  1. Just found this certification about a wounded pilot in combat; and Nieuport 17 with spinners. Great website, socrate !
  2. Oh, what a fine big fund of information about the French Escadrilles, socrate! I had known this site, but had forgotten to save the address - now I have it back. Thanks a lot!! I hope, that you can enlist as a French pilot despite the file? You should be able to do so.
  3. A Barnburner

Your mission, although it surely was great fun for you, shows how the AI needs to get programmed even more intelligent. (Though I don't know how it could be done - I stand in awe for the programming of this already!) I had another such successfull mission with my Albatros D.III; a scramble. We got jumped by many SPAD VII, with at least 4 French aces in the Escadrille. And in the end, when I had run out of ammo, only three or four SPAD were left. I had shot down 5 of them. Now, this is totally unrealistic, that a Staffel - getting surprise-attacked by such strong energy fighters, flown by aces - would shoot most of them down. Not to speak of my 5 kills. Impossible. Same with your Goering. The man - whatever we may feel about him - survived the war. He must have been quite a good fighter pilot. So that's my strongest wish for P4 (besides of getting a Roland): that the AI can be made even more intelligent. And again: that is said with the deepest admiration for what has already been achieved! PS: sorry for my "trampling through" your joy, SirMike. And to be honest - I also still cheer at such events.
  4. OT Aimed at the Brits

Well, at least the carp must be dead already, which makes it look silly, that the guy is still in the water. A living carp, I bet, wouldn't sit in his arms like a tired baby - he would just make a strong move and escape. Widowmaker is the man to ask.
  5. They often crash, but sometimes they get a fine landing done - I've seen it. With Halberstadt, and also with Eindeckers.
  6. Yeah, I think from all my "bigmouthing" here, he assumes I was a very good fighter pilot. Personally, I'd much prefer to peel the spuds that day. But orders are orders! I understand, that "to lean" means to make the mixture less fat (reduce oil) - which should make the engine hotter. Is that really a method used to save petrol? The worst horror-death I can imagine would be to drown. No idea why - to burn can't be any nicer. So to fly such a distance over the sea, where I may even have to fight - horror! You will give me nightmares, Lou!
  7. Wow - great job, nbryant! Welcome to the League of Skinners! Possibly an Irish pilot - with this typical green? Or it's an early "Brunswick racing green"? Whatever - well done. You even did the same as I just have done with my little Nieuport: making new wooden struts. You will see; after some more skins, you'll develop more and more ideas for this and that.
  8. Maybe you rotary fans knew this since long time, but an Albatros-man discovered only now: there are two Belgian skins for the N11 in OFF (Olieslagers and Thierry). I browsed a little, and found another beautiful skin: that of French pilot Turenne. I can only recommend to everyone: get the free download program "Irfanview", and browse through this wonderful fund of skins! Beautiful works, Rabu!
  9. My god, what have I asked for!... You mentioned to lean the mixture so I can make the whole tour without dropping into the sea. Well, I never use "mixture controll" - how do I lean the mixture right, what key, and to what amount? I won't be able to fly it before sunday; so take your time, Lou - and thank you for the job!
  10. A nice Albatros D.V ??? Please report, when it's ready (or even half-ready). So they fly with an electro motor? Sounds like something to try (I had a real petrol engine once, but it was tricky to get it running, made lots of - wrong - noise, and dirt).
  11. OT Aimed at the Brits

Rather aimed at the "Daily Mail". We have the "Bild-Zeitung", short "BILD" - they are our typical boulevard press. When they slam you on the front page and say you are a monster, you ARE a monster. Or you'll become one, at least.
  12. Okay, OKAY!! Tank is filled, guns are loaded!!
  13. Hm - they must be the D.I and the D.III, from the looks. I wonder: are the British less aggressive people, when they call a fighter "Snipe" instead of "Hawk" ?
  14. Wow, Mr.Lucky - that's a nice model! When I see a good looking RC model, I always wonder, how people dare to fly them. A Nupe must be quite tricky to operate?
  15. Coming in late

    From the album "Screen paintings"

  16. Great! I hope to see some screenshots of you soon.
  17. My god - a Nieuport 11 must be the opposite of an Albatros!!! Flying it, I feel like an autumn leaf in the storm, getting tossed about! And then comes this mad Roland C.II, which must be the German version of a Brisfit, and shoots my kite to oblivion in a second! This craft is fragile as a butterfly! I admire the pilots who dared to fight in this!!!
  18. Okay, you're on the map now. Here is the link: http://combatace.com/topic/44370-off-forum-pilots-maps/page__view__findpost__p__315225
  19. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update September 16, 2010; 20:15 h Berlin summertime (= GMT + 2) socrate, France, added. Now Aristoteles in northern Spain has a colleague near! All the maps are in post 1 of this thread
  20. socrate, I have received your message, thank you. But better use the PM (Private Message), if you want to write someone a personal note. A PM is sent by clicking on the name of the recipiant; then you get a menue - click "Send me a message". If you receive a PM, there will be a little number by your picture in the Forum top right corner. Click on the number to get to the message. I hope very much, that you will get your sim installed correctly - OFF is the best that happened to me in the last 7 years. If you have questions or problems, just ask - the guys here are very friendly (except perhaps uncleal, who often tries his best to not appear friendly, but we all know he is a good soul, and he helps a lot here).
  21. claims bummer

Some have a VERY good guardian angel...
  22. claims bummer

HPW: ...my last wingmate got shot down and crashed. I was still presented with a claim form. Maybe he survived the crash? Yes, they often get all shot down, but the OFF Manager rolls dice about their fate. Mostly they survive.
  23. Welcome to OFF Forum, socrate! Perhaps you overlooked tranquillo's link for you to check install proceedure? Here it is again: http://www.overfland...on_and_settings Please install exactly after this (make a complete de-install first). May I ask you to send me a PM with your town and country (Greece?) ? I will add you to our OFF Pilots Maps then - thanks!
