I think, that the devs also have considered, that the guns in a flying craft may not be heard much louder than this. You have the constant drone of the engine, and the wind streaking over your wings and helmet's surfaces, and maybe you would have carried ear plugs. -
Well, that's relative for me - the E.V is not as twitchy when I chase and aim. I like that. But the D VII is stronger, I think. I like the skins of James/OvS - mine is just a simple variation of his Jasta 6 skin. I only changed the white zigzag on the cowling to orange, and "painted" a "Germane" (spear man) warrior on the sides.

No, I also tried it with chat switched on, Bullethead, and it read "flares selected" - I fired, but nothing. Perhaps a problem of the graphics? I'll try again on my new rig soon. I'm getting to grips with the Fokker E.V now! It's twitchy, but not instable like the Dr.1. Good at aileron turns, good rudder! This sortie, I got a balloon. Hey, they are much harder to destroy now - it took me four passes. Short after that, we saw D VII fighting SPAD XIII. As one SPAD came down to us, I took the chance and peppered it from far. I hit it so hard, that it couldn't escape me through speed. I caught up and fired all my rounds into it, until it banked left and went down. -

May well be, that flying with less fuel only made such a big difference in OFF, but not in RL... That may be right. A pity that it was not mentioned in the books I read so far. But I' ve ordered another German pilot's book and when he mentions it, I will get you informed. I have little hope though, cause neither Shredward nor RAF_Louvert jumped in, saying: We know how it was done - we have the details in our books! If you come to the conclusion, that you want to drop fuel management, cause it was not done, then I will trust your wholeheartedness and seriousity and try to forget about it. (With a heavy heart - my "lady" doesn't perform so nice with belly full...)

Not 2nd Lt Fokker-Fodder, surely. It rather makes sense on the German side, when you know you won't have to cross the line and only to fly to defend the neighbouring airfield. In real life, there may not have been such a difference between half full and full - but in OFF there was. And I developed my whole fighting style in the Albatros around that. Shredward: If we can find a way to allow both options, we will, but don't turn blue while holding your breath. Yahooo! I knew you loved us!! Don't panic - I'm breathing properly!

Sorry - I realised there was a patch, but haven't installed it yet. I have read, that we can choose between BHaH AI, HitR AI and a random mix, called Historical. But I had not read anything yet about a choice of "aggressive AI". Oh, and the planet I'm from isn't really a planet - it's Walhalla! All Germanen go there, when they die in battle. And I must have died often enough for it. See my new emblem on my Fokker E.V! -
Thanks, BirdDog - yep, it's fun. Just had a fight in my Jasta 6 Fokker E.V, and the overall look of landscape and sky was so good, I almost forgot the SPAD XIIIs circling overhead!

Creaghorn, if you want enough randomness, you could exit OFF after each flight. It doesn't take long, and you never know, what you get next. Think I'll do it that way. -

Well, JFM - you could make up your fuel/weight ratio calculation here, that you posted in our DiD chainmail. That was very detailed. After that, it seemed to be little difference between half filled and full tank, if I remember right. My disappointment there was/is about the fact, that OFF simulated a very different behaviour, which I got used to and which made my fighting dangerous. I never went up with more than 50% - and I could dogfight much better than with a full tank. So, what needed to be cleared (but who experienced it?) is the question: can an Albatros with half filled tank perform a lot better against turn fighters, and can it climb much better? If so, I'm sure I would have used that to my advantage in real life.

For campaign set to "Historical", they say they have a done it so, that early on you get the more passive, lurking new AI, and it will mix more and more into the old, more aggressive AI towards the later war time. For QC, you may just get a random choice. I never thought anyway, that campaign and QC could be compared.

This is meant to be about the FIGHTER AI only. We have seen numerous threads and posts about the different behaviour of the new AI. The devs have already said, it is wrong as it is, and may be thinking of going back to the previous version. Now, perhaps you can make your vote here - how do YOU think about it's pros and cons ? Might at least be interesting for future developments.

HITR and Missing Configs And Overrides

Well, screen resolution may go wrong, when you change or update your graphic drivers. I had that too, but didn't loose the config. -
Think it could have been changed back only by withdrawing the real personal skin. But you could try the old AI setting in workshop. Perhaps you get it then? I have meanwhile learnt a bit better to manoeuver my now heavier Albatros - with some good success.

Maybe too early to fix that - I want to give "Historical" a try over the weekend. But I have two rigs now. On the old one is my campaign pilot, and he'll fly on with the old AI, until I know a safe way, how to transpose him to the new. As you are the DiD inventor, you shall have the last word on that. I'll play it any way you fix it. but check it out first, and a lot, before you decide. Until then, I'd think everyone could fly as he wants?
