  1. OT Once upon a Time

My god, there, there... - what happened? Do you want to talk about it? Doctor's order: have a nice eve in your favourite pup with some favourite beer, and the comfort of other married men, eyh! Heads up, Widow. The clouds will pass.
  2. Yep, that's what I think, too. He seemed very impressed by the DM model. So you see, it's all in here. All you need is a twin gun fighter.
  3. British Eh

Don't know for him, but I must say: I like her!
  4. Wow, OlPaint, you still had my Jasta/aircraft chart! Even I couldn't find it again. So, thanks to you, I have it back again now. Does anyone see a way to present the Excel file in a different medium? I don't have Excel.
  5. Today, I really gave the "Graphic Settings" a new investigative look, and I found something stunning: with my graphic card - ATI HD4870 - I do not need the "Override" settings at all ! I really unticked all boxes in "Overrides", and then I made the below settings in ATI Catalyst. These can surely be varied by everyone to their likes. I do not know, if everyone else can do the same - especially not for NVidea cards, or older cards - but you could note all your settings you have now, and then give it a try. Makes life a lot simpler! I will now go deeper into the ATI Catalyst settings. I have wonderfull framerates for Flanders now, but still some white jaggies in Alsace region, when I make quick head movements with TrackIR. If I get rid of them, I'll report here. My sliders are: 5, 4, 3, 5, 5 Scenery Detail & Shadows: it seemed to help, to reduce "Scenery detail" in Alsace, but I didn't notice an improvement when I switched off "shadows". And they are rather a nice addition to the landscape, and even helpful, if you check at start, which direction the sun is standing. Please report, what you think about this, and if you had the same asthonishing result. Here are my ATI Settings, and two pictures, how everything looks now: Smoothvision HD:Anti-Aliasing = 8x Smoothvision HD:Anisotropic Filter = 16x Catalyst A.I. = Advanced (Erweitert) Mipmap-Detaillevel (Detailebene) = on second mark (Leistung) Wait for Vertical Refresh (auf verticalen Neuaufbau warten) = always on (immer ein) Adaptive Anti-Aliasing (box is ticked/ Box anklicken) = Quality / Qualität OpenGL-Settings (OpenGL-Einstellungen) = not ticked / nicht angeklickt
  6. Trackir 5

Yep. You can set it up as you like.
  7. Haha! That's why I wrote them down here. But please, don't be afraid to try own settings on the ATI Catalyst.
  8. Sounds interesting, BirdDog - never had "Open GL Triple Buffering" on - what is D3D Overrider?
  9. Thank you all! Bordeauxred Baron: My Damage Model? Twin 08/15 "Spandaus" - Mmuahahahahahahaaaaa!!! Not sure anymore, foreigndevil. I had the DM of Herr Prop-Wasche & Fortiesboy installed on my previous rig, but I'm not sure anymore, if I had it installed on this new one, too. I think, this might be the OFF Damage Model. Rickitycrate, this was nice; to see a "Walfisch" here is so rare - even if it went to hell. I'd still have to fly one - have only been in it as the gunner; but the AI gunner seems to do that job much better. This one is with additional "shark mouth" from your hands?
  10. Just tried the above FAQ settings, and noticed, that clouds now built up noticably, whereas before, they were just there. So I'll switch it back to my settings.
  11. Returning to base, after missing the bombers, I should have escorted, and shooting down an R.E.8 over La Lovie, well behind the lines. The gunner shot up my engine, but it still carried me back over the lines. Made in Germany!
  12. I thought, "Terrain texture ring blend" makes the terrain go hazier towards the horizon in a ring around the player - that's why I left it on. The others: must try it this way to see what happens.
  13. With a good Jasta, and excellent wingmen, it is possible! Killed two Bristol F2b, and damaged two others badly - and my kite was only hit by one gunner, who was already falling to his death. (see: "Screenshots" for more action). What a debut with Jasta 26 that was!!! They are great pilots and fighters, and I made sure to join, when "Herr Meier" had already left. So that should become a hot September 1917 there!
  14. Okay, that looks like two bigmouths may clash soon. If you are flying a Brisfit, you are in a better position. That beast is so hard to kill. And when it comes near you, you hear an engine sound, that can run goose skin down your back, oh boy! To be honest - there was a lot of luck with me in this case; and very good wingmen kept the gunner occupied.
  15. Don't know, were they are different; must check. But they work fine - see my screenshots.
  16. Widow, as I see your constant sorrows about not having a Snipe, here is a painting ar least. Hope, Russel Smith won't mind - this and so many more can be found in the Galleries over at the Aerodrome's "WW1 Aviation Art Gallery": http://www.theaerodrome.com/gallery/
  17. A Snipe for Widowmaker

Yeah yeah yeah - you're so generous with tax money!
  18. Shall it come - I will ram it straight to hell with Thor's hammer! Mmuahahahahahaaaaa!!!! (But you're right - that's how it usually goes then).
  19. Just as a possible guide, here are my settings. (I'm running an ATI HD 4870 card). No need to switch off the aids below left, and right side in "Overrides", nor the movie stuff. But the rest - middle left - seems good for me. My sliders are on 5, 4, 3, 5, 5, and all is running fine.
  20. Cripes, what a fight!!! To test fly my new Jasta 26 Albatros D III OAW skin, I made my first sortie with Xaver Dannhuber and Otto Fruhner. Their 1. Gruppe were still flying about 500 feet higher, when they got jumped at by 4 Bristol fighters. We were still struggling to get up there, when 3 more Brisfits joined in! I got my first chance, when one of them came down on my men. I fired at it, till a wing came off. After that, I hit two more of them hard, but they were "smoked" by my wings. When another Bristol crossed my path, I hit it hard, but then: gun jam! Fortunately my excellent wingmen helped me to get out. When my guns had cleared again, I shot this craft down, too. Man, what intense 10 minutes that were!
  21. A Snipe for Widowmaker

Bordeauxred Baron: I'm afraid, gentlemen, you vill only experience, how different - or nott - itt may feel, to be shott down in a Snipe instead of a Camel! Mmuahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!
  22. Imaginary Grief

It may be random, if a wingman gets carried away in a battle or gets shot down, whether he'll return or if he's dead. But as far as I could see, those wingmen I have brought back to base with me, never died through some random choice. Maybe luck? Not sure.
  23. Imaginary Grief

I know that very well. Part of the "immersion factor". When flying OFF, I am really there, in my crate, with these wingmen. Since I lost three good ones, I changed my tactics. I now remain high, observing their fight, and dive on those enemies, who bring them into trouble. My Wing1 always remains with me. Still though, I couldn't save them all. I am just happy, when I bring wing1 back home.
  24. ATI 10.3.a drivers out

Thank you, Morris! Will try it!
  25. Rich, there are the "Tips & Tricks" in the OFF General Help; then the "General Help Topics" above, in the sticky threads; and the FAQs on the website www.overflandersfields.com I think you mean the graphic sliders; thy are in "Workshop" > Graphics Config > File > Custom settings You will get a warning popping up; ignore it. The "Overrides" are found there too, go in Custom Settings to Window, then Overrides. But to set those up, you should look for the instructions in the above help topics.
