How many OFF folks fly with rudder pedals?
Olham replied to Over50's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Man, the Three Stooges are something I missed - they were never translated into German TV I think! They're funny - must watch them all! Oh, and I also pick out the "quirky" ones mostly - you're not alone. -
How many OFF folks fly with rudder pedals?

Okay, okay, some thing are difficult for me to understand, cause they may be of American origin (nyuk, nyuk? Inuit?); others may be from books you read or films you watched - here, the benefits of "Wikipedia" come in helpful. So, for all you others, who may have wondered about Lou's funny sentences: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inigo_Montoya I had neither read the book, nor have I seen the movie - would you recommend it? It sounds pretty - ahm - well - strange? -

Can you lead me to that post - I'd like to know how "mostly dead" is to be set up. Although - I think I have it already... I still never tried the other outcomes, apart from "dead is dead" which I always used. I remember someone explained the variations and their effects, but can't find it again. -
Okay, thank you; added that.

Oh yeah - a freshly brewed Kenia volcano coffee and a piece of nut cake - the luxuries of those who only PLAY "dead is dead". -
What is a lever? I also have bought a TrackIR 4 hardware (and chose that above), but with TIR 5 software, like you. Works fine!

Also, I don't place my heels up on the pedals but rather rest them on the slide base extensions and fly while wearing thick cushy socks. Okay - so much for immersive realism. Mmuahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!! Thanks for the instructions, Lou! I'll save them and try pedals once more soon. -
Good to know, Lou, thanks for sharing! As I said, I never got hit again after flying zigzag, and don't find it too hard as it is.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation, Bletchley. Perhaps the value for the damage effect of the shell's explosion could be found and reduced a bit (if they are still WW2) ?

I'm still a "stick twister". I had done so since the earliest sims and am totally used to it. I have Saitek pedals, but couldn't get to grips with them at all. The reason for that maybe, that there are other functions like brakes, which lead to strange reactions in OFF. I had got advice about that, but never found the time to give it another try. I suppose I would have to learn aiming and shooting completely new, and that didn't seem worth it. If anybody here could tell me again, what I have to change to get rid of the brake commands, I will store it this time. And when I have those longer winter evenings, I may give it another try then. But TrackIR would be far higher for me than pedals. By the way: did you solve your problems with the reflection of the glasses, Over50? There must not be any light source or light reflection in front of you, which can reflect from the glasses towards the device.. -
Here Is Another Immersive Item You Can Create for OFF

Thanks a lot, Lou! Good you reminded me - I forgot I have to clear space in the "Messages" store from time to time. -

Yes, that would be fine. It will transpose my little "cockpit corner" back to 1917. -
Wow! This sim can always surprise me again!

Even if the Flak puffs are generated/spawned, they must not appear randomly. I have been hit twice very early on in P3, after flying straight for a while. Now I zigzag and have never been shot down by Flak again. So to me it seems that the spawns (if they are spawned) are getting placed forward of your direction, with great incorrectness, but concentrating there, where you will fly (when you fly on straight). Of course zigzagging doesn't automatically mean you are safe - one of the rather misplaced shots might still hit you. But to me it did not happen yet.

Guys, the way you fly, it might be NECESSARY to cheat the devil more than once! Mmuahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!

Flying only scouts, and not crossing the lines as often as you have to, I still have missions like "Airfield attacks", when I have to go right into it. Flak is sometimes very dense, when there are two airfields close together. All I can do is to zigzag; I never fly longer than about 10 - 15 seconds in the same direction. And it seems to work. I can't remember the last time I was hit by Flak.

What a fine choice of music, Sir, to accompany the ever-coming-up-again-question: will I make the landing as well as the flying, or will my comrades have reason to burst into laughter and tears?

Von Oben: I try to keep the speed up at about 125 km/h and as you say bring the aircraft to level short before touchdown. But if the plane also is badly damaged it’s harder to control. I’ll practice in QC! The plane can lose lift through damage. When the engine dies, you can push the nose a bit more to keep speed. But I noticed, that I simply lose lift, when parts of fabric are ripped away - and then, nothing really helps very much.

Congratulations, Winston - better late than never! I suppose you know you earned it, and if it cannot wipe out the dark moments of your memories really, it may at least shine it's light on you. They delayed it - but they haven't forgotten. Here's a more official form I just found; you should receive something like this in the near future:
