Wunderbar, Lou! Now let's hope it will attract some more Belgian pilots! -
Roland DII and other needed planes for the next add-on

Waldemar Kurtz: ...the Morane Parasol (single-seat and two-seater variants) it even got used by Bavarian squadrons in the form of the Pfalz A.I/E.III. If that's true, that would mean, with making just one model, both sides could have a new plane? Cause I agree with you - the Eindecker would be more fun, if it had less dangerous opponents early on. To fight a Nieuport Bebe in a wingwarper, is almost suicide - but a Morane Parasol - that could be done. -
Stuffed with good food. Made two sorties earlier. Had a nice hot bath with a good book. Check the forum: not much going on. So I think of watching some TV. But blimey - you know what the program around half past ten is this evening? - Jaws - Alien 3 - Lethal Weapon 4 - Mission Impossible 3 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Arabeske - Rendezvous with Joe Black - Once upon a time in the west Now, I really like Bruce Willis, and also Brad Pitt; Alien and Jaws - classic monsters! Claudia Cardinale in that Spaghetti Western - sexy! (but god, that must have been 40 years ago). Although I'm not watching TV very often - I must have seen all these movies more than three times (felt: a dozen times)! Should I make another sortie? Read a little more? Go to bed early? I must be so drunk from the wealth of the west, I'm in a delirium!

Ha, that place is looking complicated indeed! See here, Bullethead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baarle-Hertog

The funniest dubbing was made for "Der Rote Baron": German actors had originally played/spoken their roles in English, as it was meant to be an international production by Warner. For the German market now, these actors had to speak their German text on their own English mouth movements. You have a good culture there with watching the original movie, von Paulus, and maybe you even learn foreign languages that way. On the other hand, it can be very irritating or destructing, to read the text lines underneath, and sometimes they can really spoil the pictures.

Just watching the French/American movie "A very long engagement" It begins and is in parts about WW1, and the beginning is rather sad. But it is also about life, and is very full of good phantasy and pictures and good humour. An outstanding, special movie, full of love to the old world, to old things. Here's Wikipedia about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Very_Long_Engagement I recommend it to those, who really SEE pictures.

What impressed me much, where some trench war details, like the granade coming down right next to the trench, burying the soldiers near the impact; or the big shrapnell splinters tacking into the trench wood panels - typical male of course, as the ladies would much more like the love story. So yes, Pol - a film for men AND women.

No need to overhaul that, Winder - I normally never use it, and for occasional use it still does what it should.

You might be right - I have the aircraft slider on 5, and my gauges look right. But that yellow bracket/target marker is very raw, and I wonder which slider might be for that...

Roland DII and other needed planes for the next add-on

depalmer, as a (former) model builder and collector, I would have felt like you: let's have all the planes that we can see on old photographs - should be nice to have. But flying them is a different thing. We have the Halberstadt D II, which is one of those early war fighters. But how many people fly with it more often? I have used it occasionally, but never really got far with it, and went back to my Albatros. When a craft is more difficult to handle to gain any success, and also lacks firepower, it would be nice to HAVE - but would it be nice to USE ? The Roland's forward vision was rather poor. MvR tried it in Adlershof - and stuck to his Albatros. OvS' Siemens-Schuckert D III is quite another cup of tea. Udet has been flying it, and it must have been a very agile turn-devil with a good climb. It was used in these Jastas: Jasta 2 Jasta 4 Jasta 12 Jasta 13 Jasta 15 Jasta 19 Jasta 26 Jasta 27 Jasta 36 -
Yes, I think that the version you hear second, will always feel funny. I saw "Die Hard" in German first, and liked the voice and verbal style of Bruce Willis - it felt just like being actually him speaking. Later I saw the movie in the American original language, and it felt funny - his German voice sounded better to me. For Robert de Niro they have in some movies worked with a different German voice than he usually has - it didn't feel right. And Dr. Hannibal Lecter - I saw him in original sound recently - is double thrilling with his German voice.

Buddy Holly? Hey, Jim, you could have gone as his double with those glasses!

Which slider does it - some can't move all to 5.

"Aces High"?!? On Christmas!?! You lucky blighter!

A GRAND DAY OUT WITH JASTA 21 After making some corrections on my new skin, I had a "Grand Day Out" with Jasta 21 today. We had 12 Albatros in the sky above the Argonne, and it was an impressive sight, and great fun to fly with Karl Thom, Rudolf Matthaei, Emil Thuy and Eduard Ritter von Schleich! It was almost secondary, that we also had a triumphant victory about 10 - 12 Nieuport 24bis. We shot them all down, and lost only two craft. -
No, never tried a Camel cowl - the E.V's was easy; but to make a Naval camo pattern on the upper/back part of an Albatros match with the side parts, can really drive you nuts! The suffering of the skinner! Lol! This is a wonderful looking Belgian craft, Lou. I like how your colours of the roundels hit the taste of the time by using a rather darkish yellow, not today's shiny one.

Great lords of war - I've only seen all this through now, and I must say, this is one of the very great ways to give up smoking, Stiffy! And to prevent a fall back, there are so many other things you could add to your uniform (a revolver, a Sopwith Camel, an own airfield), that you would never start smoking again! You might even find the project useful for a little slimming (don't feel offended, I know I should do something for - or better, against - the "equator increase" myself). Please show some pics, when you got it all together!
-
Now you say it: I tried the yellow brackets yesterday, and they looked very raw indeed. Must check for the HUD Gauges.
-
Yes, Hasse Wind, "Caudron" and "Farman" I read a lot in the kill tallies of German pilots.
-
Von Guber, the German synchronisation in "Jaws" is actually very good. I don't know, how Robert Shaw sounds in English, but in German he sounds a real "salty dog". They have very good studios for that job, and choose the voices carefully. John Wayne was said of, that he even preferred "his" German voice to his own as more tough. They take care, that they even hit the movements of the mouth, so it doesn't look too strange. But for you it would be funny, as you know another voice. I have once seen a German movie in Norway, and it was ridiculous for me to hear that language out of German mouths.
-
Sometimes Jastas change back to a type they used before, and then later get the craft that is assigned next in the list. So the list may read: Albatros D V, Fokker E V, Fokker D VII But you really get: Albatros D V, Fokker E V, Albatros D V, Fokker D VII I have that too, here and there. Think nothing of it.
-
Amen to that! Yeah, the Christmas Truce - I've only seen the rest of it recently, but they'll show it again soon. At the end, the Germans involved were sent to the eastern front, I remember.
-
I'd say, this SIM takes US too far (it is NOT a game, Stiffy!)
-
vschoell, I'm not authorised in any way to say this, but I am very sure, that as long as the devs feel it makes sense to carry on with OFF and make future versions of it, they won't rest, but build more craft, until they have all the yet missing ones together. It takes very long to build such detailed models, so be patient. One day...
