  1. I got a kill!

Pilot Jim Attrill was wondering. His claim had been confirmed, although he had only written his own name in as witness. So he travels to the Headquarter, to see how the guys work there. When he arrives, he can see a lot of craftsmen activity. Ladders are leaning at the building; many people on the roof are trying to saw something to pieces, that looks very much like the light greyblue tail of a Roland C.II Coming closer, he asks the men, what is going on. A sergeant explains. "One of those young fighter pilots, a Jim Attrill, from a squadron not far from here has shot this Roland down. And then he had the cheek to send in the claim form with only his own name filled in as witness!" Jim asks: "But he didn't get that confirmed, surely?" The sergeant: "Me, I would have shot the guy! But our Colonel HAS confirmed it - unbelieveable, but true. He found, if a pilot has the nerve to send in such a claim, then he may have the nerves to fight the Red Baron! But I tell yer: if I can put my hands on him first, I'll put him into prison for 4 weeks on dry bread and water!!!" "Well, as it goes at the front these days", says Jim, "he might well be shot down already, hm?" And then he steals away to his motorbike.
  2. With this old card, I wish you all, and all your loved ones, frohe und gemütliche Weihnachtstage* Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year 2010! * happy and comfortable Christmas days
  3. less than 100% fuel loadout?

Olham CAN also fly and fight with tank filled 100 % - I just did so. Wanted to fly "my" new Jasta 21 skin (well in fact OvS', with my modifications) in OFF HitR, and therefor had to accept the full tank. The Albatros is quite heavy already, but here comes the stronger engine of the D V into play. So it may not be any better with a full tank, than a D III with 60% fuel, but also not much worse. Not sure what had happened, if they had been aces, but these N 24bis where lost against Rudolf Matthaei, Karl Thom and me. (Now, this doesn't mean, you devs shouldn't search for the solution anymore!)
  4. Pink Panther, you should be able to edit your title. Click on "edit post", then click on "use full editor". There you can even change the title. (If not, it's because you are yet new member).
  5. Don't make your 2 1/2 year old to be right - hug and kiss your woman, buy her beautiful flowers and take her out for diner - inbetween flights.
  6. If you like "Pilsener Urquell", you may also like "JEVER Pilsener" from my native homeland Ostfriesland. Not sure if you could get it anywhere outside Germany. It is as acerbic/bitter as the other.
  7. Felt like flying in the Argonne area and joined Jasta 21 in July 1917 - but not without making me a skin for my Albatros D V before. (Thanks to OvS and Paarma again for their good research and fine Albatros skins!) Second sortie was horror for a French Escadrille - they had sent out 12 Sopwith Strutter to make reconnaisance photos of our airfield and the nearer environment. We scrambled. None of them escaped us. I alone downed five. A dark black day for Esc.123...
  8. ATI Driver settings

Thanks, Venator - as I said, I'm far from being an expert.
  9. Happy Birthday OVS

For German measures Tiger doesn't seem to fit to that sport at all. We have a joke here: Do you still have sex, or do you play Golf?
  10. ATI Driver settings

Without being anything like an expert, I can only show you my settings: SMOOTHVISION HD Anti-Aliasing: 8x SMOOTHVISION HD Anisotropic Filtering: 8x Catalyst AI: (untick: Disable) Advanced Mipmap Detail Level: Quality or High Quality (try, what runs smoother) Wait for vertical refresh: Off, unless application specifies Adaptive Anti-Aliasing: (Tick: Enable) Quality Open GL Settings: (not used) For the Open GL Settings, I'm not sure, if it would work together with the other stuff, and if it would add more quality. Does anyone know?
  11. Wouldn't mind your kind of Christmas either, Jim! Cheers - have a Pilsener Urquell for me, too!
  12. Heavens - if the old pilots had known, what we worry about today...!
  13. Happy Birthday OVS

Well, recently, our Fussball players seem to have seen too much American TV - they play a style like they want their opponents to forget their names.
  14. Train in my airfield!

    A TRAINing mission - that's a good one!
  15. Belgium

Haha - no, better not: they eat dogs!
  16. Belgium

Allez les Belgues! You may have to change your name into "Chien rouge", Red Dog.
  17. Santa arrived early

Yep the sim isn't really looking less good with terrain even on 2. I have these settings: Aircraft detail: 5 Terrain detail: 3 Scenery detail: 3 Effects quality: 4 Clouds: 2 Anti-aliasing and such stuff I have set up in ATI Catalyst Control Center for my vid card.
  18. Santa arrived early

Wow, PinkPanther, seems someone called Santa to tell him your troubles - now that must be a wonderful Christmas for you! And if you hate the wheather - just start a Campaign in May or June! Have fun!
  19. Here are two location maps from Townshend; one of these I had introduced before. Funny he doesn't show the French, but he does show the Belgians. Mybe of interest for some of you. Jasta/Squadron/Escadrille locations: http://patriot.net/~...end/WW1AirMap2/ [unclick the national yombols you don't want to show; then choose "display type" top left.] The other site shows German Jastas only. http://patriot.net/~...send/WW1AirMap/ Choose the date there, then move cursor either over the red location dots, to get the location name highlighted in the list below; or move the cursor over the location name in the map, to get the dot highlighted.
  20. C'est formidable, Dej, merci beaucoup! Even for non-French speakers easy to use.
  21. Okay, I cleared a lot of space there now. Could you try it again?
  22. display setting question

Perhaps you make a screenshot of your settings in "overrides" and post it here? (press "print", then leave OFF and go to a picture program, click "new file " and then "insert").
  23. Cool.

In early P3 I believe to have flown through a wire without result. But I often have to land dead stick, because I use "fuel management", but am very lousy in calculating it right. For escorting a recon flight, I would have to add the actual zigzag over the recon area, and I often don't get that right yet. That the tank is still half full, but engine goes out, would/should also happen through a bullet hole, cause the pressurisation would get lost, I'd think.
  24. Very good addition, Dej! Now we only need to find a similar site for the French.
