You think, flying OFF with TrackIR makes you dizzy?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I hope you have seen what the Great White did with that cage in "Jaws"? -
I will repeat it again: the difference to other games is - "Over Flanders Fields" is NOT a game. It is so much more, and above all other things, it is a deep bow of respect for all the young fellers who flew these crates in real life. Cause, if you jump into it with that "winning the war single-handedly" mentality - it will teach you just that: respect.

CaptSopwith, I wasn't the first to find that site - I only "re-found" it later. First it was shown here by Hasse Wind or RAF_Louvert - not sure. When I couldn't find the cathedral in Ypres, Lens, Douai, Arras, Cambrai, St. Quentin and Charleroi, I had the idea: I googled for "cathedral ground plan". As the cathedral we searched had very many support columns - more than any other cathedral I ever saw - this brought me to Laon. Bingo!

Dokken1212 and elephant - I wish for you, that Pol is right there: maybe someone didn't know what they were talking/writing about, while the product is already underway.

I thought the third from the left looks like Voss. Did I miss the date - was it shown in the film?
-
(Edited:) ...I was beginning to miss your humour here, old chap! But now you're there - good to see you!

Another doughboy identified and returned to his family

Hastily burried in the dirt - what a fate. And almost a small miracle, that he was found again. Rest in peace, boy! -
Need a quick hand to check something

I think it is already known - someone had a similar post sometime ago. But if you want to mail a problem: I'll send you the mail adress per PM. -
If they looked like those in this picture... But even here, in the same Jasta (11 ?*) they are wearing different ones. *(I can identify MvR at the left, and maybe Werner Voss)

Got 2 error messages, tried to proceed despite that, but didn't get onto the field. Doesn't work for me either, Mike. -
Don't know what you get there, old boy, but in the German Ebay page, it says clearly "1. Weltkrieg", which means WW1.

Good it was only a remote-controlled test crash. -
It thought those were your reasons to do it this way. Now I know why it is so exceptional.

That would be wonderful!

If you call it understatement, when you paint a kite either darkgreen or darkbrown - yes, you have!

Yeah, and it happens thousands of times during one flight! I wonder what they are made of? -
Worth sharing again: "Over the Front" (Australian War Memorial) BW original footage, showing Bristol Fighters, balloon shot down, while observer jumps, R.E.8 at start, Fokker D VII and Dr.1, S.E.5a, Sopwith Camel performing a trick to pretend it's going down, a fighter crashing, the attachment of bombs, a Gotha starting, Flak & Archie, British and German pilots, etc.

Hihi, a wonderful story! My "computer-crack" friend had found a way to gain more memory from "High mem sys" or something. With that addition, I could fly "Aces over Europe". But it often messed up the working with my plotter (I was a signwrite then), and the company guy who had set up my computer for work, always found out. "Your computer crack has been at it again, hasn't he? You must decide, if you wanna work or play!" Well, I wanted to fly, and had to work. Unbelieveable, that is we had so little space and memory back then.

I often though, they could perhaps make a deal with Mickeysoft - throw the software of CFS3 onto the OFF disc, have the world wide advertising and distribution of Mr. Gates and so on. Even if they'd only get a smaller amount per sold copy - they should sell far more. But then, maybe it's uncomfortable to work with such giants?

Yeah, it bring it so close to today, doesn't it? If you want to stroll through pictures of Flanders places (and receive more shivers); here is a website you may have missed. Click on the places' names at the left - and enjoy the shivers. http://www.flanderland.de/locations-orte/caterpillar-hill-59-%28zillebeke%29/

Shredward, I have found it. It is the Cathedral of Laon. I have made a screenshot from the film, and one from Google maps. Here is the result:

Imagine this song being played: "It's a wonderful world" - congrats, gramps! Now you'll have a much better excuse for bad shooting.

I looked at the cathedrals of Ypres, Cambrai, Amiens and Reims - none of them seem as big as the one in the film.
