TrackIR is not a gizmo - it gives you the feeling to really sit in the cockpit. That's almost essential. But yes, about 125,- Euro are not cheap. But like OFF - worth every cent!

I downloaded a file which is called "DXwebsetup" - is that the right one?

...it was only on Churchill's insistence that Dowding was given is Baronetvy in 1943 Does this mean, that he was made a Baron - can't find the word in my dictionary.

Wow - that sounds impressiv! Like "Molon Labe!" Hihihi!
-
Hmmm - I'm running VISTA (fine so far, despite common antipathy), so maybe I should.

Does this mean, that, although one may be running DirectX 11 already, it could make sense to install an update for DirectX 9 ? (Sorry, but I'm no computer buff)

Update 03/03/2010 23:22 h Berlin wintertime (= GMT + 1) tranquillo, England, added. All the maps are in post 1 of this thread

Yes - I hadn't known that before. Well spoken, Widowmaker!

You lucky man, you got it really fast! 1. "Overrides" are found in the "Workshop" under "Graphic settings". 2. You can change all command keys easily by pressing "escape", and then assign a new key for a command. After that, you may delete the original command key. Please do yourself the favour to study all advice in the official website: http://www.overflandersfields.com/

Wow! Would I have found something like that, I would have sat in the attic with glowing red ears, until the others would have found me! Keep it well, Macklroy!

Just saw the second part of "Fighting the Blue" about women as ATA pilots. Very interesting, how many of them transferred fighters like the Spitfire. And how they only lived from day to day. I was quite shocked, to see how badly Dowding and Keith Park were treated. None of them was left in office with the end of the Battle of Britain, because some "pushy-elbow type carreer vultures" served them off, icecold? The documentation said, that, if Mallory had introduced his "Big Wing" idea at the beginning of BoB, England would have probably lost the fight. And when Dowding requested two inch bulletproof glass for the windshields of the fighters, the "Lords of Decisions" laughed at him. He had to insist by saying: "When the Mafia in New York have it - why not my pilots?" And they only gave it to him, because the losses of pilots were just too high. Hugh Dowding got a memorial statue not earlier than 1988? What a shame!

MS type AI Progress

So where would you recommend to start reading/studying? -
Thank you for this report, Shredward; now I know him a little better. Just saw the documentation "Fighting the Blue", Part 1: "Stuffy" about Dowding. A man probably not honoured enough yet.

One must take risks for the women, von Paulus, one must take risks!

Why did this craft never fly over Flanders fields?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
What a pity! A double pity, as we will never see it flying over Flander fields. Is this a GMAX work? -
What I meant was: settled by the first OFF flyer (I hope "settled" means, what I think?)

Only just found my way here through your post in "General Discussion", Bullethead. What you're building there, looks so amazing, that I want to try 3D stuff again. How long would you say a semi-intelligent bloke would need to get as far as this? Do you use Gmax or also other programs? -
Yep, on the OFF website, Dutchie.

Hi, tranquillo, welcome over Flanders fields (soon) ! You must update/patch your CFS3 to the latest version (I think, that's 3.1) Dual core CPU is fine, no problem. Processor speed is important. Check the "Tips and Tricks" in the "OFF General Topics" sticky thread above, and all help at the website: http://www.overflandersfields.com When you got the sim, please send me a PM with your hometown and country; I'll add you to the OFF Forum Pilots map then.

In German Vista, it is in: Systemsteuerung > Zeit, Sprache und Region But more important may be to do all patching. Also, I recommend to pull the throttle back to about 2/3 or half, before warping. If it still happens, press "pause" immediately when you come out of warp. When you press it again, pull throttle full back and push your stick forward. When the aircraft is horizontal, move throttle forward. That helped me, when I had that problem.

Escadrilles 15 and 102 missing their Nupe 11s
Olham replied to Hasse Wind's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, Creaghorn, who knows - perhaps Winder had to give up his house for developing OFF. So he might be working under slightly difficult conditions right know - but absolutely dedicated of course! -

I'm rather short of money, so I better guess myself first: some type of Oberursel? Damn, Bullethead, do you ever sleep? Beer-brewing, flint-knapping, 3D-modelling - and all that besides your job for that "Jutland" simulation! I feel old compared to you. Is this still within the tolerable amount of polygons used? And will you also build the aircraft to it? -
Why did this craft never fly over Flanders fields?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Flyby and von Paulus - it is not only happening in your countries. Just remember the Starfighter affair in younger history: a perfect, light and fast interceptor with wings so small, it might have been a rocket rather, was made into a nuklear bomber after the wish of former defence minister Franz Josef Strauss. 269 lost aircraft meant, that almost 1/3 of these Luftwaffe fighters crashed. -
Well, we'll see, what chrisp will come up with.

It is unbelieveable almost - if I didn't know, how badly politicians and high brass often decide. What a fighter it would have been!
