I won't be playing OFF xmas morning thanks to Avongate
Olham replied to PinkPanther's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Someone from Canada said earlier, he had it in 12 days. So hope and pray. But if you have familiy, it might be even better, if you didn't get it BEFORE Christmas... Please send me a PM with your hometown and state - I'll add you to our OFF Pilots map then. -
Pol, I don't know HOW you had done it before, but it was a noticable difference between 25 %, 50 % or 100 % fuel filling. I used them very variable - on patrol behind our own lines, I filled in the necessary amount plus 50 % (so for a flight with necessary minimum of 30 % fill I used 45 % fill). For flights crossing the line I filled in 200 % of the necessary minimum (so if 40 % would have been the necessary minimum, I filled in 80 %). The noticable difference allowed me to fight such agile craft as the Pup or the Triplane - with a 100% filling almost useless to try in an Albatros. But that's the way I would have done or tried in RL too.

Snow Storm hell... I drove through it...

Sitting Duck, I mostly go the easy way for pics: Google picture search. I typed "snow storm virginia" or "snow storm east coast", and there I got it amongst many others. -
How do i get the TAC to recognise that I have overflown a waypoint?

I had the same problem yesterday. Should this be another thing broken with the ad-on? -
less than 100% fuel loadout?
Olham replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
JimAttrill, the fuel loads where only given in percent; you just decided, if you filled in 50% 0r 70% or 100% - no gallons or litres given. tone12, the ability to manage fuel has gone sown the drain (so to say) through changing the sim so we can have real personal skins. But - as far as I know - even using a default skin won't give it back to you; it's gone. -
You may have got that wrong. I only noticed, that they have made hints recently, that we are in for a good surprise with P4. That could, but must not, mean a new engine. Or they got much more out of this one. Who knows...

Snow Storm hell... I drove through it...

Von Paulus: ... a couple of days ago I felt a earthquake level 6 in the Richter scale. I was playing OFF and thought that was probably a effect of the new wind buffeting... -
They may have, BuB - the few hints I read about P4 made me wonder!
-
Siggi: The only reason it matters to you is it was once variable and now it's not. Would you care if it had never been variable? No, you wouldn't, you would simply have got used to their performance envelopes and flown them accordingly. That's absolutely right. It's like with getting blind. You miss your eyesight only, cause you used to have it.

Yes, nbryant, sometimes, when you land in enemy terrain, the sim says something like: "You where captured, but you could escape after 20 days." It seems to me, that you get it more, the closer you land to the line. but that may be just my impression.
-
Perhaps the misunderstanding lies somewhere else. Perhaps you didn't notice it yet, BuB. Whatever amount/percentage there is written in the fuel amount window in the briefing, doesn't mean anything, cause it's broken since HitR. There might be 60 % written, but when you press F5 for the gauges, and you read the blue text, you'll see: it is always 100 % at start.

Perhaps you read the posts of Bullethead and RAF_Louvert, BuB. You want to eliminate realism points? Okay, so let's take off 60 % for using throttle, and 30 % for using inflight trim, and 20 % for auto mixture control. and 40 % for warping and 75 % for using TAC and 60 % for using Labels well, you may get it - you can calculate yourself, where you would end with realism. To regard just the petrol management as non-realistic, is starting at the wrong end. And I say it again - if I had been a pilot, I would have used it as well as goggles and gloves.

Your fear was out of reason, and quite healthy, like the fear of a fighter pilot. Good to hear, you are safe and warm there now. Found this pic in the web. -
Okay, you guys, now you made me curious: new pics, please?
-
Thanks for the confirmation, Winder.

HiR Freezes during initializing
Olham replied to OLD NAVY's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Indeed, look into your workshop settings for wind. It is now even bumping your crate. And for the cold air: place a pot of ice cubes in front of a fan blowing into your face. As close as it gets... -
There I'm lucky with having my older rig running still, Bullethead. As I didn't dare to move the pilot data to the new rig (with HitR), cause it might lead to corrupted files, I will fly our DiD Campaign on the old rig, until the pilot falls. Sitting in the cockpit already for a Ball. bust. mission - wish me luck!
-
Thank you, RAF_Louvert - good information, Sir. And a nice post in general - I fully agree with you.

Just had a fight with Jasta 6 against SPAD XIII. In our brandnew Fokker E.V, we had to protect an airfield. Six SPAD XIII came in high. I ordered attack. Those bastards remained high, or made an attack dive and went high up again. Although the E.V climbs well, the SPADs do the same with so much more power, that I sometimes thought, I wasn't moving much. But each time, one came down behind me to shoot me down, I could turn so tight, that he had no chance. I got one in the end, but only because I can shoot quite well over long distances. They really kept away from our guns, but when I had hit him, he got slower. Unfortunately, Ricardo Wenzl shot him to pieces. But hey, we're a great team! I felt almost invincible in that crate. Hope to meet some Camels soon!

Yes, they did, what I would do, but they where much too passive. That's why I'll try the "Historical AI" - there, the later war time will be more of the old aggressive AI. Randomly chosen by the sim, if I got that right. So, in Historical, you will get flights with the new AI earlier in war; and later it will change more and more often to the old, more aggressive AI.

Yes, I recommend to you all, to choose the AA in your graphic card manager. I have an ATI card, and go to "ATI Catalyst Control Center". Try 4x first, when you have older cards, and raise to 8x then. If fraps are still okay, go even higher. The internal OFF AA seems to be out of work - at least for me. But my card does it very well. Edit: Congrats, Lou! But mind you, I will hop into my cockpit now to get some of your friends! Nothing personal! -
I used the new Hat in the Ring AI. There, the SPAD stay mostly high or even climb in a fight. I found it hard to get up to them, cause they are so much stronger, they just climb out and away, if they want. In future, I may use the "Historical AI" setting though.

Broadside uda Barn: I agree with Pol and Shredward. It shouldnt be an option. Lessening the fuel is more of a "cheat" than many other options in the workshop. Even if it is optional in the workshop (I'd rather that time be used for far more productive and needed things), it should carry a HEAVY subtraction in realism Sorry, Sir, but how can you seriously say such things? Switching off wind is a cheat. Setting opponents guns on less accurate, and yours to very accurate, is a cheat. Air start and Warp is a cheat. Static good wheather is a cheat. Throttle on most planes is a cheat. Trimming in the air is a cheat. Using TAC is a cheat. Labels and brackets are cheats. And and and... Fuel management is NOT a cheat, because - in opposition to the above - it COULD be done. And some of the above investigations seem to show, that it WAS done. (To make this clear again: I know you can't bring it back now, Winder and Pol, and I don't expect you to do such a magic trick. But if it turns out to have been used by the real pilots, I hope you will implement it in P 4 then.)
