grumbler, yes. Coarse, maybe. Poltergeist, why not. But falsehood - never. You seem to always speak right from your heart, which can't speak in polite tongues. Quite a Tasmanian Devil.
  12. Just added a fictional new skin of mine in the "Downloads" section. It is a Jasta 18 skin with their late colour sheme. Under Berthold their nose section was red, and the rest of the fuselage was blue. When August Raben took over the leadership, the changed for Vermillion & White. Most or all aircraft showed a (mostly black) raven, plus individual emblems. This skinning of mine would not have happened without OBD's incredible fund of more than 3.400 skins, from which I always use many parts for my work. I want to make a deep bow with a big respect for your work, you guys! Enjoy!
  13. Can you upload OFF onto Steam?

Didn't someone create a little proggy, which saves your pilot data? Herr Prop-Wasche, perhaps?
  14. Hey, I had actually overlooked that, von Baur; thanks! "Das Propellerblatt" is a German magazine made by enthusiasts about the aviation from 1900 - 1920. I clicked on "Kontakt" and saw the members - and I recognise Michael Schmeelke, the man who had compiled the great booklet "Das Kriegstagebuch der Jasta 12", after finding and working with one of the Jasta's members, Viktor Schobinger.
  15. If you understood the calculation, which I hope was explained well enough, you should perhaps try for yourself some "closer" FOV as well as more remote ones. Both have their Pros and cons, and you may write some lines regarding both possible settings.
  16. Thanks a lot, British_Eh. You may want to check your PMs - I have made some changes to provide you with a Jasta 2 skin, in aknowledgement of all your good forum contributions. Have fun!
  17. Ditto to the last part! And as for our "UncCarp" - you know what that "Smiley" means that you used - flogging a dead horse.
  18. Thanks, Duke! Maybe I sometimes "stumble" over such things, cause I often use German search words and so may find other sites than English searchers.
  19. The website looks like being supported by Daimler, somehow - at least with pictures. The Daimler factory at Sindelfingen would probably not exist today, had they not built their early training field there. In the years 1914 and 1915, there was a growing request made by the military, for aviators. The big German companies built such learning & training fields. The AEG had one in Döberitz, and I wouldn't be asthonished to read, that Siemens also had their own field. Kurt Jentsch describes that early learning phase he went through in 1915. He was at the airfield Döberitz. A good read, by the way. In Berlin-Staaken huge halls were constructed for building Luftschiffe ("Zeppelins"). When it became obvious, that the enemy built better fighters, able to bring the "Zeppelins" down, the same company built the gigantic Staaken Großflugzeuge. After the war, the halls were used by Fritz Lang for his film "Metropolis". See here: http://geierwally.info/Staaken/2.html
  20. The reflector clip must have been ripped off and away by then, I suppose ? About the view problems in some kites, and FOV: - I recommend to set the right FOV for your monitor. - If you fly a kite, where you should sit a little closer to the windscreen to get a better forward view, just choose a smaller FOV, or zoom in one notch in flight. - The third and most important point may be: fly according to the abilities and facts of your crate. If your aircraft provides you with a less good overall view, you cannot dive into and wallow in furballs. You will need to remain out of such situations, make attacks only after firstly gaining overview, and then step out of the whole mess again, to gain overview. A SPAD is not at all like a Camel.
  21. OBD / "OFF" made my day today - my second sortie, this time with my Jasta 2 pilot, was a great late morning joyride. Leutnant Max Ritter von Müller led the flight, and the darker brown craft in the center of the bunch is that of a promising young pilot, Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen. First we clashed with some silvergrey Nupes, which we literally wiped out. It was pretty dangerous to fly within such a furball, and after getting one Frenchman down, I prefered to climb out of it. Later, when everybody had left me to make their landing approach and I had just touched down, I saw Flak in the northwest of our field. I started my engine again and somehow managed to get the Albatros turned round (I was close to my tent already, and had to maneuver carefully). I found a flight of 5 green Nieuport with a capital "A" on their backs, running north-west towards Bertangles airfield. The rearmost guy suddenly turned and took on a fight he couldn't win. No one else helped him, and I felt almost sorry for him. With his Le Prieur rockets, he didn't have the full agility, and I had very much of it, cause my tank was less than half filled. No wonder I shot him down after a short turn fight. When I made my second landing, I saw one of our craft lying wrecked before the runway. This was a very similar ending as my previous sortie, and I feel so happy with OFF's offers of today! Great job, OBD!
  22. Yeah, I'm thinking of getting that card - thank you guys!
  23. New to Hat in the Ring

Madam was a bit annoyed, when her advice about aircraft she had flown was not welcomed enough. Yeah, I miss her too, UncleAl - I though female pilots should be tough enough to deal with such drawbacks.
  24. Some missions are different and special - like my last sortie with Jasta 19. Our airfield defense was without any enemy contact, and we had already returned to St.-Remy-le-Petit, when I sighted the 4 R.E.8 crossing over our field higher. Since my wingmen had already left me for their usual landing proceedure, I followed the R.E.8 alone SW to the Argonne, and shot two of them down. After that, I returned to my field. I could hardly wait to see, if the wings had managed to do the landing okay. Approaching our field, I saw two columns of smoke. Then I spotted one Albatros on a meadow, near our runway. Lt. von Kaisenberg - his D.V was shot up; the right wingtip were missing. I first thought, it was a landing accident, until I saw the Nieuport turning in to attack me! My craft got hit, but he also had to take some of my rounds. I had to put my Albatros down hard and broke the landing gear, while the Frenchman prefered to run for home. OFF can still surprise me again and again!
  25. Also quite good at diving (in OFF) are the Halberstadt, and the Albatros D.I / D.II, which did not have that fragile lower wing design. The Fokker Dr.1 will dive without structural problems, too, but due to it's drag of three wings, not very fast. The Fokker D.VII should be diving good, I suppose - I never flew it much yet.
