Doesn’t the AI obey rejoin commands after the goals completed message? No. They will now proceed to their 2-miles away turning point, turn round and approach the field. If your airfield has no trees near the edge where you come in, then you should take the time and fly with them at least once. I have made landings with Halberstadts, which went perfectly fine! But it can also happen, that they crash into trees, or into each other on the runway. If it works well, it is a heartwarming sight!

Two Belgian Nupes in OFF - didn't know that

It's phantastic - this sim can still surprise me. I will take more time to see through the skins. They are a gold mine. -

I know, I know, Widowmaker, and they are great works. But that wasn't my point; I was surprised - and maybe you are too - that there were Belgian skins in there already - all the time; but they were hidden for the campaign menue by leaving out the additional "N" in the name. I find this encouraging, cause it was already planned in 2006 to add the Belgians. We may get them next time? SirMike, what and where is the "custom select menue"??? It would be possible to replace all skins from one Escadrille by Belgian ones, but what about the Log and Campaign menue? I think, the missing Escadrille 1 and 10 will be added one day, and they seem to have been formed by French AND Belgian pilots, if I remember right. Until then, I will fly my single Belgian N11 in Escadrille 26, Koksijde - close enough for me. -
Since our dev team decided not to give away any information on what they might be developing for P4 (which is fully understandable and okay after the spying out and copying of their ideas by others), I thought I'd bring some action into our forum, and if only as a poll of wishful thinking. I know we had similar polls, but what the heck. You can only click one vote in each question, because otherwise, some of us would click everything, and I wanted to see the biases of each section. For the last question I made an exception, cause it contains so many different ideas and choices. But to get some biases, please would you be so kind to only click your favourite five? Thank you all.

Just thought of another thing that could perhaps be changed for P4 - maybe it was already asked: could the ammunition be made "historical" - in other words: tracers no earlier than they appeared?

Coming Soon To An OFF Download Section Near You
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This will be only my second mission I ever downloaded and used, Lou, so I'm sorry for being a blockhead there. The other download was long ago, and I forget such things very soon - I'm no computer freak. But I just saw, that you have written a detailed instruction. One question: must I also install "Gotha pylons..." (whatever that is)? And is it possible, to add aircraft and other files via "Generic Mod Enabler" ? -

I found neither the Handley Page nor the Gotha in the "aircraft models", Lou ? Edit/PS: found the Handley Page - it has a cryptic shortcut instead of a file name, that even people without great knowledge about WW1 aircraft like me would recognise. But where is the Gotha? -

So you really made a mission, Lou! Well, I didn't doubt it really, knowing you a little by now. If I get the two aircraft downloaded, where do I have to place them then? -

Yes, I know your Camel with the thistle on the side, Lou - good job! I have enlisted in Escadrille 26 with my Belgian Nupe, because it was operating from Koksijde by the sea. If anyone want s to use those OFF Belgian skins: you only have to add an "N" inbetween "Nieuport" and the "11", and you'll find them available. Of course, I have made my own Belgian skin. Not yet perfect, but I'll keep it for a while. I'll have to get used to it, Hasse Wind. Now I know why they called them "kites" - it's tossed about by the wind - incredible! As an Albatros pilot, ot is hard to take the little cutie serious. But it turns fine. I have got into some stall spins (don't yet know how to turn best), but it recovers easily. -
Two Belgian Nupes in OFF - didn't know that

Now this is getting interesting! I just checked: those skins are for Esc. 1 (Olieslagers) and Esc. 10 (Thieffry). Both Escadrilles do not yet exist in OFF. Now the Germans would say in Berlin slang: "Nachtigall, ick hör Dir trapsen!" (Nightingale, I hear you clumping!) - could it be, that our devs had already planned to give us Belgian fighters and pilots (so Rabu already made these skins), but then had so much else to do firstly, that they dropped the idea for P3 - but may come up with it in P4 ?!? -

Yes, Belgium, Netherlands and Poland are smaller countries, which just got trampled underfoot. If you want to check, Hasse Wind: the Belgian Nupes are not among the other N11 skins - their names are written different. The Belgians are written: off_Nieuport11_ace_t_Esc 1 1916_Olieslagers.dds The other, French Nupes are written: Off_NieuportN11_ace_t_Esc 48 1916_Armand Jean Galliot Joseph_de Turenne.dds I think, the first time ever N11 campaign I will fly, will be in a Belgian fighter. Their national colours are the same by the way as the German ones today: Black, Red and Gold -
I just found these numbers in a website about the Belgian Air Service - don't know if they are right: In 1918 the Germans tried for the last time to obtain decisive victory at the Western front before the American troops could be available in force. In the air before the arrival in mass of the US Air Service the balance was already in favour of the allies with the following figures in June 1918 : France: 3857 aircraft Commonwealth: 2630 aircraft USA : 180 aircraft Belgium 127 aircraft Total Entnente: 6794 aircraft Germany: 2551 aircraft Source: http://www.baha.be/Webpages/Navigator/Belgian_Aviation_History/ww_i/WW1.htm

