Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wasn't meant too serious, Lou - after all, she is somehow part of his story; even if she is far away. -
WWI Aviation Books Now Available in OFF Downloads
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You have compiled quite a lot of intersting stuff there, Lou! I saw Boelcke's: "An Aviator's Field Book" among them, which I will study. Also stuff about the American air service. Thanks a lot! (The wall of books picture was a nice idea!) -

Paul Blum's Story: A BHaH Pilot's Saga
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Supplied with a big chunk of "Böhmische Walnusstorte"* from "Coppenrath & Wiese"**, and a good mug of hot coffee, I sat down to read the next adventure of Paul Blum. I had equipped myself like that, because I expected a bitterly cold wind around my nose in the read of another big fight. Instead, I find the worries of that cutie, like a handwritten torture for our poor Ritter Paul. Women! She is surely a good and nice young woman, full of desire for, and worries about our Paul, and that is only natural. But let's have some action again soon, eyh, Lou? *a tarte with apples, cinnamon and candied walnuts ** a Munich confectionery -
Didn't know that we can already "travel" via Google Streetview. You can just type in a city or even a complete address in Google Maps; then you get the map. Left of the map is the slider for zooming in and out. Above the slider is a yellow mannekin - pull that man onto a street in your map. Now wait a little - and you will get the street view. (As far as the streets are photographed already). You can turn left or right with the darts in the circle in the left upper corner, and also look up and down. When you place your mouse cursor somewhere in front of you in the street and click, you will get there. That way I have just made a ride from the Diamond Head in the south-east of Oahu, Hawaii, to the lodge of Robin Masters, were Higgins and Magnum "lived".

Virtual Travelling with Google Streetview

I think he was, cause another "Robin Masters" was never seen. But I don't know for sure. -
= RoFl

Get it under any circumstances - it will put you really into the cockpit. Best spent money after OFF!

Higgins was - besides Magnum - my favourite character. A funny British officer and gentleman. -

No, didn't know. I'll have to check that again; thanks, Bullet. -
Personalised Skins for non-Skinners by Hobby-Skinners
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Just had this idea: many OFF pilots would probably like to have a personalised skin, but have no idea how to make one. Now I thought, us hobby skinners could perhaps offer them this: everyone, who wants a personalised skin, makes a request to us here. This should not go as far as painting the whole craft differently. No, we would keep a basic skin of the squadron/Jasta/Escadrille he wants to fly in; and add an emblem of his choice, and maybe stripes or fuselage bands. The emblem has to be sent by the user, in Jpeg or GIF form. We could share the work in that way, that some make French planes, others British, and others German ones? Or we may mix it all as well, and make an order list, saying who will be the next to do one. What do you other "hobby-skinners" think of this? -
CW3SF? Not CFS3WW1? What does it mean?
-
Well, what more can I say - it is a 50 x 50 pixel Jpeg you can use as your avatar. The Dreidecker pilot is Mikael Carlson in his replica.

Hey, that's well simulated then - top wing fabric coming off! And now I won't have to try it myself anymore. My American pilot has enough other problems; mainly, that the Germans are very experienced. I'm beginning to accept the crate - with your FM I am having less stalling, but it is still "available", so you seem to have hit the nail quite well. -
Welcome, swampey! The guys have answered everything, I think. If you want the really deep immersion, good campaigns, then "Over Flanders Fields" should be right for you. So many Squadrons, Escadrilles and Jasta to choose from - I don't "play" anything else, since I have it. Although "to play" is somehow wrong: OFF is not a game, I keep telling all newbies. (Although you will find plenty of possible settings in the "workshops" menue to make it easier for a start.) Oh, and if it was me - I couldn't wait for P4; I'd get it. I don't believe the devs have already an end of their works in sight for P4; so I don't think it would appear this year. (That's only just my personal feeling - I am not involved).

Dej, just in case you didn't know: you can delete older attachments to make space. Click on your name bar in the top right Forum corner, then on "My Settings", and then on the left on "Manage Attachments". You may get a several pages long list of all your attachments made, and can select them and delete those you don't need anymore. Me, I had to go so far meanwhile, that I even had to delete old screenshots from that thread.

Anyone ever completed the entire war?

There is also "Die roll on death" - something I didn't understand for a long time, because I didn't know, that the singular for those little gambling cubes is "Die" - I only knew plural "Dice". "Die roll on death" means, that a random decision is made, when your pilot crashes: will he live (in hospital for a while) or must he die. -

Perhaps you need to check, if it is saved as DDS (No Alpha), nbryant. -
A fine artwork, Dej! If you still have it in layers, you could try to exchange the two persona, so they would look into the picture, instead away from it?
-
No, don't ever do that, Widowmaker - yours is a trade mark like HEINZ Ketchup. I can still remember very well, how I first met you here. You were ranting about something, and a little later you added a more funny additional comment (back to humour), which ended with your "woof, woof!" And I thought: I like that Tommy! Ratatat, that is good to know, that this is possible! So I can improve mine a lot (it's a bit small, innit?) Edit: I have made two versions, and made them larger now - thanks, Ratatat - I didn't know it would work.

Don't do this, when you want your CO to like you!

This is for UncleAl, who I know loves to do such breaches against the service regulations. I thought, Cpt Rickenbacker would be proud of having such a daredevil in his squadron. Instead, I am now locked away with bred and water for three days. (Unfortunately, I rammed the right wing into a pylon - damn!) Tch - no sense of humour... grmbl! PS: this was made after changing the Z-Bias settings for the water, Lou - not sure if it changed; I think it did a bit? Maybe not?... -
New FM mod is in the works
Olham replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Then I'm sure I have the new version, HPW. I flew tight turns today, and dives of 30-40° without damage. The craft behaved better - had only one stall and spin in the beginning, but it recovered easier. The looping I'll do tomorrow - it's 01:12 h here. Godd night! -
DAvella - you must have stepped into the wrong mess with your problems. But once you're here, have a drink at the bar, and maybe we can show you around "Over Flanders Fields". Just in case you want some REALLY deep immersion? Cheers!

Hellshade, I'm not really with the Crumpets - I'm with the "Barbeque Boys", my name is Dennis Marlowe, and I like it here! One soon day, I will also fly my British alter ego, David Oldham, with 74 RAF in April 1918 - he'll fly the "Viper". Hihihi - yes, I need more of your temper, tranquillo - today I attacked a D.F.W. with my Nieuport 28, and twice I snatched from impatience and excitement. I'll work on that. -

Pilot never dies? Tch! No, I haven't heard of anyone here who did. The transfer of a pilot to another Jasta is possible; it's described here: http://combatace.com/topic/60645-im-new/page__view__findpost__p__454854
