  1. Devs: possible little bug?

No 30 minutes later, Winder regrets...
  2. Flying with Jasta 17, Ghistelle, in June 1917, we ran into 3 flights of Sopwith Triplane today! Two of those attacked immediately; they were from RNAS-10, and I saw several aces. But it wasn't their day. Within short time, I saw three of them going down burning, while my flight still climbed to our 1. Kette. Gunther Schuster, Ernst Wendler, Julius Buckler and Alfred Trager fought marvellous above us! Then came my first chance. A Triplane with a red cowling came lower to attack my wingmen. I sat behind it and hit it terribly hard. It lost a wing and fell towards earth. (Labels told me, it was William Mel Alexander) Soon after that, I approached a second craft. The pilot was totally fixated on chasing Wendler, and I could get close behind. I shot his crate up so badly, that he spiralled down smoking. (This one was Raymond Collishaw). In the end, we had beaten off three flights of Tripes with about 18 planes altogether. I still had two of my 4 wingmen with me. But I went out of patrol after that long fight, and I had to put my bird down near a German army camp.
  3. Devs: possible little bug?

Oh, what great news for our King Crumpet! Let me be the first to congratulate you on this, Widowmaker! Now, what I would like to get, Winder, is a Roland fighter, so I could fly Jastas we didn't have so far. Remember? Roland!
  4. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update September 8, 2010; 16:52 h Berlin summertime (= GMT + 2) Stratos, Spain, added. All the maps are in post 1 of this thread
  5. 3 questions.

Stratos, firstly: Welcome at OFF Forum! As von Paulus said: you are our 4th Iberian pilot. Now to the view: Try the command: " Toggel scroll/snap view". Add an assignment and choose a key, that is easy to reach (preferably on the joystick). Now, with that command you should be able to toggle between the static "snap view", which is all the angles your HUD button does; and the "scroll view", which is a floating view which you can move with your HUD button (around and also up and down). For combat though, the "snap view" is better. PS: you are on the map now; see here: http://combatace.com/topic/44370-off-forum-pilots-maps/page__view__findpost__p__315225 Go to the last post also.
  6. # sigh # If Only

Oh my god - what did you drink last night, Lou?!?!? All this stuff about Snipes could possibly make the devs create one in the end - and if only to avoid furthermore poems and stuff recently posted.
  7. 3 questions.

    1) not sure if the E-key can also turn the engine off - I always use "M" to cut off magnetos (maybe not the regular way, I know) 2) Warping does NOT avoid combat. Warp will always stop, when enemies are near. 3) Yes, there is a glide view, which you can pan around with your view button. Forgot the key, cause I also use TrackIR (unbeatable allround view system!!!)Check the "Controls" this way: press "escape" ingame, then click "Controls" in the menue; click "View Controls" and find the one you need. PS: Stratos, are you in the OFF Pilots Maps? If not, please send me a PM with your town and country, and I'll put you in there.
  8. Sundays Shuttleworth Pageant

I wonder why they made it that way. Well, the pilot could press his forehead against the leather protection for aiming, and when he had a crash landing, it would protect him (a little bit) from the forward impact his head would make on the shield.
  9. I don't know, if we should believe it - but it is made well at least. And who knows: that was a time of depression. Maybe she did it for the money?
  10. # sigh # If Only

And Miss Jensen would say to Widowmaker: "Oh, Simon - is that a revolver in your pocket, or are you just so thrilled to see me?" PS: Lou, take care - don't give them a chance to nag about you wasting too much time on the OFF forum. I mean - seeing your "Paradise" photoshop work, one might think so.
  11. Hmmmm! Crumpets!

A breakfast I enjoy every now and then on Sunday: HEINZ Baked Beans, a fried egg with fried bacon slices, a golden brown toast with butter; and a mug of freshly brewed coffee. Paradise can be so simple!
  12. Searching YouTube for WW1 aircraft, I came across the name "Polovski" - or so I thought; it was really "Polski", but the soccer team attracted my attention now. Enjoy!
  13. Sundays Shuttleworth Pageant

Oh, you islanders - how I envy you for that collection, and the number of airshows every year! Wonderful pictures, Tonyo!
  14. Hmmmm! Crumpets!

Tch!!! Widowmaker, you Crumpet!!! I would have expected something like: Pretty good for your first attempt! Or: Hmmm - they look inviting! (But what can you expect from a Crumpet!) No cognac with the crumpets, Hasse Wind - only hot freshly brewed coffee; it was early in the morning. The British kitchen is rather under-rated; as well as the French is often overrated. You just need to find the right places. Everywhere.
  15. Yeah, this team would be able to make men watch the women's league.
  16. Hmmmm! Crumpets!

Now I've made them: "Olham's Home Baked Crumpets" And they were delicious! The pics show Version 1.0 (don't ask how the Beta version looked!). Next time I'll vary my recepy with some brown sugar and cinnamon added, and get me some raspberry jam.
  17. Hmmmm! Crumpets!

I'm making them right now - the Crumpets. I'll report.
  18. Worst 2 Winger landing

No, Carrick, the German accident was without a fire. Click on the picture in this news report: http://www.fuldaerzeitung.de/newsroom/360grad/welt-im-spiegel/Blick-in-die-Welt-Unfaelle-Luftverkehr;art2302,340514
  19. EASY COME... ...EASY GO! The Nieuport is a bit rickity on the upper wing, when you dive steep!
  20. The CLOUDS looked pretty???? Tch! You've been piloting the most beautiful aircraft there! Well, I hope you like it. If you come from the rotaties, it feels totally different. But if you fly it long enough, you learn: it is a solid and un-nervous gun platform. The Albatros cannot do anything special, but it can do all things quite well and reliable. Except steep dives - only the Albatros D.II can do those; the others might loose a wing.
  21. mastering the Nieuport 28

Although it is a rotary driven aircraft, you should fly it more like the SPAD XIII - in other words: - gentle turns/wide curves softly banked (10 - 15 °) with use of rudder in the same direction - tight combat turns hard banked, with elevator instead of rudder to bring you round - no rudder! (Bank, and then pull the stick - find out, how far you can go) - attack fast (diving) then change direction eventually by climbing steep, and when the craft lost most speed, give full rudder left or right, to reverse your direction; then go down on your opponent again (Hammerhead, I think it's called). That should get you to survive - the rest is training.
  22. No, I don't have anything about kills in there.
  23. A Roland in Poland

More pics of the same aircraft:
  24. No idea, why your Labels are that way, Ras. Best you ask the devs.
  25. Pretty close flying for a fight, Ras - remember Boelke! What's that in your Labels about kills? I never get that??? Is that your kite, vyrago?
