Thanks, Hasse Wind. In that case, "Hat in the Ring" was more than just an add-on in my oppinion. "Personal skin" is a choice I often love to use, when I want to make screenshots. "Wind" is a major step forward to more realsim - especially if you must land light aircraft in a crosswind. And the choice of "Enemy Aggressiveness" was giving us back the aggressive enemy flights. The AI before HitR was flying excellently defensive, but you could not really get at them at all sometimes. So summed up: an add-on which changed the whole sim to something greater again. And I cannot understand, how anyone should find it too costly in any way. The only reason to stay with the original BHaH would be, that you liked the AI behaviour more. And that can be ticked "on" in HitR again. You could even get a mix of both with the "Historical" setting - less aggressive in the early days, and more aggressive further on in the war.

At last I have the money to finally build my dream machine
Olham replied to jamieandnici's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Okay, now you guys almost killed my keyboard! It's fortunately a good one from Mickeysoft (yes, they CAN build good things too) with a water- and coffee-proof inlay protecting the contacts. Careful with Valium, guys - no joke. Any Benzodiazepan tranquilizers build up in your system, because they don't fully decay in 24 hours. If you take them for longer, the result maybe negative. You can get panic attacks. Honestly - no joke. Pilsner Urquell is a very good and much more biological choice (if you like a slightly bitter touch). -
Graphic Card Solutions - Crossfire or one top Card?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Fundamental knowledge and advice like always, Parky; you cleared several aspects at once; thank you very much. -
P4 will almost certainly be a new standalone version of "Over Flanders Fields" - no one ever spoke of an add-on. And as far as I believe to have been able to read between the lines, some good portion of software/programming will get added. But please don't think I had "special connections" or a spy over at OBD. I read it between the lines, as I said - and others may read something else there. As for the value of the HitR add-on - apart from getting the new aircraft, I believe to have noticed some more improvements in AI behaviour. I'm not sure anymore, if we had the choices "Fuel Management/Personal Skin", "Wind: ON/Off" and "Enemy AI: Less aggressive/more aggressive/historical" before HitR.

Now, that's a good one, Lou - where did you get this Smiley ?

The only things I always still expect to find in a SPAD XIII cockpit, behind a panel of rosewood perhaps, would be a box of cigars incl. lighter, and an onboard bar. Which would make it a most comfortable way of going down. Ah, the French and their style...you must love them!

Vermillion & White Fokker Triplane Skin - Jasta 18
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yeah - looking shark-sharp when going down, is a German speciality. This one has it's time of camo - when the poppies blow... -
Indeed - more than the Albatros, the SPAD and the Scout Experimental are real good energy fighters. On the British side, my choice would be Triplane firstly (but then they were not given to many squads), or the S.E.5a.

Vermillion & White Fokker Triplane Skin - Jasta 18
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You must really wonder about the courage of some Jasta to expose themselves so obviously with such Anti-Camouflage. Colours nature would choose for blossoms to attract the bees. -
The SPAD is a fighter you cannot fly like the hound remaining at he heels of your prey. It is incredibly strong, which provides you with a great speed advantage and a climb. So you should never remain in an attack too long - when your prey begins to make very agile evasive maneuvres - let off of him and climb out of the mess to regain overview. Overview and "getting clear from the mess" are the two important points to survive in a SPAD. This means, to avoid target-fixation by all means. If you couldn't shoot down craft A, shoot down craft C instead. Pick the target that looks most perfectly lined up with you, attack, and pull up and away again. Although I feel the same about the SPAD's vision, I like it a lot. The SPAD XIII would be my favourite French craft, cause it has all you need to survive: excellent speed and climb, and two guns. You'll get used to it's vision, the better you get used to flying with TrackIR.

Vermillion & White Fokker Triplane Skin - Jasta 18
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, don't worry too much, olde chap - by the time you can fly a Snipe, I may be flying a Siemens-Schuckert D.III. So you would never see neither the Raven nor the Ace of Spades sign - you would only see my muzzle flash - if you dared to look behind you. Mmuahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!! -
I have started a new Campaign with Jasta 18, early May 1918, cause I wanted to fly my reworked skin with a better Vermillion Red, wanted to fly an Albatros D Va, and wanted to meet Camels. That last wish got fullfilled by RNAS Camels, and I must say, I can only bow with the deepest respect for those German pilots fighting the RNAS in Flanders. The chances to survive the war are very slim!

A Challenge - even for "advanced Pilots"
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I wonder if I'll make it to the Fokker Dr.1 Triplane - with that craft, the Camels wouldn't be superior anymore. (But they'd still outnumber us...) -
In the Task Manager, one can change the priotrity for each running program. I have sometimes set my "Catalyst Monitoring" to "higher than normal", "OFF Manager" to "high", and "TrackIR" to "higher than normal" - hoping this would use more system power for those tasks. I know that there are free game booster programs, but my "computer advisor friend" does not think much of them, and I have a problem installing a free software which was made in China (call me timid). Some of you guys here have more knowledge of computers - what do you think about increasing the priority values for all parts you need for flying OFF ?

Good old "Phantom" - some find her ugly, but I like that craft. On the ILA 2005 in Berlin, the Sukhoi Flanker performed the "Cobra/Z Maneuver" and the Eurofighter pilot let his craft fall uncontrolled from the sky, until he suddenly powered up the engines and rushed off - all of which the Phantom could not do. But the two guys did what the old lady COULD do - they came in flat, and then they zoomed up in a very steep angle on her two engine flames with afterburners on. A roaring thunder - like a goodbye show of an old 50s design, that has served long and successfully.

Fokker Dr. 1 from Jasta 18 - the "Raben Staffel"
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
File Name: Fokker Dr. 1 from Jasta 18 - the "Raben Staffel" File Submitter: Olham File Submitted: 14 January 2011 File Category: Aircraft Skins This is my latest fictional skin for a Fokker Dr. 1 from Jasta 18, also called "Staffel Raben" or "Raben-Staffel". Their fighters had first been red-nosed, with a blue fuselage. Under Staffelführer August Raben the colours got changed. The nose section and the upper wing surfaces were Vermillion red, the rest was white. All pilots used a Raven symbol, some had additional own emblems. The Raven symbol was mostly black - but as I said; this is an individual and fictional skin. Enjoy it! This skin could not have been done without the great fund of more than 3.400 skins, OBD's skinners made for us. A big "THANK YOU" and a deep bow for so much dedication and love put into all that! Well, I survived this first mission and shot at least one Camel down. But all wingmen had to put their kites down due to damage, and I was asthonished to get a claim form after all. But if it continues this way, I can only try to survive, until 14 June, when Jasta 18 go down south all the way to Möntingen. There I would mostly encounter SPAD XIII, I suppose - a fighter we can handle much better. -

Maybe you should open a "WW1 Reader's Library", where you serve drinks, and with a room for smokers. Books can't get taken away, but you store for everyone, what he last read, and what page he was on? Might be a nice community after short time? -

The guy at the gun must be OvS; the guy standing on the left looks a teaser - could be Pol then? Winder in the cockpit - and the guy standing at the right looks like a "Shredder" to me.