Yes, it would be great, and rather easy to do, I suppose. Belgian Squadrons operated from northern Flanders. Here is a website I had posted before - it's about the Belgian Air Service in WW1. If you only see a blue screen, scroll down a bit. Quite informative. http://www.baha.be/Webpages/Navigator/Belgian_Aviation_History/ww_i/WW1.htm -
When you pass the last waypoint and get the message "all goals completed", the wingmen drive away for two miles, from where they then start their landing approach. But I think you knew this already. To what distance was your TAC set? If it was set on two miles, and their dive lead them deeper down than two miles away from you, you wouldn't see them. Or could it be, that you accidently hit "T" and switched to another target type, like "vehicles" ? Then you wouldn't see them.
-
Von Baur: ...got the dreaded 'Claim is erroneous' warning. I switched it to my primary wingman even though he was nowhere to be seen and not only did the game accept my claims but both are now among my confirmed kills. Go figure. Wingmen often get out of sight or crash land crippled crates, but are still alive (read the after-flight window, which would tell you, if someone was wounded or is dead, or missing in action). When you see them on the rooster after the fligh, they made it - and can witness your kills. Waldemar Kurtz: I did have hopes that my wingmen would be more aggressive. When you enlist a new pilot and browse through the squadrons or Jasta there, you see for each squad their morale. If you choose a high morale squad, the wingmen will be better - try it some day; it's a difference.

Gawd - the guys are really unmasking world politics in three minutes - wonderful! And frightening...

Wayfarer, after several huge "resettlement activities" in England I could join you with sqran. Gawd, it's crowded there already - 10 more members, and it'll burst. CaptSopwith - yeah, the community is growing steadily, and these are only those, who join the Forum.

Atrocities?!?!? I would defend my country for our kitchen! Hmmm - Kassler mit Kraut und Püree (mash)!!! Gegrillte Schweinshaxe!!!! Ooooohhh - now I'm getting hungry! And it's 00:17 h - I'm lost!
-
Yes, of course, Hasse Wind. And if the claims thing would be made a little more useable, it could be far more attractive. Names of wingmen/witnesses should be in there already, cause your witnesses would know, who they are. The player should only identify the planes himself, and make notes of markings, places and times. I remember, that Winder once asked for German claims from players. I dare to believe - or hope - that he is about to make an "intelligent claim process", which really recognises your details and compares them with the facts to a certain extent. Wouldn't that be phantastic?
-
Would be definitely better, Herr Prop Wasche, that's true. My tip for the time, until we get that: I have bought myself a red and black China notebook, in which I write down all my squadmate names with numbers in front.# For each sortie, I now only need to note the numbers of my wingmen. I use that notebook also for notes about the fights, the locations, times, enemy types and numbers, and markings.
-
You can avoid that by regarding your wingmen as more valuable than your victories. Bring them back alive with you - there is no greater success and joy! And besides all the joy - they will be your witnesses!

Graphical errors with ATI video card
Olham replied to vonOben's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Von Oben, your system specs are better than mine and should be sufficient. (See my screenshots). My graphics slider are: Aircraft: 5 Terrain: 3 Scenery: 2 (this one uses a lot of resources!) Effects: 5 Clouds: 5 My advice: cut down the "Scenery" slider and see, what you get then. My ATI Control Center settings are: - SMOOTHVISION HD AA: 8x (Filter: Box) - SMOOTHVISION HD Anisotropic Filtering: 8x - Catalyst AI: Advanced - Mipmap Detail Level: Quality - Wait for vertical refresh: Quality/Always On - Adaptive Anti-Aliasing: Quality - OpenGL Settings: Triple buffering (clicked on) -
Yes, the population numbers would have been better, but I don't know them. But you get the idea - it was impossible to win against so many enemies.
-
SirMike, the "terrain detail" slider is on "3" on my system; the one that needs CPU power is "scenery detail" - that I have only on "2". Clouds "don't eat much". Neither does the effects quality. (My settings are 5, 3, 2, 5, 5 - I am running a 2,83 HHz CPU).
