  1. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

This time we seemed to have picked the wrong fight. They had called us from the lines - intruding two-seaters. We realised too late that they were an ace flight of Brisfits! Damn, my tank was pierced faster than I could spell "Albatros", and quickly my engine cut out (great realism, OBD!).
  2. For me, "Edit" is looking gray in my own posts, but if I move the mouse arrow over it, it is selectable.
  3. The Quirky Quiz

Lou, I am sure you deserved it! Now I wish you, that you will find some time for flying too!
  4. Try "Edit" and then "Use advanced editor" (at the bottom in "Edit") - then you should be able to remove it.
  5. Well, you may not receive feedback so soon, cause it may take a bit, until I find the time to 1. check out the vanilla Albatros D.Va intensively; and then 2. compare it to your mod. So I hope others will help here faster. But however - wether I may like it or not - thanks a lot for your works, Gavagai.
  6. GHunter, there is a time-acceleration. Also, the "air start" doesn't only just start your flight at good altitude - it often gets you to a point short before combat happens. You can now assign most of the commands to keys or buttons in "Workshop". The sim AI is an incredible development - they do behave almost human = unpredictable.
  7. Arrrgghhh!!! Crow pie... ! It's good to see someone who admits he posted too early without full knowledge, or who can admit he was wrong. Must often be hard to be a dev, when they see such posts. I had also ranted about the FM of planes in WOFF, simply out of ignorance - I had ignored the chance, that they might have CHANGED the FMs I used to know in WOFF; and that they might have done so, only to get a good step further to more realism. And I always thought I held the OBD devs in the highest esteem. Did I trust them good enough? I think I failed there sometimes... I guess several German planes were inferiour to several Entente fighters. But why fight or argue for a better FM? The pilots could only fly the planes they were given. No British pilot could say "No, if it is only that hopeless case of a BE2 you can give me, then that's no deal!" He knew or quickly learned how bad it was. And then he had to learn to make the best of it. That is what I am trying now with the planes I am flying. I didn't say I'd never complain about anything anymore though - when I see something that I find obviously wrong, then I'll post it. But I'll try not to complain too early and easily anymore. Have some trust in them devs - they are fanboys themselves, and they are determined to get it right.
  8. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

    Yes, good idea, Corsaire!
  9. The Quirky Quiz

I think we shouldn't put ourselves under too much pressure with this quiz. I find it perfectly okay, if someone needs a day or even two, to come up with a new question. Lou for example is on the road so much, that he may find it hard to follow all this.
  10. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

SkyHigh - Ireland added The maps are in post 1 of this thread
  11. Yupp - it even tells the wind speed.
  12. The Quirky Quiz

Congrats, Corsaire! I even had the right event in mind about this question: I had read about Mc Leod's great action to land the aircraft and to save his observer, which I find a VERY impressive brave deed, and a good reason for the medal. But I couldn't remember the name anymore. The olde brains are scrambled egg...
  13. Well, that was an example for bad public relations, I guess... Not very helpful for raising the sales numbers, I'm afraid.
  14. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

Now that was an "eye-opener" for one with his eyes closed; thanks, Corsaire. I admit, I hate reading long instructions, but these are short and clear. And I had thought those commands had remained the same as in OFF. I have bookmarked the PDF page.
  15. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

That's a great Staffel you are flying with, Robert - and good tactics you used. Jasta 10 was part of MvR's group JG1, together with Jasta 4, Jasta 6 and Jasta 11. I was only once assigned to lead a flight yet. When I tried to use the leader's commands "Rejoin" or "Attack", they didn't work. Am I missing something there?
  16. Otto Fuchs crashed his "Walfisch" too at takeoff. He wrote, that the craft had it's own character, and that you had to understand, what input it wanted, before you could fly it successfully. So she wanted to be rolled over gently. Feeling, gentlemen, feeling... Imagine she's a lady!
  17. Shred, you title is not the most obvious to attract many buyers IMHO. If you 'd write "Special WOFF Weekend Sale..." it might be noticed more? Just my 2 cent - I'm from the advertising branch.
  18. The Quirky Quiz

Robert, yes, you won! You have it mostly right. I didn't mean the radiator change, but it may have improved downward vision too - I meant the A-struts in front of the windshield were changed for N-struts. But you have the lowered wings, so yes, you are the winner. And so it is your turn now, Sir! PS: ...and yes, LVG built the D.II too.
  19. The Quirky Quiz

It's okay, Robert, nice you joined in to this little quiz. As for William Barker, I don't think he is a "forgotten ace"; I'm not much of a WW1 aviation historian, but even I know his name. I think he is at least famous for a fight he had towards the end of the war, against 6 Fokker D.VII, flying a Sopwith Snipe. As far as I remember, his body was hit more than one time, and he was badly bleeding and threatenig to loose conscience, but managed to land his beaten up kite after shooting down more than one plane? Okay, here are some Albatros-Questions from "Albatros-Man" (Mmuahahahahaaa!!! If you could see my flying ....!) 1. What were the two most visible differences between the Albatros D.I and the D.II ? (The differences were not performance-wise, but improvements for the pilot) 2. Which second company built Albatros D.II under license from the Albatros Flugzeugwerke at Johannisthal ? 3. What was the most noticable visual difference between the Johannisthal and the OAW-built Albatros D.III ? Additional Question (not important for winning): What were the two most important differences between the German and the Austrian Albatros D.III ? (The differences are not so much visible ones, but rather performance-wise)
  20. The Quirky Quiz

Robert, the rules are, that you can only put the next quiz tasks, when you have been first to solve the previous one. But now that you asked it, I hope someone can solve that. I checked several Canadian aces, but didn't find that annecdote. Anyone?
  21. After my own experience in OFF, the waterways and lakes were quite reliable. Same for railway lines - I made a long transfer flight following them per real map, and it worked. The cities though seem to be quite misplaced (by CFS 3, not by OBD) - they are often sewveral miles off their real positions. You can even see, where the roads' spiderweb centers, and you know: that's where Metz SHOULD be - but instead it is 5 miles southeast of that place. Not OBD's fault - I guess it is more or less impossible to "repair".
  22. Cappy airfield is definitely there in WOFF, Hauksbee. Just use the manual enlistment button to assign a new pilot with Jasta 11 in April 1918, and use the time forth- and back arrows, until you see their homefield is Cappy. Then you can fly from there and enjoy the "Red Baron's Final Flight". You could even do that in QC, select Cappy, thake some more Fokker Dr.I with you; select soandso-many Camels as opponents, and off you go!
  23. Of course, Pol - I never thought the British would feast the beginning of a war. But wouldn't the celebration of men and women in war who sacrificed, still make better sense at the END date of a war?
  24. The Quirky Quiz

Yeah, I often think that when I see early airplanes. The Fokker Eindecker is one example, though there are many worse ones. I found the Salmson in "Rosebud's" pictorial website "Early Aeroplanes". Just in case you don't know it already, here is the link: http://www.earlyaeroplanes.com/archive1.htm I will be out of the house all day today, so I may not be able to provide a new question before tomorrow.
  25. The Quirky Quiz

Okay, let's try! The aircraft could be a Salmson Sal II, which was used by 91st Aero among others. It was built by the Societé des Moteurs Salmson (Brillancourt). The other Salmsons were built by Latécoère; now Group Latécoère. The first aircraft designed by Lieutenant René Moineau was the Salmson-Moineau SM-1, which the last picture shows.
